Morning Star: Astrology for the week of October 1 to October 5, 2018

Monday, October 1, 2018

As we wake up this morning, the Moon is Void in Gemini. She will reawaken in her home sign of Cancer at 2:01 PM EDT. The “feel” of the Void Moon will linger as we enter Monday. She became Void on Sunday following a passage by Neptune and Mercury as those two met by inconjunct. Hazy. Foggy. Confusing. We could feel tired and extra sensitive as the Moon lays Void in Gemini. Then, as she enters Cancer, of course the feelings come strongly to the surface for us to deal with.

The first major aspect from the Moon in this day is a sextile to Uranus in Taurus at 4:30 PM. This supports us in being well grounded and practical while conducting ourselves in self-respectful ways which may not include accommodating the feelings of others. It also comes with the ability to detach from heavier emotions in an effort to observe them instead of being drowned by them.
This sextile is followed by an opposition to Saturn in Capricorn later in the evening. That calls us from our point of observation and heightened emotional awareness and pulls us toward direct employment of emotional/intuitive energy as well as maturity and proper boundary. It can feel heavy...but it can be used to your benefit much like a weighted blanket helps with feelings of anxiety. Grounded, mature with an adherence to goal orientation being key in all that.
Today is good for getting your bearings. Pluto has turned direct and will now march forward pushing out the sludge he has gathered during his retrograde. It's a slow turn around that will help us release our grasp and cleanse from this “sludge”...but it will take a little while before it feels better.
Pluto is going to be a player this week as his energy remains heighted, Venus turns retrograde under his rulership and Mercury finds him by square tomorrow. This calls for depth, integrity and fortitude on our part. As well as patience and a willingness toward potentially confronting fears and incorporating matters of our own shadow.

Libra doesn't enjoy being dragged from her lofty views. But, Pluto's station will challenge her to do so. To dare to look beyond the mask and see her true reflection. Avoidance could become a “thing” though as Libra can and will take that route. But, there is no escape for the brain and the potential harsh edge words/thoughts may develop as Mercury squares Pluto. The answer is steely fearlessness to look at these mental/verbal happenings in an effort to glean true meaning from what is being said to us or by us. In truth, it's more about what is not being said than the words given to you outright. It's also an excellent time to reform how we exchange information to begin with either with others or within ourselves. You can ditch self-depreciating thoughts, doubts, fears...and reform them into something more supportive and effective at this time.

October 2, 2018

Today we begin under the shedding energy of our Last Quarter Moon that perfects between the signs of Cancer and Libra before dawn. The day begins leisurely and subdued as the Moon creates a relaxed water trine with Venus and Neptune between 8 AM and 2:47 PM.
In the mental realm, however, intensity grows as Mercury tightens in square to Pluto newly direct perfecting at 8:01 PM.

Mercury square Pluto can manifest as fear, obsession, thought looping or fixation. It's best used to get to the root of fear and focus on reforming thought patterns to something more supportive. But, it can also kick start harsh words with the intent of manipulation, fear-mongering, abuse or control.
The Moon will pass through this configuration tonight giving the energy emotional impact and hangtime. This creates a Cardinal t-square that finds outlet in the sign of Aries.
The Moon passing through this configuration can equate to nightmares, headaches, paranoia or even depressed or ill thinking. The outlet in Aries suggests taking a proactive stance to combat these negative swings by employing the prowess that is Mars in Aquarius. Stand off in observance of that which you fear. Ensure that you are in a cool and well self-controlled space. Know if you need to respond quickly, Mars in Aquarius will support you in doing so. What we are looking for is a mindful and precise response toward that which is generating the negative thoughts or fears.

Whatever this Cardinal t-square with Mercury and Pluto stir up, you will want to keep it in proper perspective. The Moon moves from here to trine Jupiter in Scorpio. Wherever you are emotionally grows as the night moves forward. And, yes, the trine to Scorpio can be another indication toward nightmares. Be easy with yourself here. But, stay brave! The mind can play tricks on you and cause things to seem more dire than they really are. Fixating on fears and worries never solved anything.
The Mercury/Pluto/Moon square falls at 19 degrees. The missing leg of that found in Aries answers to the following Sabian Symbol: A magic carpet hovers over the depressing reality of everyday life in an industrial area. Again, suggesting we transcend and rise above the potential ugly and fearful in an effort to obtain a wider perspective and to keep from being sunk into the actual scene. To separate or detach from the more negative by employing the heighest of emotional intelligences. To combat those that would try to control us with fear or threats.

October 3, 2018

Following the Moon's trine with Jupiter before daylight (4:34 AM EDT), she falls into Void status until entering Leo at 5:13 PM. The emotional energy drops here. The Moon reaching Void in nice aspect to Jupiter could set the tone for a drifty morning. Or, it could leave us stewing with the mental concepts we were inflicted with the night before. It's a bit easier to navigate them without the emotional influence. We may not feel like engaging in much other than routine matters. And, with the Moon in Void status for most of the day, much will click by as scheduled so that we may ruminate while meddling in mundane matters.

