Full Moon in Aquarius 2019: From a distance

Our Full Moon crests on Thursday, August 15 at 8:30 AM EDT. It features the following Sabian Symbols:

For the Moon 23 Aqua: A big bear sitting down, waving all its paws. Bovee advises this is about balance and perhaps a bit about root chakra as the bear balances on his “seat.” It could be an indication of needing balance within the root chakra, surely. This symbol shows a trained animal. From the wild of the forest to being conditioned to perform for entertainment purposes. This can be an indication of a need to get our own instincts or animalistic nature under control. However, I caution you against doing this for show or acceptance or to accept training that would have you forget, forgo or pretend to be something you are not just to make others happy.

For the Sun 23 Leo: A bareback rider: In contrast to the symbol for the Moon, this puts us directly in touch with our visceral instincts. The bareback rider is challenged to become almost an extension of the horse. In order to ride safely, there is a melding of rider and vehicle to a degree that they are almost a singular animal. There also has to be trust built between rider and horse. The type of trust that is known but not necessarily built through verbal communication. Surely the rider may talk to the horse. Her tone of voice could be part of what creates an atmosphere of trust with her animal (inner or outer). However, it is was through physical interaction and experience with one another that the trust was actually built. Both symbols point to an awareness and mastery of self to a degree. Are we trained and putting on a show? Or, are we melded with our instinctual nature and able to gently direct it to where we would like to go?

For Uranus newly Rx in Taurus (Modern ruler of the Moon): A bridge being built across a gorge. You know, we talk about burning bridges all the time. What builds a bridge?

At this Full Moon in Aquarius, we are quite overloaded with Leo energy. That can mean that things feel really personal. It could be hard to see past your own opinion, to see past what it is we want or what we are motivated to do. We have Mercury now back in Leo finishing his march out of RX shadow. He is headed to 5 degrees Leo in this chart which will be fresh territory for him. He is also waxing into square with Uranus in Taurus who stationed Rx last weekend. That square can be felt as rather unsettling. We could learn something about ourselves that points to a need for change within our historical patterning. We notice that we've fallen into a rut or perceive of ways in which what we say and think is not really lining up with what we feel is truly important. We could receive personal news or messages that makes us uncomfortable, changes our mind about something, inspires us toward a fresh perspective or that catalyzes us toward a decision to create new standards of operation in our lives. It's a relevant aspect in this chart as Uranus (in modern theory) rules the sign of Aquarius while Uranus himself is theorized to be a “higher octave” of Mercury. This may be personally unsettling information. But, the goal is think higher as there is also personal wisdom that is birthed from it. Mercury will trine Chiron in Aries on August 15 at 5:14 PM EDT. The Moon in Aquarius is still active at that time while on her way toward an opposition with Mars. The square from Mercury to Uranus occurs on August 16 at 1:07 PM during a waning Moon in Pisces.

The trine from Mercury to Chiron is not a pressured aspect. The opposition from Moon to Mars which waxes in at about the same time is rather challenging and comes with ambiguity. This will call us to self-observation to look at personal behavior patterns, what it is that is motivating us and challenge us toward experimenting with new ways to take action or gain more clear perspective on the desires that metaphorically “drive our bus.” The trine to Chiron helps us to accept our personal limitations and the fact that whatever it is that needs to be done is likely going to have to be an inside job or one we decide to do (or have no choice but to do) on our own. The square to Mercury is the discomfort of change and altering long standing ruts of routine. Thing about it is, squares leave us no choice. They bring about situations that kind of force some type of response. With Uranus in Taurus, the response we are called to make is change that will likely call for us to exit our comfort zones at least momentarily. In that discomfort, we may feel a little unstable. But, in meeting the challenge from a place of personal authenticity and aligning with a set of values that takes into consideration the benefit for the whole and not just ourselves, we may just discover a new way to think about things...or even ourselves...that builds a gentle sense of self confidence and stronger feelings of personal stability and worth. In other words, a crazy yet simple solution to what you are dealing with can emerge from this. But, we might have to ground out the anxiety that can come with this type of insight. Remember, it occurs under a Pisces Moon which is wildly imaginative but also very sensitive. Meaning the lightning bolts that come from the Mercury/Uranus square are likely to feel a lot like high anxiety. Deal with bringing that to ground first before you act in response to this information.
On August 18th, the Leo stellium begins to break apart as Mars moves into Virgo. At that time we will be tasked with taking what we've learned about ourselves and practice putting it into service or everyday application. The sign of Leo will still have heavy emphasis at that time as the Sun, Mercury and Venus will have residence.

