Morning Star: Astrology for the week of January 22 to January 28, 2018

Monday, January 22, 2018

The Moon entered Aries overnight pulling us from the watery ethereal world into the world of engagement and action. Her first aspect is a supportive sextile to the Sun in Aquarius just at daybreak on the East coast. Shortly after, however, the Moon meets with the dredge of a Saturn square. The Sun/Moon sextile helps us to get the ball rolling while the square with Saturn holds us to task and accountability. The latter of which is likely cumbersome but fleeting.

As the day moves forward, the Moon flirts with Venus in Aquarius at midday leaving the rest of the day open for a perked up and pleasant evening.

Tuesday, January 23, 2018

The Moon in Aries has a few confrontational aspects in the meat of this day. She begins with a square to Mercury in Capricorn at 10:30 am. This could be conflict between how we feel and what we think. Mercury in Capricorn is all business and will hold our active Aries Moon on point if not deliver a few words calling for maturity and goal orientation. The Aries Moon likely feels as if it needs to start something whereas Mercury in Cap wants to ensure the job is not rushed and carried through to fruition before we jet off to begin something new.

More conflict lies ahead as the Moon in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn at 1:48 PM. The belly growls and the Moon is inclined to heed that call. This can also reflect abuse of power or subservient control efforts as well as emotional manipulation. There could be seething or brooding here as the mood deepens and swirls.
At 11:17 PM, the Moon is sparked and unsettled with a conjunction to Uranus. It is certainly lighter than the interaction between our Aries Moon and Capricorn planets. However, it can also produce feelings of anxiety. Yet it can also provide the spark of initiative and inspiration that helps to offset the heaviness brought about earlier in the day. There are likely individual issues or quandaries that we are becoming prone to fixate on or look at more closely Mercury waxes toward a conjunction with Pluto which is due to perfect tomorrow evening.
Following the conjunction with Uranus the Moon is Void until entering Taurus at 8:41 AM tomorrow.
Mercury is our “busy” energy this week. Tomorrow under our fixed Moon with Mercury also conjunct Pluto, many will be focused and steady. However, Mercury conjunct Pluto can also produce paranoia or fixated looping thought patterns. The highest use of it is to dig into all the details of your own business. Meaning, assessing the psychology behind your plans, the motives, the potential chinks in the armor while laying out all the steps in assured order.

The conjunction occurs with both planets moving toward 20 Capricorn: Through the empty church, the choir is heard rehearsing. The unrealized fullness of life even in the emptiest hours. Preparation for activity. Ray of hope through all difficulty. (From Dane Rudhyar's Wheel of Significance).
The symbol itself sounds hopeful. However, Mercury conjunct Pluto isn't necessarily naturally inclined toward that. Of course, this doesn't mean you can't steer it that way. The symbols speaks of beauty breaking the darkness. I can imagine the church sitting on a still evening in the midst of darkness. A hallow hollow sight with just a few lights burning in a back corner. On the outside looking toward it, the scene could seem rather haunted. But in the stillness you can hear the voices rise in unison. Uplifting prayerful songs that on their own help to lift the spirit and soothe an otherwise wearied soul. Look for the hope. Listen for the angelic resonance. Don't stop digging until you find it. And, if you can't find it, you can always make your own joyful noise in the darkness searching deeply within yourself for that sacred place and releasing the music found therein. If we can fixate on dark things, we can fixate on finding light in darkness, too.

Wednesday, January 24, 2018

The Moon wakes up in Taurus at 8:41 AM with the bigger news coming from the Mercury/Pluto conjunction I mentioned in yesterday's write up waxing in at 3:48 PM EST. Tensions very well could be raised in this day. Not just due Mercury/Pluto, but also because we meet with the friction of our First Quarter Moon at 5:21 PM.
First Quarter Moons are known for their tension in any lunar cycle. However, this one precedes a Full Moon eclipse at the end of the month. So, the energy is likely to be even more jangly. We are pitting the signs of Taurus and Aquarius against one another. A very rigid and fixed time that occurs under a focused and potentially paranoid mindset.

