New Moon in Scorpio 2021: The Beast of Burden

The New Moon in Scorpio ushers us through a gateway to unknown spaces. In many ways, this is brand new territory with shuffling nuance manifesting new themes and threads into our lives by way of the ecliptic. Eventually, we tumble into a Venus and Mercury retrograde through December. Bringing an interesting twist to the end of an eventful year? Few years? Folks lives, at varying speeds and degrees of severity, have been twisted and ripped inside out based on what I've witnessed (author not excluded).

That's not to say that all the fall out has been horrible. In some instances, gold fell right out of the heavy iron laden bags we have been lugging around. Yet, the presence of gold only served as momentary distraction from the continual heaviness. The never ending ever building burden.

I feel like I've said it a million times but Uranus seeks to hone and increase our abilities of expression in the sign that he travels through. Taurus is known for its stability, resolve, endurance, patience and awareness of what is upright and valuable in this world. As Uranus travels this sign all these foundations shake. In the residual wake of that, through forced practice, our personal abilities in and awareness of these areas strengthen or show their vulnerabilities.

In the body, we will see the challenges of these times manifest physically by way Taurean breakdown: the shoulders, upper back and neck brought by stress, injury (especially if you are a Chiron in Taurus native) or otherwise. Reflecting that we are shouldering too much, carrying too much, holding too much too tightly. Glycemic issues also have a tendency to rise to the fore with Taurus showing us where we are unhealthily over or under indulging. Neurological issues present with Uranus/Aqua, I've found. Due the presence of Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius, we may also experience issues with ankles, circulation or accessory/compensatory muscles.

The focus in Scorpio, however, is about elimination which frees our energies toward regeneration. And, Uranus is definitely energy that encourages us to break free. The energy representing a need to do so can present through the digestive or elimination systems of the body during Scorpio season. It can reveal itself as a blockage, heaviness or darkening in the sacral or root chakra. But, taken on an alternate level, elimination becomes a task of assessing all that we are carrying and bringing absolution to it in effort to lighten our loads. To transform, transmute and churn it all over into the soil to aid in fertilizing future life.

There is nothing quite as annoying as when one is Scorpion being mistaken for a Bull

Sometimes our fixed signs are a little stubborn. In Taurus territory, folks are resistant to admitting they cannot bear the weight of the world on their shoulders. In Aquarius territory, folks are resistant to admitting they may not know the answers. In Scorpio, our “hardest to kill” sign, we resist releasing control, admitting vulnerability and purging, forgiving or healing trauma.

As our Nodal Axis begins to transition from the mutable signs of Gemini and Sagittarius and into Taurus/Scorpio, understanding our fixed nature is going to be of great benefit. Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus will be filled with pride as we do. They have been pitching the prequel for this next chapter for some time.

Saturn in Aquarius will persist; soon, rubbing rough against Uranus in Taurus. This births forced change; no looking back evolution; new, sharp and swift regulation and sharp defiance against the outdated, non-humanitarian, status quo or non-inclusive. It involves Taurus so likely also involving matters of resource, stability, the Earth, self-worth and tangible or intangible value. Taurus is the treasure chest where we stash the good stuff. Uranus is the wrecking ball coming through smashing a lot of it because it is, perhaps, beginning to look like an unhealthy hoarding scenario. It involves Aquarius so likely also rings with themes of social justice, freedom, reform, regulation, suppression/repression, humanitarianism, networks/tribes/friends, electricity and technology/internet.

The opening ecliptic season brings both abrupt end and unexpected opportunity. Jupiter measures our adherence to faith, our ability to employ foresight and remain optimistic as he makes his final pass through Aquarius and second dive into Pisces. It's a time when wish fulfillment is not only possible but plausible due all this. Yet it comes at a time when it is so very hard to believe in the magic of wishes or the potential spark of hope in all this darkness. Driving that nail home comes as Mercury leaves Libra for Scorpio waxing in opposition to Uranus. Key words of that aspect quite literally include speaking things into existence. It's rich. It's fertile. It brings hidden matters to light and manifests in the Earthly plane (Uranus in Taurus) from Mercurial (written, spoken, thought). All possibilities that our traumas, fears or shadows taunt and laugh at us for believing in. Or potentials that we shirk away from because we believe ourselves unworthy, incapable or have lost all trust in ourselves and the support of our own surroundings or, perhaps, even feeling forsaken access to beneficial divine energies.

Which is completely the point.

So that we can be proven wrong.

