Morning Star: Astrology for the week of May 21 to May 27, 2018

Monday, May 21, 2018

Today the Moon is Void in Leo for just about the entire day. She doesn't make an entrance into the sign of Virgo until 10:03 PM EDT. The Sun has just moved into the sign of Gemini. Our first aspect is a trine from the Moon to Uranus in Taurus followed rather swiftly by the formation of our First Quarter Moon.
Under a long Void Moon it is not indicated to try to begin something new. Astrologers give lots of reasons for this but what I've found is that folks have a tendency to be emotionally/creatively disengaged under a Void Moon. That spark of creative oomph just isn't really firing off. What it is great for is resting, physical/mental detoxing, putting finishing touches on exiting projects or involving oneself in routine matters.

However, what the First Quarter Moon and the trine from the Moon to Uranus will do is call us to take what we have learned so far and put it to use. Uranus in Taurus is the genius of simplicity. We can search and search for the highly complicated answers but the most worthy and the most genius solutions are typically the most simplistic. This is a supportive aspect to wax in as we meet with the first quarter because the disconnect between Gemini and Virgo is that of learning for the sake of curiousity and learning (Gemini) versus applying that knowledge in useful ways in our day to day (Virgo) or merely separating the wheat from the chaff. That means separating truth from untruth, fact from fiction, relevant and useful information from general distraction. Either way we are looking for information that we can use and then applying it in that manner. This is the challenge this month's first quarter brings us.

The First quarter perfects just before midnight. So, in Eastern time zones some of this may be untangled in the brain as we sleep. For others, figuring it out may be the thing that keeps us awake.

This morning, before dawn, the Moon passes by a nice relaxing sextile with Venus in Cancer. Meaning, most of us do eventually settle down and get some rest. By Noon, we are rolling up our sleeves and getting down to the nitty gritty likely employing the solutions to the puzzle we decoded over night. The Moon is trine Saturn in Capricorn at 12:19 PM EDT.

All day, the Sun in Gemini waxes toward a sextile with Chiron in Aries. Aries is the sign of initiation, war and engagement. The sign of Mars. We are currently wounded in these areas and tasked with finding unique ways to deal with our sense of wounding in order to move forward. The old ways we went about things just do not work any more or we are literally physically hindered in some way.
One of my Chiron in Aries weaknesses, for example, is lack of upper body strength. I employ tools for assistance with this when a job exceeds my abilities; ask for help or use my lower body for strength when issues such as these arise. That's what Chiron in Aries will continually call us to do. To learn to cope with the shortcomings or limitations of our own Mars. It will show us our limits and task us with figuring out how to overcome them. Gemini Sun is an eager student and this set up may have us looking at new information that may help us perform on an individual level more effectively. It's a very supportive energy for just that or even for calling in circlings of friends to help us get something done.

Meanwhile, the brain relaxes and begins to imagine possibilities as the ruler of our Sun in Gemini, Mercury in Taurus, meets Neptune by sextile at 10:13 PM. If you missed out on a good night's sleep last night, you'll recapture it tonight. We begin to let loose of what is not possible and begin dreaming of what may be possible. It will be much easier to settle our brains and slip into dreamland.
Yet dreams are imminent as Mercury then goes on to oppose Jupiter at 1:54 AM. The symbolism of the dream is most important. If you can remember that, it may have hints for your future or resolutions for the past hidden within it.
It may be difficult to remember the dreamscape, however because we do become quite steeped within those aethers as the Moon opposes Neptune shortly after the Mercury/Jupiter opposition. Yet, the dreaming is ongoing as 9 minutes later the Moon joins Jupiter too. At the end of this dream we may be able to suss out/collect the relevant parts. The brain records either way even if the conscious mind does not remember.

By morning, though, it seems to all make sense as the Moon makes a trine with Mercury in Taurus at 3:10 AM. All this says to me that even in resting state the brain is a busy place tonight. We solve puzzles and dream of possibilities both good and not so welcomed. Then, we might just wake with the practical conclusion that “Oh, it was just a dream.” And, it was. Absolutely anything that has ever had any relevance in life has started that way. Merely a dream...just waiting for us to make it real.

Today, focus is brought to the emotional body by way of a trine from the Moon to Pluto at 10:55 AM. This brings a laser sharp ability to hone in on details and bring forth follow through. It is super for production efforts as it is well grounded and thorough. The Moon is Void following this trine and remains that way until entering Libra at 2:52 AM tonight...so another looong VOC day after lunch.

