Jupiter changing signs at
the first of December is a pretty big deal. From Capricorn, Jupiter
will be a big player in our skies in the year to come. But, he is
NOTHING like the Jupiter we know in Sagittarius. In Capricorn,
Jupiter gets serious. We are learning to plan for our futures and to
own our circumstances. Under Jupiter in Capricorn we flourish when we
are accountable, responsible and exude integrity. We learn to keep
climbing. Which means, at times, we may stumble backward. Jupiter in
Capricorn is notorious for teaching us in the school of hard knocks.
And, he also has a tendency to gut check us in our ability to “do
the right thing” or “the responsible thing” by putting us in
situations where the right thing is the last thing we may want to do.
He can make the right thing difficult to discern, also.
Jupiter in Capricorn is
really good at coming in cloaked in what we perceive as “bad luck”
only to test (or help us sharpen) our ability to build our own luck.
Plus, he wants us to learn how to not only perceive of opportunities
and monopolize upon them when they are present; but, to also learn
how to create our own opportunities. Jupiter in Capricorn delights in
the employment of our acquired wisdom/teachings rather than just
learning for learning's sake. He will call us to do the work. Any
mixture of Jupiter and Saturn has a tendency to equate to that
“whole lotta work” type of energy. Jupiter in Capricorn can vibe
in a way that we end up taking our grassroots operation global or he
may send us traveling because of our jobs in some way. The main theme
though is to own your own journey, start from where you and aim to
level up while maintaining a sense of integrity. Either way, I'm
convinced he gets such a bad rap in Capricorn because he forces us to
“work” for it. Plus, his sense of humor is a little...er...bent.
Our New Moon in Sagittarius
holds Jupiter, the ruler of the sign, at the final degrees of
Sagittarius having just met Venus by conjunction on the Galactic
Center the weekend prior. This draws our attention to the passing
Jupiter cycle and allows time for integration of the wisdoms and
teachings we may have acquired during Jupiter's transit through his
home sign. Plus, we will likely be receiving “introductory”
lessons to Jupiter's entrance to Capricorn at the same time. It
really is fairly easy to notice the culminating and introductory
themes if one just takes the time for a little observance. I like to
switch to a whole sign chart to get the general gist of outer
planet's transit through a sign in my natal chart. It seems to help
me more fully pinpoint the essence of the transit for me.
5 Degrees Sag:The old
owl high up in a tree. Observance. Taking it all in. Watchful but not
responding until the timing is precise.
The Sabian Symbol for the
New Moon seems to suggest we lift ourselves up to safe space while
widening our perspective. We are reaching for higher levels of
thinking through observance and stillness. Acting only when the
timing is precise. Plus, taking a lofty and high position helps us to
perceive of the bigger picture while watching the storyline of the
passing Mercury retrograde play out to its finale. Mercury will not
exit his retrograde shadow until the first part of December. The
detective is still piecing all the information together within the
“big picture.”
29 Degrees Sag (for
Jupiter): A fat boy, eager for reduction, mowing a lawn. Getting into motion. Take the
first step. Perceive of the long game.
Jupiter's Sabian is
suggestive of implementation of a long term plan that streamlines
everyday activities toward a larger goal. It bears in mind the future
consequences (mainly benefit) of our actions upon our future. It
speaks of a perspiring boy mowing lawn supposedly in eagerness for
reduction. What the kid does today may not make an immediate
difference. But, if he sticks to the desire and idea of wanting to
lose weight performing “acts that lead to reduction”
consistently, he stands a good chance at achieving his goal. Here, he
is still heavy and in some versions even sweating. So chances are he
is just beginning this “journey.” What that means is we are
encouraged to get started even if the first step is small. But, we
need to be very clear in regard to what our future goals are first.
We may be very eager to get started. But, if Uranus in Taurus has
driven anything home thus far it is that sometimes we have to wait
for the natural environment to align and fend off frustration in
effort to achieve quality.
