Full Moon in Aries 2020: Numb and Overdone

The first day of October brings us the month's first Full Moon. It's considered “micro” due it's proximity to the Moon's point of Apogee, marked by Lilith in Aries. Lilith is also conjunct the Moon's ruler, Mars Rx in Aries. This unlikely pairing is in harsh square to Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn who are both incredibly empowered as they linger around their station degrees.

Saturn turns direct on Monday night (9/28 @ 11:45 PM EDT) just after Venus in Leo finds Mars Rx in Aries in sultry warm trine (9:01 PM). There is some ease that comes from these two movements but on personal levels most have been trudging forward with some heavy luggage on our backs for a long time. Mars' continued square to Saturn ending with a square during Saturn's direct station equates to burn out in a lot of ways.

The end of September weighs heavy following a sustained time of “already heavy enough.” Typically a Full Moon that comes along amidst such pressure would help to offset or relieve some of it. This micro Full Moon provides little relief. Regardless of the effort expended under the current Moon cycle, that began under the New Moon in Virgo, it's unlikely we've much to show in tangible result. Mars Rx has caused frustration, failed attempts and on top of that many have been up against restrictions and blockagaes. Basically by the time we get to this Moon, we are done. There is something we are overdone with trying to fix. We are overdone with trying to make something work. We are overdone giving and trying and doing while still failing. We may find certain situations unfulfilling. Draining.

Disappointment, disillusionment and disgust can be present at this time Plus, in some instances, folks will be wrestling with personal demons. Even though Mars now moves away from Saturn and some tension from that square will begin to ease, he still has Pluto to deal with. And, he deals directly with Pluto as he stations to turn direct (10/4 3:28 AM EDT).

When Pluto stations his energy is a lot like a snake shedding its skin. It can operate or feel like a poultice pulling toxins to the surface to facilitate healing. It can pull demons to the surface for exorcism. It can bring to light or exacerbate phobias or stir issues with mental or emotional health/psychology. Themes of Pluto in Capricorn also include proper use of power, matters of blood inheritance and the karmic implications of ancestral activity, debt, taxes and the shadow of leadership, corporations and the business world.

While stationing direct in square to Mars Rx, there is chance for seething, repulsion, violence, extreme fear, extreme force, there could be exacerbations or new onset suicidal or homicidal ideations. Mars is wounded, weary and frustrated.

The same energy that could cause all the ill impact I just mentioned is better directed toward deliberate shedding of skin, purging toxins and bravely facing one's demons. The long term implications of Saturn and Pluto turning direct are GOOD NEWS! The 3 big heavies in Capricorn will be moving forward and that's great for all of us! However, there continues to be sustained pressure due their current conditions. Knees are buckling. Meanwhile Pluto is tempting...seething...luring...trifling. The energy is better turned toward endurance of this time rather than straining against it. Know when to quit. Know when to walk away. Know when to give up. Know when to move on.

What can happen here is a chance to withdraw deeply inward for the type of self-healing and rebuilding that is necessary here while walking through the stages of grief tenderly. With the Sun and Moon both in strong aspect to Chiron, healing is a highly accessible energy. Unfortunately, it also means that wounding is accessible as well especially that of the self-inflicted variety.

Another problem is all the heavy comes on the heels of compelling energy. There is no choice but to feel it looming overhead and pressing down on us but the energy that leads us out of that is much softer. It comes by way of the trine from Venus in Leo to Mars rx and Lilith. These two entities (representing our anger, rage, fear, vitality) long for recognition and embrace. We are hurt. We are angry. We are tired. We are defeated. All those things will be easily discernable and yearning for validation with the answer being to AT THE VERY LEAST give yourself a break. Even if no one else will, give yourself one. Embrace and protect your own inner child while the world is doused in flames.

We are allowed to grieve what we are leaving. And healthy response would advise that we should. We are allowed to lament the potential for wasted time. But, it's over. All that's left is letting it go. Allowing ourselves to heal and being gentle with ourselves as we do. Goodbye's are forever here and cutting yourself free of long oppressive situations is entirely possible under the pass of Mars Rx in square to Pluto on the morning of October 9. In many instances, allowing yourself to take the ego hit of defeat or loss naturally leads to the healing process. It's when we favor the ego call and neglect our true needs and desires while withholding from ourselves our own validation for our hurts and disappointments that we will suffer these skies the most.

At this Moon, we find Mercury newly in Scorpio. He stations to retrograde in opposition to Uranus in Taurus mid-month. It's likely the turn about of Pluto, that follows Thursday's Full Moon, dredges forth themes we will be talking about for several months and definitely throughout Mercury's retrograde. Mercury's 1st opposition to Uranus (10/7 at 4:55 PM EDT) will provide clarity around matters that have been confused or manipulated/hidden for quite some time. It's the influx of that information that brings us to the point of being ready for some kind of severance by the time the Mars/Pluto square comes around. The last quarter Moon awaits us following these movements, providing us space to fully relinquish our grasp upon what we are letting go while continuing to mourn our losses.

Levity from the shed that begins at this Full Moon finds us in a state of more sincere simplicity as Venus in Virgo trines Uranus in Taurus on 10/10. Plus, we may even feel a little better...but hopefully maintain our good humor and humility as the Sun squares Jupiter in Capricorn on the 11th. It can feel as if we have entered the Eye of the Storm by the 12th as Jupiter sextiles Neptune, the Sun sextiles the Moon in Leo and Venus in Virgo sextiles Mercury in Scorpio. Yet, there are more rumbles just over that horizon as the Sun then opposes Mars Rx on the 13th and Mercury stations to turn retrograde. The two week period of this Full Moon ends on 10/16 with a New Moon in Libra that finds herself in square to Pluto and bearing Tarot guidance of the Moon as we finish up Libra season and prepare to enter the spooky times of Sun in Scorpio.

At this lunation, Tarot has given us the advice of the 8 of Cups. Eight's have a tendency to immerse us in their suit. The ground is typically stable but there is nearly a potential for fixation to develop within the 8's if we are not willing to push ourselves through to the next level. In the 8 of Pentacles, we are challenged to “fixate” in on our skills to learn how to better development. To fixate on our finances to see how to better monopolize upon our profits/reserves. In the 8 of Swords we are certainluy fixated and bound to only our thoughts. So, in the 8 of Cups, we are fully immersed in the suit and it can equate to a state that feels a whole lot like an emotional hangover or an overstimulation to the point that you are numb whether that emotional type of stimulation was enjoyable or not. We are satiated of it...full of it...whatever it is at this point. The 8's advice is that it is time to leave the party. We may have over-indulged. The contents of what we've taken in may have proven itself toxic or unfulfilling. It's time to dry out. Recover. Detox. Heal.

The 8 of Cups as advice at this Full Moon is a nudge to let us know that whatever it is that is shackled to our leg? It's time to cut it loose. We know it's not going to get any better and this is a cue that way ahead isn't going to create conditions that make it any easier to carry either. You know what it is you need to be done with because you are basically numb to it. The passion for it is gone. It seems to take more from you than it gives and at this point you are so depleted...fatigued...bled out...burned out...numb...and done. Do yourself a favor. Walk away. Let it go. Endure the time but know you DO NOT have to endure the situation. Drain it for everything you can take from it. Memory. Experience. Whatever. But, you can be done. You can move on. One step at a time.
