When we were bunnies

Can you remember when we were bunnies?
No?
Ah. Well, that is to be expected because when we are people; we were born to forget. But, not in our bunny lives. When we were bunnies we knew everything. We saw everything. When we were bunnies, we were filled with magic. We can exist as so many things. Each thing we become is unique and special in its own way.
In just about every life..except when we are humans...we know how the transformation from one kind of thing to another works. It isn't an enigma to us at any other time. But, when we are humans we are veiled with unknowing and bound to only a single plane. Plus, we are cursed with a desire to know.

However, even though humans wander the land of forgotten purpose, the veil, our binding and curse compel us toward precisely the destiny we were built to fulfill. They are gifts we don't understand.
When we are humans, we only need to exist in one time and in one world. Our desire to find what we've forgotten propels us in only one direction. Forward. One moment at a time spinning history and memory behind us. It is this constant reaching forward that leads us to our only true purpose. To embody the energy of progress and connection.
We are naturally reaching creatures. Whether we are reaching for a book to connect with it's knowledge, reaching for a cupcake to connect with its sweetness or reaching out to one another to connect with our hearts. We stumble unwittingly right through the purpose of the limits placed upon our existence. Blindly achieving exactly the one thing we are meant to do while never even noticing that we create miracles simply through our connections. But, when we are humans, we never get to rejoice in our glorious success. It occurs as naturally as our breathing but our humans brains become convinced that our purpose MUST be something bigger and much more complicated.
Yet, if we knew what we thought we wanted to know, the reaching would stop. We'd lose our natural inclination to perform this important job. It's our very desire to know and discover that propels us forward in our human lives into a journey we cannot fail. It is on this journey that we find...not necessarily what we were looking for but what we are meant to find. At that crossroads where desire and destiny meet; we make our connections. Then, it's back to the search..the reaching...the desire to know.
But, when we were bunnies, even though the humans lives see us as simple animals, we not only know, remember and see all that is, ever was or will be...we can also travel there. Diving into our infinite existences and hopping back out to the place humans call “now” is no more difficult than walking from the kitchen to the living to us then. Lots of other lives grant us the knowing we have as bunnies. But, it's only as bunnies that we are able to move back and forth through time and all that is. We get to encounter dimensions and various interesting creatures with a full view of the entire spectrum of wondrous existences. We go places and see things that we forget even exist in our human lives.
Yet, all our human lives have a special relevance when we are bunnies. When we are humans, the connections we make seem fleeting and fragile. But, when we were bunnies, we understand that once a true connection is made, it can't be broken. It's one of the very few impossible things. We remember every connection we made when we were humans. We recognize these connections in whatever form they are. They recognize us right back. We realize then the true importance of the work we didn't even know we were doing as humans just by our compulsive reaching nature.
Sometimes, when we are bunnies, we even giggle a bit at our memories of when we were human and all the troubles, worries, fears and regrets we plagued ourselves with which distracted us from realizing all is operating perfectly as it should, always has. Always will.
As humans, we like to think we have the power to influence the grand design which we know absolutely nothing about. But, when we are bunnies we are well aware that our human lives are essential while our innate human fallibility is powerless to sully the Majestic Orchestra of Divine Perfection. As humans we placate our ignorance by believing we are larger than we are. We trick ourselves into believing hat all that we call “now” is over-whelmingly complicated and important. However, when we finish our human journey, our memories quickly return. We understand more fully just how small we are in comparison to the vast all that is.
In the time that humans call “spring,” new itty bitty baby bunnies are born. The first place they hop off to once they are able is straight toward all those special connections we made and thought were lost in our human lives. Wherever and however these connections exist, when we are bunnies, we can easily find them simply by following our bunny hearts.
Sometimes, those connections still exist on that single human plane. Still veiled by the unknowing thus blocked from fully understanding how our “lost” connections aren't lost at all. When we are humans in spring we may see a bunny hop by and assign nothing to it other than another symbol of the season. But, the secret is...no bunny hops by and allows a human to see it by accident. You may not recognize him as anything other than a bunny. But, he remembers you and has waited for his bunny life with great anticipation just so he could find you once again.
Ah...the wonders that simply escape our eyes as humans. We've forgotten more than can we ever recapture in this short trip. But, if you remember one thing, perhaps it should be this...
if your day blesses you with a glimpse of the fuzzy on the move bunny, remember it's not chance...it's not just happenstance. It was simply love seeking you out. Hopping through portals of time and space just to have another moment with you. It is always a sign that some bunny will always love you.

  1. Thank you so much, Josie! I just lived in the desert for a year, where rabbit were an everyday sighting. And yet, it was always so clear to me that whenever I spied one, I was suddenly so much happier than the moment before. It truly felt like "it's not just happenstance. It was simply love seeking you out."