Planning for the future is
key with Jupiter in Capricorn as well as a willingness to not skip
any steps or take the cheap and easy short cut. So, if you want to
appease that energy early, we can begin drafting our steps forward in
a way that each one leads to the next. In a way that going about our
daily routines actually pays double duty...firstly supportive of the
day itself but also supportive of our future goals. Just like
climbing a ladder. As Martin Luther King Jr. quote goes, “Take the
first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, you
just need to take the first step.” In this instance, we take the
first step in faith. Are willing to keep climbing. But, we've chosen
the staircase itself based on the fact we have faith it will lead us
where we want to go...to that plateau we intend to stand fully upon
in our future.
We will integrate some of
Jupiter's wisdoms from his passage through Sagittarius as we traverse
this Lunar Period as I've mentioned. But, we will also be integrating
information from the Mercury retrograde that is passing out. By the
time we reach the Full Moon in Gemini, Jupiter will have moved into
Capricorn (12/2) and Mercury will have entered Sagittarius (12/9).
Setting intention toward integration and subsequent growth from each
passing transit works well here.
With such focus on the sign
of Capricorn, the concept of starting from the ground floor and
working your way up “the ladder” or “mountain” are certainly
highlighted themes. That means if you feel like you have hit rock
bottom, stop digging because there is no better place to start
climbing. All we are doing is getting a good grip on where we are,
integrating what we've learned and preparing for where it is we would
like to grow next.
Our guide for this lunation
is the Queen of Swords. She is razor sharp. As our guide she wants us
to get very clear in regard to our emotions. She wants us to speak
and accept concepts of truth even if they have a sharp edge. She
encourages us to talk about how we feel. At times, she even serves as
an advocate speaking on behalf of folks who are unable to speak for
themselves. She is concise and to the point. Decisive. Well educated.
This is not over-intellectualizing the emotional or the intuitive. It
certainly does smack of where and how emotions clash with logic as
well as the patternings in our perspective. That draws Pallas'
presence next to this New Moon to the fore.
Pallas Athene sits at 7
degrees of Sagittarius in this New Moon chart. She is sextile Juno in
Libra and leaving a semi-sextile with Ceres in Capricorn (an aspect
this New Moon repeats). But, she is also waxing toward an inconjunct
with the Nodal Axis which will perfect just before the Moon enters
Aquarius during this Moon cycle finding the Sun by sextile. As that
sextile between our luminaries perfects at 8 degrees of their
respective signs, it creates a Yod aspect with the North Node on
11/30. That set up helps us to perceive of how a willingness toward
continual personal growth and an ability to lean into concepts of
high emotional intelligence can help us piece together more steps on
our journey toward the creation of our own future.
At this New Moon, however,
Pallas is seeing more of what doesn't fit into the framework of her
future more than what does. Plus, in aspect to Juno in Libra who is
squaring the nodal axis at this time, she may see exactly how our
commitment to matters of “other”, of “appearance” or even
keeping the peace may be blocking us from creating the future we
truly desire.
Looking at Pallas also gives
reference to her familiar. The owl. Thus repeating one of the core
themes of this Moon. Hegel observed that “the owl of Minerva
spreads its wings only with the falling of dusk.” This means that
wisdom does not launch until the sun is setting on the experience.
You can employ acquired wisdom at the beginning of an experience but
you do not receive new wisdom until the event is over. Jupiter at the
end of Sagittarius is the end of an event. Mercury leaving his
retrograde shadow is also. There are many other culminating events to
mention but no matter how long that list is, wisdom from those
culminating cycles is now ripe for the picking. Some of that new
knowledge, once incorporated, could impact our personal descisions in
regard to how to move forward in a myriad of ways. That's a nudge to
avoid grand or immediate gestures and instead to incorporate what
we've learned before we take off on a new adventure. Start small.
But, dream big.
The emphasis on the sign of
Capricorn is only going to increase. Saturn is the Lord of Tempo and
timing, so taking steps that align with Universal tempo and timing
works well. We also still have energy coming forth from the sign of
Scorpio as this is where we find Mars and Mercury.