What does help with this is that the Moon is stable, sturdy, down to Earth and quite grounded. She is not really prone to evolving change that is brought about by our Sun in Aquarius, though. This could make her rather nervous or even annoyed as the square catalyzes her toward doing things a new way as minds are set in the way things have always been done. She does trine Saturn shortly after the Mercury/Pluto square and just before the First Quarter. So, she is extra sober and in line with her future goals. She just isn't likely to enjoy experimenting.
At midnight, she airs her grievances to her ruler, Venus in Aquarius, who is also geared toward new ways and innovation. This could ease some tension in the atmosphere or create disagreements between those who wish to remain in the status quo (since it works for them) versus those who are ready to embrace a more equitable system. With a Venus ruled Moon in connection with the same, what we are looking at are factors of resource. Money. Tangible goods. But, we are also looking at personal values which is the area Venus wishes us to evolve. Venus here is the humanitarian who has concern for the welfare of all. She doesn't have much attachment to the concept of money and is more concerned with how we treat the whole of humanity and the planet we are charged with caring for. If a person has values that conflict with that agenda, the ambiguity brought about by this square becomes more uncomfortable.

The fact is that change is coming and that scares people especially those who have profited in the old system. However, just like a business, we must evolve our methods of engaging in the world as it, itself, evolves. This fact has been proven true over and over again. Companies that do not incorporate advancements in technology into their operations or fail to adapt suffer. As do individuals. Doesn't mean you have to like it. Doesn't mean it doesn't present challenge. Its just effective business to accommodate public demand in an effort to remain relevant. The same is true in the personal sphere. You can fight the changes all you want but they come forth with or without your permission. It's better to accept that and seek the opportunity in it than to be merely left behind. The square from the Moon to Venus reminds of this. Mercury to Pluto can offer us fearlessness to meet the challenges coming toward us. Thought patters can be challenged and reformed. But, you have to choose to apply the energy in this way. Otherwise, it drags you deep into the shadows covering you with your own paranoia and then starts poking at you with a cattle prod exacerbating fear and anxiety even more. It would be very easy to get trapped in that. The better bet is to look purposely toward ways you are able to change, innovate and improve while accepting what it is you cannot. The First Quarter compels us toward taking action toward our intentions. The first most basic step to that could be ensuring that our goals fit into the unfolding schematic of an ever changing and ever connected world. Do keep your ears open today, though. There could also be stern directives or excavated deep secrets revealed within the collective today.

Thursday, January 25, 2018

If there were buried secrets that were excavated in our yesterday, that news likely hits the public today as Mercury in Capricorn issues an official statement in sextile to Jupiter in Scorpio at 6:29 AM. Something is very likely exposed here in a rather large way.
On a personal level, focus is still acutely accessible and the sextile to Jupiter helps broaden the scope of our vision considerably. It's also energy that brings forth a rather cold but wicked sense of humor. Meanwhile, the Moon limbers up and relaxes a bit due a sextile with Neptune less than a half hour later.

The rest of the day has us chewing on the cud of whatever we learned this morning. Later tonight, the Mood intensifies with a trine to Pluto at 7:02 PM. From here, the Moon touches upon Mercury by trine and Jupiter by opposition. It looks as if the sign of Capricorn has called the Moon in for a late night board meeting. They better have snacks. That all I know. But, the skeleton of future plans can be assessed for stability here. The aspects between the Moon and Jupiter provide endurance while the interaction of Moon/Mercury/Pluto helps us assess the sustainability and nuts and bolts of our agenda. It's sober and serious interaction, though.

Following the trine with Mercury at 10:17 PM, the Moon is Void until entering Gemini tomorrow at 12:40 PM. When the Moon wakes up in butterfly land, she will likely notice that she feels a bit more limber than the last few days of this week. Mars shifts from the deep fixed waters of Scorpio and enters Sagittarius at 7:57 AM. The switch of the Moon from fixed to mutable with the same occurring with Mars, can help lighten the weight of our personal loads considerably.

Friday, January 26, 2018

This morning the Moon is Void until after midday. She meets Mars newly in Sagittarius by opposition just 15 minutes later. Now, oppositions can cause ambiguity. However, between the signs of Gemini and Sagittarius, it could also offer us a chance to learn something new by venturing to do it. Gemini is the ever curious child. She feeds from brain stimulation and interesting conversation. Sagittarius is the wise teacher and she will call us to actively employ the lessons we have mastered while encouraging us to also reach for more broad horizons. This is a very outward and active energy interested in exploring new flavors and exotic lands. Gemini can accommodate that. Sounds a lot like a field trip to me!