The Sun is production oriented too as he works on a trine to Mars in Aquarius which perfects at 10:39 PM. Only problem is this occurs 1) between Air signs and 2) while Mars is in retrograde shadow. The thing about Air Mars is sometimes it gets thinking and doing confused. Thinking about doing something is not actually doing it. Talking about doing something is not doing it either. And, that's kind of how Air Mars can operate sometimes. Mars in retrograde shadow can be indicative of a need for a do-over. So, any efforts undertaken today...actually need to be undertaken instead of just thought about or talked about. However, consider it a trial run. If the trial goes off without a hitch then Yay! If it doesn't, no worries...it was just a trial anyway right? Right? There is room to adjust and try again perhaps in a different way. That's what a lot of this sky is about for awhile anyway. Especially while Mars is in shadow, Chiron is in Aries and the two are connected by aspect...like they are right now.
The trine to Mars late in the evening could again give us the tendency toward busy brain that threatens to keep us up with future plans and ambitions.
So, what I see is a morning focus and a desire toward diligence and follow through. But, the Sun in Gemini can be easily distracted. With a Void Moon in play having gone out at a point of focus, keeping ourselves on point with what we began in the morning is the way to go. Then, we can use the social airs of Sun/Mars to casually connect with others and relieve some of the potential for brain spin as we try to go to sleep tonight. So, no..thinking about it and talking about are not actually doing it. But, we can use this to gather ideas and inspiration or just to exchange conversations with friends. Just don't expect to accomplish much until you actually “do” instead of talk/think about it.

This morning the Moon in Libra is opposed Chiron in Aries before dawn. By early morning, she is creating quite a windy trine with both Mars in Aquarius and the Sun in Gemini. I hear...gossip..clucking hens..with the potential of it spreading like wildfire. But...Mercury in Taurus will moooooo all over that. Still tongues will likely wag. It's quite a cerebral chatty type of day.

The mood changes as the day moves forward though. From here the Moon squares off with her ruler, Venus in Cancer, while also squaring off with Saturn in Capricorn. That's what we call a Cardinal t-square. Now...Juno is in Aries and within orb of filling this t-square out into a Full on Cardinal Cross. What Juno calls us to do is commit to our initiatives...to commit to taking action, in other words. While the rest of the t-square it looks a lot like resources are restricted or withheld. Perhaps we feel cast out. Alone. Shut out of paradise in some way. Juno doesn't deny the situation. She just asks us to dare to commit to moving past it...pioneering new ways. Don't have it? Commit to going after it. As long as this is done responsibly and with honor brought to how we feel emotionally, we can use it to move ahead. It might not be comfortable where we are but that could also be the very catalyst we need to move away from an oppressive situation. This all takes place between about 2 pm and 6 pm.

Now, aside from the Lunar aspects we have coming in during this day, we've got several other movements that are also relevant running in the background. The cardinal t-square with the Moon gives hint to the waxing opposition of Venus and Saturn which perfects on Saturday morning at 2:40 AM.
Prior to that, however, Jupiter will trine Neptune in Pisces at 6:02 AM Friday morning with Mercury finding Pluto by trine at 9:36 AM. The Moon is active through all this (except for Saturday morning's Venus/Saturn opposition...which we will “feel” today with the Moon's passage through that configuration). But, Mercury has been quite busy this week, no? Imagine that...at the start of Gemini season, no less. He has been softened by Neptune, hardened by Jupiter and now by way of his trine to Pluto he will deepen and become focused.
Focused? As Jupiter waxes into trine with Neptune focus is the last thing I think of. Stuff gets foggy. Things do not seem to be how they appear...it's quite a mirage. But, Mercury in trine to Pluto with both in Earth says the tidal wave of Jupiter/Neptune could very well wash up valuable shells on the beach. We need only look for them. However, if we are fearful of discovering what it is we actually need to know we could stop ourselves from even seeking the information. Fear should be dealt with and put into proper perspective first.
Jupiter and Neptune can operate like Kaa, the snake in Jungle Book. Mesmerizing. Hypnotic. But, in that...blurred state of reality (which I'm metaphorically referring to as a tidal wave) we find a nugget worth holding on to (shells on the beach). Plus, if you are an energy worker or work with magic/spell casting? Ooooh..is this ever potent stuff!

Tonight, what this is going to equate to is heavy sleep and active dreaming. There is pressure in this day but we are encouraged to commit to moving forward as Neptune/Jupiter ask us to relax and have faith. Meanwhile, Mercury/Pluto puts manifestation and power into our words. Use this deliberately but carefully knowing it will stay in force for the entirety of the day tomorrow. Keep your eyes and ears open! It's hard telling what little gems you may find! Again...deal with fears and insecurities first! Then, plan to put this to use. The moon does not reach Void status until a square with Pluto tomorrow at 5:05 PM. What we allow the brain to focus upon has a really good chance of becoming reality...so, maybe try to steer that on purpose in our tomorrow.