Mercury has been through the
wringer and only has a few aspects to repeat before finally stepping
out of his retrograde shadow. His third trine to Neptune in this
retrograde cycle promises to be a humdinger, too. This trine perfects
on 11/28 at 4:51 AM EST following Neptune's station direct just 24
hours prior. That means that Neptune energy could skew the
information and communication sphere right up. Or, it can also
indicate that a creative influx of Neptune may be just what we need
to unblock our brains as we try to discern how to engage moving
forward. Then, as Mars aligns in trine with the nodal axis on 12/2,
our steps forward can more fluidly align with the future we are
working toward. The type of knowing that comes from Mercury in trine
to Neptune, though, may not be the type you can put into words. It
could be just a feeling of knowing or understanding that descends.
The last trine to Neptune
isn't the only “Clean up” aspect on Mercury in Scorpio's agenda
either. He will also complete a his 3rd sextile to Saturn
and Pluto as he walks out of shadow. Those will bring even more
solidity to matters of information plus give us a more clear idea of
the tempo we are working with. The 3rd sextile from
Mercury in Scorpio to Saturn occurs on 11/30 (a few hours prior to
both our luminaries igniting a Yod with the North Node). The third
sextile to Pluto from Mercury occurs on 12/3 just about 12 hours past
Jupiter's ingress to Capricorn. These are all apsect patterns that
Mars in Scorpio will repeat. Meaning, keep your eyes and ears open
for information then as Mars passes through these same patterns, work
and follow through with what you know.
The aspects from Mars to
Neptune, Saturn and Pluto start just following the Full Moon in
Gemini on 12/12. Mars trines Neptune on the morning of 12/13 (meaning
that aspect is featured in the chart for the Full Moon just as
Mercury is featured waxing into it at this New Moon). He goes on to
sextile Saturn on 12/19 under our last quarter Moon. Then, finally,
he finds Pluto by sextile on 12/22. The timing of his aspect patterns
leads us straight into the ecliptic. And, if anyone knows how to play
the long game (which has been a point suggested throughout the
energies of this New Moon) it's Mars in Scorpio. Folks with this
placement will wait you out or stay in the shadows as long as
necessary while stalking it's prey waiting for the perfect moment to
pounce. It is going to be highly beneficial for us to tap into that
ability as well. Opportunity could very well blossom (especially
under the Jupiter in Capricorn to Uranus in Taurus trine on 12/15)
but we could miss it if we are not willing to be observant or to wait
for the timing to align.

All that said, the first
step it seems we need to take under this energy is one big step back
(or up, rather, high in the tree with the owl). We need to get clear.
We need to get to the point. We need to pin down the truth. We need
to get control of our emotional sphere so that we can disallow
outside energies to use those responses to manipulate us (because
that is BIG business in our world right now). We want to take the
time to research what we are told for bias. We want to cut through
the bullshit and get to the facts. Then, we want to hone our
abilities to decipher intuitive information in a logical way. The
Queen of Swords completely understands the meaning of her intuitive
dialogue and she offers us a chance to learn that language more
astutely with her presence as guide at this Moon.
We are also encouraged to
speak up against injustice and in advocacy for those that may not be
able to speak for themselves or who have been wrongly
disenfranchised. This is surely a Queen that believes in equality.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander. She cares about
matters of true justice not it's manipulation. She could very well
suggest splitting a child in half in a parental custody case just to
bring out where it is the truth resides. She certainly has some high
minded tricks up her sleeves. But she is not out of touch with the
intuitive or the emotional. She encourages the exchange of ideas.
Believes access to knowledge and learning are birth rights. She is
also unflappable. As in she can see behind the manipulative game and
makes it her business to cut through matters of shade and illusion in
effort to bring forth clarity and truth. So, if at this New Moon, you
find yourself overwhelmed or confused the Queen of Swords says to
start with seeking clarity. Cut through the blurry veils of bullshit
so you can get to the truth. Once we do that, the decisions that lead
to the moves we need to make next come swiftly.
The New Moon in Sag always
hints at a road to a new journey emerging in front of this. This
year, that road leads upward and the experience will be what you make
of it. But, before we start down that road, take some time to
integrate what you've learned already and maybe find a place up high
so you can see a little further out than what you can perceive of
from the ground. Get clear. Then, get started with that those first
steps.