The rest of the day passes without major astrological event. Enjoy the limbering up of the energy! That is probably folks will notice the most. Then, stretch your legs. Get out and explore. Follow your curiosity. Walk your truth and keep looking for ways in which you can broaden your life experience.
Also, happy birthday to my favorite Aquarian! My (not so much a baby anymore) boy turns 23 today.

Saturday, January 27, 2018

This morning we are still light and flexible with the added benefit of airy ease brought forth between a nice trine with the Moon in Gemini and Venus in Aquarius in our early morning. We may have felt so light and free yesterday and into the night, though that we danced our legs off and are ready to retreat for rest. The Moon squares Neptune at 9:42 AM bringing a potential for fatigue and maybe even a call toward ducking the crowds for a bit. The low point of this is extra permeable emotionality and super sensitivity. The grumpy whiny kid Moon. Sleep in. Or take a nap to offset this.

The rest of the day clicks on by but it is suggested that we get well rested in the early part of the day. Our Moon's ruler squares off with catalyzing Uranus in Aries smack dab in the middle of the night. Meaning, brains are zipping...”Breaking news” alerts are happening and I wouldn't be surprised to hear of a severe weather event or two. Particularly ones involving ice or maybe even a little thunder and lightning. With that, there could be power outages, car accidents, travel issues. Either way, the brain is firing on cylinders it may not even have which does bear affect upon our Mercury ruled moon. Venus is calling us to evolve our values. Mercury/Uranus is giving us no choice but evolve our thinking and expedite our abilities to reach conclusion/decisions. Squares often come by force and this one is rather personally unsettling. However, Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury. He wants us to step back a bit and engage new forms of higher thinking while challenging the adherence to the status quo. This also sharpens the edge on our words. This aspect is impatient and curt. It also has the ability to metaphorically cut you in two with just a few quick phrases. The brain is highly reactive and this is coming off a day in which the Moon was widely permeable. So, not only are we feeling the unsettling feel for ourselves but with poor boundary we are picking up on the anxieties of the world as well.
If you are able to rest in the early part of the day, this is going to help. Staying well grounded and disallowing yourself to lean toward over-stimulation by way of the food or the information you take in helps, too.

The Moon waxes into this Mercury/Uranus configuration at 5:40 AM tomorrow morning. We've likely been very “sparked” and rise ready to shoot out of the metaphorical cannon as a result. However, if you start something, start early! Like maybe monopolize on the lightning fast brain activity overnight if you can. This can kick start either madness or genius. It can bring wild and innovative answers or cause issues of mania, migraines/headaches (particularly if the weather is unstable) or overly impulsive and reactive thoughts and tongues. Where you land on that continuum depends on what you actually do with the energy. There is a thin line there. The Moon is Void before daybreak and remains so until 1:58 PM when she enters Cancer tomorrow evening.

Sunday, January 28, 2018

The Moon is Void until about 2 PM this afternoon as Mercury finds Chiron by sextile. Her only aspect is cold opposition with Saturn at 9:15 PM. It's likely a day in which the last few days of brain spin and socialization have caught up with us. We are ready to squirrel away at home and maybe make some soup. Yeah. Soup sounds good.

The opposition to Saturn has us considering our plans going into the new week while making preparations for the same. Packing lunches. Ensuring we have washed the laundry we needed and overlooking the general schedule we have laid out for ourselves. Doing so pays off as the Moon trines Neptune tomorrow morning. Anything we can do to ready ourselves and help tomorrow morning move more smoothly is going to be much appreciated. We could be groggy, distracted or slow to engage under tomorrow's Moon.

Use today to get rested and prepared to head into Monday again. We are only a few days away from the eclipse. Void Moons should be monopolized upon as they can provide little breaks for us in the otherwise erratic energy. Today offers us such an opportunity. Get your bearings here. Things likely to grow rather punctuated with an increased tempo as our new week gets rolling.
