Morning Star: Daily Astrology for May 21, 2014

This morning we wake up to Moon in elusive Pisces. The emotional tides have risen. The first aspect she makes is a square to the Sun newly in Gemini bringing forth our Last Quarter Moon. This happens at just past zero degrees mutable. If you have planets in early Virgo or Sagittarius, you will be experiencing a nice unpredictable t-square. Be ready to bend, flex and move.

The Sabian Symbol for 1 degree Pisces is “A Public Market Place.” Blain Bovee calls out the theme as being “Kaleidoscope Collective.” And this point of view from the First Decan of Pisces can move and shift just like a kaleidoscope. Our personal diversities meld together in the seas of Pisces to create an ever changing scene.

The Sabian for one degree Gemini is “A glass bottomed boat on still waters.” Can you comfortably look below the surface and accept that there is life below as well as above. Can you extend the view from the marketplace of Pisces and use it to explore and enjoy the depths? Do you realize the kaleidoscope colors both our internal world as well as our external one?

This is the shifting type of tension we will experience today. If you are uncomfortable with change and inconsistency (I'm talking to my predominately fixed folks here), look to ground and move forward slowly. Surround yourself with mutables (Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini, Virgo). Watch how they naturally navigate change and uncertainty. Observe the Cardinals who view shifting circumstances as an opportunity that can be capitalized upon. Don't simply default to immobility. Move. Even if its only to dance.

The problem between Pisces and Gemini is that the air side of this equation (Gemini) likes to be social and surrounded by friends. Pisces, however, is absorbent. So a vast collection of people can bring forth a lot of emotional ambiguity and confusion. It can be a bit much for the fish. Eventually he has to swim away on his own...away from the schooled and corralled fish...to figure out what he is about versus constantly swimming in the collective emotions.

The morning tension does dissipate due to the increasing confusion of Moon moving into conjunction with Neptune that overlays the entirety of the day. It doesn't perfect until 9 PM.

There are few rules of thumb for me when dealing with Moon in Pisces in aspect to Neptune. And, I know these rules well since my Moon is at 5 degrees Pisces, in square to my natal Neptune in Sagittarius and has been drowning in transiting Neptune for the past few years.

First, drink more water. During my lunar return, I limit the amount of caffeine I take in and increase my intake of water overall. I spend time in nature to ground. I wear hematite to help deflect the emotions of others that I'm so prone to absorb. I wear tiger's eye to, again, assist with grounding and to keep myself from floating away. Amethyst is also great for a Pisces Moon. If you are going to feel the emotions of others, you might as well turn up the volume on loving and healing energy—which is Amethyst's forte.

You can set your mood to music. Make an upbeat playlist and keep it available to you throughout the day.

Today is excellent for a Spiritual or Ritual cleansing. And, finally, Pisces is all about surrender, releasing and rising compassion. Tender? Yes. But, also imaginative and dreamy if you can avoid the morose wallowing that sometimes creeps up on you when Neptune is around.

You have to be tough to be this soft.

Shape the day you want out of the ethers. Be gentle with your emotional body and steer yourself toward a quiet retreat either in nature or with water even if you only have a few moments to spend. Sometimes that is all it takes.

The tension of the Last Quarter Moon will fade quickly. But, the Neptunian energy will hang with us for awhile. Grab your floaties!