Under our Taurus Moon, Mercury in Leo will trine Jupiter in Sagittarius as the Moon moves toward a conjunction with Uranus. Sure this can be loud voices. But, to me, I hear melodic voices rising bring forth songs that call for change within the collective that not only supports the human inhabitants but also the health of the Earth, itself, and all her beings. Most are ready and outwardly calling for change here.
Venus leaves Leo for Virgo on 8/21. Then, on the 23rd, under a Moon in Taurus which has blipped void following a trine with Pluto on the night of the 22nd, the Sun leaves Leo and enters Virgo just in time to create our last quarter Moon of this cycle with the Moon in the sign of Gemini. The clash from Virgo to Gemini is fairly easy to wrangle. Gemini is curious. It loves to communicate and ask questions. Virgo doesn't fault Gemini for this but is more geared toward finding a way to USE this information rather than just collect it. So, this last quarter will challenge us to learn to employ emotional information in a healthy way. It challenges us to think and communicate our emotions and then asks, “Ok. What are you going to do about or with that?”
On August 24, Venus and Mars meet by conjunction at 4 Virgo 08. This fuses and melds a desire to be of service with an ability to be discerning in regard to what causes or folks we offer that service to. It can also align value with motivation in a way that we realize we want to align with our evolved set of values but we are actually investing our personal resources (time, energy, money) in things that are not supportive of the same. In some ways, this makes me think of taking a minute to look at the things you are giving time, money and energy to. In regard to money, lets say you took the perspective of decorating yourself like a race car. If you physically wore all the labels that came with the goods you routinely purchased, do the values of the company you are investing in align with your own values. If not, you can begin creating change and being more picky about the ways in which you invest. That is wholly supported by the trine to Uranus that waxes from both these bodies during their conjunction. This isn't forced change. It's offered to us by choice. But, you if take a moment to do the self-assessment, any changes that need to be made will just seem like common sense. Venus finds Uranus by trine on August 26. Mars locks into trine with the same on August 28. Then, just in time for the New Moon in Virgo on the morning of August 30, both the Sun and the Moon find Uranus in trine late on 8/29 bringing an opportunity to incorporate these common sense changes into our ego and emotional system.
All that captures the essence of the energy that follows Thursday morning's Full Moon in Aquarius. From the Full Moon we are both challenged by and welcomed into change. We are given opportunity to shed old habits and mentalities while also being given opportunity to experiment with new methods of operation, ways of thinking and develop a more wise set of standards from which to personally operate. Then, by the time the New Moon in Virgo brings us an opportunity for a fresh start, we are ready to begin implementation of this change which comes more easily with Virgo energy because it is flexible (mutable) unlike the fixed energy we have been dealing with due the stellium in Leo.

See, the thing is about this Full Moon is that there it is packed with personal energy. As I said, it can be hard to see past what it is we personal want, want to do and all the issues we are dealing with on those personal levels. But, the Moon in Aquarius can be a quick (and lonely) reminder that even though what we are dealing with is highly personal...it's really not all about us. There is a whole big wide world out there and we may need to take a step back in effort to gain a better perspective of the whole of the situation while actually being challenged into realizing we could be letting our ego overpower the situation or we are placing too much emphasis on what it is we individually think we deserve. We find ways in which we are being shortsighted or even selfish. We may realize we are prone to attention seeking behavior but even that can tell us that in our hearts all we are yearning for is to be recognized and loved. There isn't anything wrong with that. It's our methods of attempting to feed that desire that can trip us up.

Let me see if I can give you an example of that. Let's say someone you love is in need. And, the first thing you want to do is swoop in and help them. But, by the time you put on your superhero cape and come to their rescue...someone else has already provided for them. Are you able to be satisfied that what you slated as your original goal (ensuring your friend receives the help they need) has been met even if it you weren't the one that got to save the day? A situation like that is a highly personal affair that will certainly tell you a lot about yourself. And, that's the very theme that comes about at this Moon.
Let's swing this toward love and relationships. Lets say you love someone with every little piece of your heart. But, being in a relationship with them has proven itself to be toxic. In that, you did choose yourself...which is what you should do. But, you still struggle with the undying love that you hold for this person. You really miss them. You really want to be in their life and have them in yours but allowing that...in the long term...is threatening to drag you into an unhealthy place. In that, you are holding tight to your sense of self-worth (Sun conjunct Venus) but the result of doing so can be excruciatingly lonely. Or, maybe this swings the opposite way. Someone has decided to move on with their life and you are not welcome in it. But...you still hold love for this person who has just shut you out. Maybe your love for them is not reciprocated. What do you do with that?

