Lunar Eclipse in Gemini 2020: Bless this Emptiness

The annual Gemini Full Moon is typically a time of busy-ness. Folks in the Northern hemisphere, whether engaged in the holidays or not, buzz about gathering supplies to ready themselves for the darkest parts of the year. We have less than a month until the Sun begins to return. The winter solstice lies on our horizon offering us not only the slowly returning glow this year; but, also, the end of eclipse season and the Grand Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius.

Though we are typically preoccupied and scurrying about this time of year (as mixtures of Sagittarius and Gemini energies are prone to be), we are also reflective. This is a season of assimilation and integration of all that has occurred during the now closing year. Sagittarius is the philosopher. During his season we are inclined to seek meaning while the energy from Gemini simply adds to our curiosity. With both inspiring us toward decorating our burrows with twinkly lights and shiny impractical baubles which are surely all set for shine and showing off  under the Gemini Moon.

This year, however, much of the busy is eclipsed. Literally. The Full Moon blossoms at 9 degrees of Gemini at 4:30 AM EST on Monday morning (11/30.) However, over the weekend, Neptune stationed direct in square to our nodal axis also in Gemini.

The blurry, hazy, confusing uncertainty of that mutable t-square persists. On top of that, Mercury, the ruler of our Full Moon and North Node, though well supported by our planets in Capricorn, still remains in darkness. The end of Scorpio hangs heavy with intense emotions conjoined with mourning and loss. That type of energy swirls not only in our heads but in our hearts as Venus, too, lingers in Scorpio's graveyard.

There isn't much scurrying. There isn't much in the material realm that even seems to be able to produce a feeling of fulfilment. As a matter of fact, a season that has a tendency to find us indulging ourselves and our loved ones by filling our cars, filling our homes, filling gift bags....seems to find us rather empty. Gemini's light buzzing about has been eclipsed. As have our processes of assimilation as many still have lots of unanswered questions. Adding irritation to that mix, with Mars in Aries finally moving direct...we are ready TO move forward and re-engage with life. The timing simply is not ripe. Timing is an essential concept under the North Node's transit through Gemini. The concept of timing will increase even more in importance after the entrance of Jupiter and Saturn into Aquarius.

For now, it seems much has been lost. Our circles are small and no matter how many lights we turn on, it still feels pretty empty. And, yet, maybe it is the sense of emptiness that is the true gift. What would happen if we welcomed it instead of tried to escape or deny it. What if we surrendered in acceptance of it? What if we quietly just sat in the emptiness allowing it to whisper to us about what is truly important? What if we gave thanks for that unspeakable kind of wisdom and used it to bless ourselves and the messenger of circumstance?

Our losses that sacrificed themselves to render to us the Void deserve our respect. As does the fecundity of the Void, itself. Faith is what will lead our ability to see that. Faith being just as much a Jupiter/Sagittarius concept as knowing, politick-ing, preaching and professing. It's just more quiet and less of a spectacular show. It is the more gentle, humble, guiding, patient and warming nature of Jupiter that is the superior lamp. The most wise guide. It is that type of Jupiter that will help us keep our inner lights kindled as we endure these last few weeks of darkness.

Our guide at this eclipse is the 2 of Swords.

The 2's are always suggestive of balance. In this instance, we are called toward balance in the mental sphere. The Ace of Swords gave us inspiration by way of the appearance of a sword. The next phase offers us a 2nd sword. It can be contradictory or complementary to the first.

2's also all involve the element of water. This is an indication of emotional influence. With the 2 of Swords, the central figure is positioned in a way that it has achieved a sense of balance by turning their back on the water. It resides choppy and threatening behind the subject but it will not impede the ability to remain grounded and in a position of balance. That is suggestion to us to also hold to only the two swords, choices, or contrasting ideologies/opinions in front of us while not allowing personal emotional influence to impact the inspection.

The subject is also blindfolded. The blindfold could be removed. The person is not bound nor chained to anything. They are holding the swords willingly. It can be assumed the blindfold was also deliberately placed in this instance likely to blind the central figure from matters of personal bias. A signal to us that our personal bias should be placed aside as we consider only fact. And while we decide how it is we will incorporate the messages from the sense of emptiness and what we have experienced on personal levels from the passing year. Our brains are going to do this regardless of our conscious involvement. Just as it decides what we will remember and what will be forgotten when we go to sleep at night. We might as well be consciously involved in the integration and assimilation processes.

Two's often indicate the introduction of “the other” with the 2 of Swords being no exception even though the subject is pictured alone. At times, the 2 of Swords has been directly related to the Moon in Libra. Just like the Moon in Gemini, the Moon in Libra NEEDS the other for emotional fulfillment and discourse. However, sometimes it is important for us to isolate ourselves in effort to hear our own voice without the influence of “other” which is what the subject is doing. It's ok to share thoughts or debate. It is not suggested we share brains. However, the impact of our considerations and renderings upon those we care about or the potential for its impact on the other in general should be taken into consideration. The influence of “other” still exits in the 2 as a relevant piece of the puzzle. But, Libra Moon can be prone to place too much emphasis on the opinion or influence of the other and is often met with need to temporarily disconnect from that dynamic to bring about a better sense of internal balance.

It's also relevant here to note that the quiet that we may find ourselves in at this Full Moon is not likely to last long. On Dec 1, Mercury finds himself released from the waters and Scorpio as he moves into the more lively sectors of Sagittarius. As a matter of fact, by the time we make it to our Solar Eclipse in two weeks, Mercury is conjunct the South Node in Sagittarius(!!!).

As we wait out the return of the light, we are also waiting revelations of truth as well as compilations of history and story all of which will open new chapters and potentials for us on global and individual levels at the New Moon (Solar Eclipse) in Sagittarius.

As these doors begin to open, we are gifted with a new sense of hope and vision by way of the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter at the genesis of Aquarius on the Solstice. However, that hope and vision likely finds many of us still in the midst of barrenness. Some, may even note where it is they find themselves at this time as “rock bottom.” Yet, we will each glean a great deal of clarity about where it is we personally “stand.” Some will even recognize that it was the state of barrenness empty that birthed the very hope and visions they are able to perceive of at that point. Some, even if they can't quite put their finger on how or why....are able to perceive of the light and hope that is on its way but are nearly afraid to allow themselves to believe it. Perhaps, in following the advice of the 2 and while taking advantage of the untypical sense of quiet at this time year, we too can begin to perceive of that light, vision and hope that exists beyond this emptied vessel.

There is a choice of perspective and philosophy to be made at this Full Moon. Know that even though renewal awaits us we still have some darkness and pressure to endure particularly as Mars continues his processional through Aries. However, fostering the right mindset here can actually help us to monopolize upon those energies while appreciating the sense of finality they bring. Accept the quiet solitude. Bless this emptiness. Then, choose which lamp you will use to illuminate your hearth and path as we await for the Sun's light to return...as faithfully, it always will.