Unfortunately, the night holds little comfort for us. The Moon in Leo's first aspect is a square to Uranus at around 7 PM. That's enough to stir discomfort but it is also catalyst to help us let go or release our give a damn about more negative emotional matters. The brilliant common sense of Taurus kicks in to tell us we don't have to slay ourselves with that anymore. But, it isn't something that necessarily leaves us with an ability to settle in for the night. Plus, from here the Moon moves to oppose Mars in Aquarius which could kick start a feeling of ambiguity or uncertainty about what type of actions to take moving forward.
The opposition to Mars occurs just before dawn. So, it very well could be a feeling of not really wanting to engage in the morning but, unfortunately, duty calls us to do so.

October 4, 2018

The Moon remains active in Leo following this morning's early opposition with Mars in Aquarius. She meets with Venus in Scorpio harshly around midday which is a nudge toward discomfort and a conflict between what we want and what we need.

However, the Moon finds aspect to the rest of the sky amicably following the square to Venus. At 12:22 PM, she is sextile the Sun in Libra which favors light and active social interaction. This is followed by a sextile to Mercury in Libra at 7:22 AM tomorrow which favors animated but pleasant conversations with friendly contacts. As today moves forward, we begin to feel a little better. The conflict between fixed energies breaks up and we are lightened with the addition of Cardinal Air. Discomfort makes way for levity and perhaps even...laughter.
This evening is great for entertainment venues, visits with friends or just finding the ability to more freely find ways to express our emotions. That lightly entertaining vibe follows us into tomorrow morning.

October 5, 2018

As the Moon finds Mercury in Libra by sextile today, she also finds Jupiter in Scorpio by square. The mind is active and the Moon is prone to see things from a singular point of view. Mercury encourages us to consider all sides and weigh out facts logically. However, the square from Jupiter could skew our perspective making it necessary to zoom in or out as appropriate.

Speaking of appropriateness, this is a perfect set up for someone to make some kind of joke that ends not being very funny due to insensitivity or just choosing to tease about matters that are deeply affective to the other person. Doesn't have to be on purpose. It surely can come about by accident if we are not considerate of our “audience.” Either way, the ability to not take everything too seriously does pay off. Maintain your ability to laugh at yourself. Apologize for verbal missteps if necessary. And, if something is “too much” take a few steps back from it to regain perspective.
Following the square with Jupiter, our Leo Moon falls into Void status. During this time, Venus in Scorpio officially stations retrograde at 3:06 PM. This begins the metaphorical “exorcism” of Venus. However, as the Moon is Void as she turns around, we are not likely to notice the effects of it right away. Yet, this is the point in which the “demons” that stop us in our abilities to connect with others, that usurp our access to personal wealth/abundance and the depths of our hearts will begin to rise to the surface.

You may be haunted by debt. You may feel slain by memories or happenings that involve old relationships. You may feel shut out of paradise and even a little repulsive in general. You may deal with fears that revolve around matters of intimacy or feelings of monetary or physical lack. The key being it is time to release and absolve these demons so that we may essentially purify the poisons in our hearts bringing them forth stronger and more resilient. It's that path to get to that point that can seem tortorous. Revisiting past relationships or feeling the weight of monetary or karmic debt is not a fun activity that folks willingly sign up for. Yet, as the heart purges and purifies, it will also be given chance to heal. Be gentle with yourself through that. Do not linger on self-doubt, loathing or fear of not having enough. Seek out the things that rise to the surface that are showing you what keeps you from filling your heart full of what it desires most. And, be prepared for your opinion to change in regard to what it is you want in general. That is also due to happen as this retrograde of Venus continues. But, changing or altering those concepts could be hard, initially, because this a fixed sign. Plus, it's Scorpio, so some of this quite deeply rooted. Yet, the work you do here to release yourself from negative attachment and subservient/manipulative means of getting what you want, the bigger the pay off in the end. It's much less about turning outward in search of treasure and more about turning inward delivering deep kindness and gentle care toward self, first. Then, turning outward, eventually to deepen our ties with the types of relationships that are truly worthy of our hearts investment. In the meantime, we are yanking back our investments in things that threaten to exploit us. We cut off the “soul sucking” relationships. Heal. And subsequently begin to welcome the types of Venusian pleasures that are more soul fulfilling and healthy. The latter of which occurs following the retrograde in a more punctuated way. We will know more about what is truly important to us by then and be given a chance to detach from that which is not as Venus makes her next two oppositions to Uranus. The Moon reactivates in Virgo at around 7 PM. From here she creates a beautiful Earth trine with Saturn and Uranus. This gives us personal experience, practicality, the brilliance of common sense and grounding to use in an effort to figure out any emotional issue we may be dealing with. It reminds us we have license to create our own solutions and encourages us to be resourceful and wise in doing so.
The rest of the night moves forward without major aspect allowing us to settle in for what could be the best night's sleep of the week.