In either situation, of course you encouraged to do the healthy thing for yourself and to respect yourself in your decisions, of course. Yet, this is where folks always get mad at me in love and relationships. You have to let them go. Loving someone does not give you any kind of ownership or control over the other person. It doesn't mean that person is obligated to filet themselves in toxicity any more than you are. It means you might have to tear yourself away from your thoughts of being their “everything” and realize if you truly TRULY love this person...you will find a way to be at peace with them finding peace and love even if it doesn't come directly from you. You may have to love them from a distance. You may have to take a few steps back from your own self-importance and need for validation to let them go...with love.
I have so many personal examples of this. I guess the best one (and least heart wrenching to share) deals with a 12 year on again and off again relationship that I finally called a halt to. It wasn't for a lack of love in that relationship that it ended. This person and I just wanted two totally different things in our futures and our basic lifestyles were not compatible. There was no room for negotiation or accommodation in that. I knew exactly what I wanted and was happy in my life. So, was he. One of us could have cut ourselves short. Sacrificed our dreams or lifestyles and suffered the subsequent personal misery of that for sake of the love between us. But, neither one of us was willing to force the other into doing that. We really wanted the other to be happy. Thing is, we had to come to the realization that the others happiness wasn't dependent on the life partner we chose. We had to learn to be ok with letting the other go and allowing them to seek their happiness even if it meant that happiness was found with someone else. It's painful. To love is to grieve. That's the part of “finding love” that folks are hesitant to accept and do not like to hear. Yet, the same is true if you are raising children. Not all mothers, but the highest form of mother holds unconditional love for their child. But, we eventually have to let them go too. To begin their lives independent from us. To begin making their own decisions and carving their own way. We want to keep them near to us but, in truth, sometimes we have to hold our love for them while we watch them go. Motherhood is like that. You are both proud and heartbroken at the same time. And, that is love. All the same. What I've found though is a lot of people have a really hard time doing that because they can't see past all their own “I wants.”
This has also held true within relationships that deal with toxic family members. Problem being, even if when you discover someone is toxic, you may still hold love for them while distancing yourself for the benefit of your own health.

It all reminds me of the widow who was interviews by Humans of New York back in 2013. She says as her husband was dying she asked him, “Moe, how am I supposed to live without you? He told her, “take the love you have for me and spread it around.”
This Full Moon calls us to take a step back. Aquarius is the observer, the scientist, he defaults to logic. He's the master of clarity and aims to be inclusive while being concerned with matters of social welfare. When the Moon is in this sign, sometimes folks are accused of overthinking the emotional, being cold or even emotionally distant. But, the ability to perceive the information that the emotional body delivers us without being controlled by it is actually a mark of emotional wisdom. It does call for a bit of detachment in that instead of standing shoulder deep in the river of emotions we are connected to it only enough so that the water merely washes over our toes instead of sweeping us away in its current.

Plus, taking a moment to put some distance between yourself and whatever is happening in your life helps you to glean a more clear and logical perspective of what is truly happening and how you can respond to the situation more effectively. But, it is emphasis on the individual who is yearning for validation and love from the outside world but finds themselves feeling cast out in the cold and alone that will find this hard to deal with. Know any sense of loneliness and isolation comes with cause and information you can actually use to help yourself. Take the time to kind of step outside yourself and take a long view of the big picture without allowing yourself to devolve in terror in light of a feeling of separation anxiety...which is wholly possible at this juncture too.

Our guide at this Full Moon is the 10 of Coins. Pay day. The dividends from our past investments are reaped here and a cycle of Coins is drawn to culmination. Maybe when you cash in your chips, it's more or less than what is expected. Either way, the games are over and we get what we get. The real fruit of reward is in the wisdom, experience and lessons we glean from it more so than what we have to tangibly show for it.
As advice, the card says to relish the bounty but learn from the experience while creating space for new to grow at the same time. Full Moon's are excellent for purging and spiritual clearances. So, if you are not satisfied with what you have grown on the vine, note what you've learned but start clearing physical space to make room for something new to grow. 10's call us to acts of closure. This can be a job that ends or begins to feel unsatisfying or the breaking apart/ending of a relationship. Either way, we soon come to the realization that what we are not getting back what we invest and it's time to move on. The next two weeks allows us to shed and mourn that which is ending. But, in that astrological mix we are encouraged to never take our eyes off the horizons in the future. What was...was. For better or worse. If you keep giving and not receiving, it's time to change.
Yet at the same time, the 10 of Coins coming forth here may bring you a wonderful boost in your tangible wealth as well as reward/appreciation in relationships and a satisfactory outcome. Regardless of how the suit culminates there is something to learn and grow from. Sometimes what we actually receive from an experience can be well hidden. We may have to take a step back here to recognize the invisible blessing or note that even sometimes unanswered prayers are, indeed, gifts. Either way, this card and a Full Moon along with Mercury preparing to enter new territory are all markers of a need for closure and endings. It's not about what you reap. It's about what you have to give and share with others and whether or not you are willing to do so even without reward or accolade...or sometimes even recognition.
A Full Moon is also notorious for bring high tides of emotion with it. Again, Aquarius says to take a step back ...to perceive it all from a distance and to look less at “what I want” and more toward “the needs of the many” as in truth, we really are all connected.

“From a distance the world looks blue and green
and the snow capped mountains white.
From a distance the ocean meets the stream
and the eagle takes to flight.
From a distance there is harmony
and it echoes through the land
It's the voice of hope
It's the voice of peace
It's the voice of every man.”