Friday, May 25, 2018

Before you dive into today...back up and remind yourself about what last night was all about from the end of yesterday's forecast. Take a few moments, if you can this morning, to see if you can remember your dreams or fleeting fascinations as the day went out. Then, ensure you are employing the accessible source of focus from your brain today having dealt with trust, fear and insecurities ahead of time so that you are able to focus instead of obsess. The moon is still active in Libra today. But, she is working toward a square with Pluto at about 5 PM. So, any lingering fears are going to grow and be more apparent. This is why I suggest addressing them forthright so that you can monopolize upon the good that can come from the rest of the sky. Focus. Not fear. That's the goal.

Know your words and thoughts have quite bit of power today. Don't wish for it if you don't want it. Don't say it if you don't mean it. But, if it needs to be said and needs to be heard...this is the day speak it. That doesn't mean it has to be harsh. As a matter of fact...it should be “matter of fact.” The Libra Moon is not really down with messy emotionality anyway and Mercury to Pluto from Taurus to Cap is definitely a dry “it is what it is” statement. That's enough if you are merely trying to get your point across. But, Libra will fear the blow back from others when speaking her truth especially if it is not a pretty or flattering one. That's where the blow back from the Pluto square comes in. Yet these are likely our demons and fears rising at the Pluto square. We will be quite prone to project them or putting off our plans to have those necessary conversations because of it. Deal with yourself and your fears realizing the truth is the truth whether folks like it or not. It's not up to you to parse it for them. Only for yourself.
The Moon is Void following the square to Pluto. She remains Void as Venus opposes Saturn overnight. She enters Scorpio at 9:39 AM tomorrow morning and we, my friends, are well on our way toward the next Full Moon.

Saturday, May 26, 2018

This morning, the Moon clicks over into Scorpio at 9:39 AM. Her first aspect involves a fixed t-square with Uranus in Taurus and Mars in Aquarius that colors in most of the day between lunch and 4:46 PM.
I'm laughing because I know several Scorpio Moons who are giving a side eye at this Uranus in Taurus rather nervously. Throw some Mars in there and...that's a pressure cooker waiting to happen, right?
Not necessarily. Let me tell you what Uranus in Taurus can do to Moon in Scorpio. Absolutely anything in Scorpio is prone to seethe, hold onto anger and keep grudges for eons perhaps even steering toward overkill. Yeah. It happens. Uranus can help you let loose of that. Finally help you let go of it. What? You have to hold this grudge until the person's entire bloodline expires?
Do you?

Is that what your life is about? Like...your whole life is just so you can hold this hate in your heart? Way to let someone else control you dude. Seriously. Time to like really...NOT give a damn about that anymore so you can free that energy up you've been giving away to this person so that you can use it for yourself and your own initiatives now. There will be lion, cow, scorpion and robot alike who will realize under Uranus in Taurus, quite simply, "I don't have to do this anymore. There is an easier way." Some of it will be by force. But, a lot of it will be choice. A choice to just stop and walk away.
The outlet for this fixed tsquare is in Leo. Meaning, this is all about you, really. Plus a little bit about how long you are going allow to folks to remain rent free in residence in your head. You are kind of the gatekeeper on that. Mars in Aquarius can help you stay cool calm and collected while you yank your energy back and serve as a white hot knife of severance should you decide to use it that way. If not, we've got quite a bit of over-thinking, over-obsessing and potential to devolve into feeling powerless. Take your pick.
Anyway, it does feel a little “anxious” making. The whole of this set up. The outlet still falls in Leo and that “anxious” can be turned into “lightness of being” when handled appropriately which is to cut out unnecessary energy sinks, employ actions to reduce debt and of course aim to take care of you.
At midnight we settle and sturdy with a lunar sextile to Saturn. We are comforted by a luxurious and sexy trine to Venus in Cancer at 2:55 AM. If we play our cards right in this day we could feel much lighter by the end of the of it. Then, we can steady ourselves and get back to the things that really matter like sinking fully into the Venus trine.

Sunday, May 27, 2018
The Moon is still growing fatter in Scorpio today. We likely wake up rather easily having rested well. At 3:48 PM the Moon bumps into Jupiter challenging our perspective, tempting us with the truth and on the best end, perhaps even brightening our mood. It's a good evening for comedy or horror movie. Fits well with deep conversations with folks we trust or just tackling fears...particularly any we may have in regard to our own ability to survive, debt, sex or intimacy.

By 4:23 PM we are ready to relax as the Moon trines Neptune in Pisces. This is going to help as Full Moons notoriously go hand in hand with insomnia. So, tonight we rest and overnight we restore as the Moon sextiles Pluto in Capricorn at 1:12 AM. Tomorrow the Moon is still active in Scorpio remaining so until an opposition with Mercury in Taurus at 1:25 PM. The Moon is Void until entering Sagittarius at 6:29 PM. Our Full Moon in Sagittarius pops open at 10:20 AM on May 29.