And instead shown our own abilities to receive and manifest in the material world...it becomes personally undeniable but perhaps also cloaked in indescribable ways.

That's what this chapter under the New Moon in Scorpio and across the ecliptic is all about. A chapter that foreshadows our incoming experience of Venus retrograde in Capricorn which wraps itself around a Mercury retrograde from Aquarius into Capricorn. That phase comes post “getting what we want” or “having our wishes come true” and is prepared to show us the good, bad and ugly of all that. Encompassing fully a new understanding in matters of our relationship history, the structures of our morals, values and self-worth. The Mercury retrograde smashed in the mix allows us to rethink, re-adjust and re-align so that we can meet ourselves in the present day instead of allowing past and out of date versions of ourselves to steer our futures.

We discover that things that we thought were important in our past are not as desirable or comfortable now. We change our minds about what we want to have or hold. Our Venusian nature flexes, strengthens, refines and re-defines itself during Venus' long walk through the barren, quiet, dark winter forests of Capricorn.

The New Moon in Scorpio slides in on a lightning bolt on Thursday, November 4 at 5:15 PM EDT. The electric charge of her is likely palpable. A feeling of quickly waking up to certain things and becoming aware of emerging patterns and changes will fog our everyday surroundings off and on. As the New Moon progresses into the ecliptic and Mercury comes into closer proximity of his opposition to Uranus we will feel the tempo take a swift uptick. Along with that comes the potential for anxiety or calls for quick decisions, on the fly tactics and innovation along with a willingness to charge fearlessly into the future. There is no stopping the future. We might as well rise to meet it. But, to be able to rise we must release. Absolve.

Essentially, we are floating in an energetic lull right now. As big a lull as we'll get anyway from now until about mid-December. These times will go swiftly and will not be without their own catalytic events on personal and collective levels which means now is a the time to ground, set routines, check ourselves, repair what we know to be in need and position ourselves in a way that we are ready to take off. Knowing what is important to you and what it is you want in your own future are valuable assets under this Moon. It insures that we are pointed in the right direction with this astrological launches. Use this brief lull to your own advantage.

The way it is we are suggested to do that is through the advice of the 5 of Swords

5's are uncomfortable energy in any suit. In the suit of Swords, of course, we are looking at the mental realm (another sign pointing to the budding relevance of Mercury) and likely dealing with matters of sharpness...pain, conflict, loss.

The card itself is also reflective of the atmosphere we may find ourselves within the confines of this lunation. In the lull. The battle is resting but not over. We are challenged to gather and prepare for the chapters that come next by collecting from the fall out what it is we think will help us in the face of the inevitable. That brings about our struggles with identifying what is important and what it is we feel we will need to achieve it. Which leads to an opportunity to inspect the sturdiness of our own personal values, integrity, resolve and ability to stay within their boundaries as we participate in this battle.

The 5 of Swords is also a quiet card indicating that it's a good idea to keep your thoughts, plans and ideas to yourself right now. There may be few you can trust and there is certainly potential for folks around you to be operating under their own secret agenda. Again, here comes Mercury in Scorpio. That energy most definitely has its secrets.

Under this New Moon lightning pierces the sky by way of circumstance giving us glimpses of our true selves in its brief illumination. It's up to us to determine if what is revealed fits the bill of who it is we are trying to be or what have you. If it isn't we are given opportunity to restack our own decks. If it is, we are given opportunity to strengthen and hone our own sense of character and its expression.

Know the need to move forward carefully and cautiously still exists. Also know that there are things we can learn from the currently terminating phase that will help in the days to come. The scene in this Swords card shows us that time may not be something that we have to spare. It also depicts that we are challenged in the face of either a victory or defeat both of which can prove themselves fleeting. Both sides of that sword (victory/defeat) slice out and reveal the truth of our own character. Taking an active hand in defining who it is we are in either victory or defeat is just good practice under this energy. Know that the shadow impulses of those scenarios will be quite irresistible though. We may want to gloat in the glory of our victory. We may sulk and nurture our defeat using it as trophy representation of how it is the universe is out to destroy us or as reason to seethe with vengeance and despair. So, know that steering ourselves toward deliberate undertakings of character definition, maturity and self-control will not be easy. We build our own consequences here...

We manifest the seeds that will bud into our futures on this barren field of broken fucks and dreams.

Whether we realize, admit, acknowledge it or not.

Be smart.

Be present.

Be rooted.

Sow accordingly.

(and...buckle your seatbelts)
