Morning Star: Astrology for the week of January 16 to January 22, 2017

Monday, January 16, 2017

This morning we awake under the Moon in Virgo. She likely had a watery evening yesterday; but, feels somewhat restored and refocused this morning due an early morning trine with Pluto in Capricorn (6:40 AM). My suggestion is to monopolize upon the after-effects of this Lunar Pluto trine this morning. Get good and grounded. Get your priorities straight. All that. This day is chock full of “sneaky” little surprises. YAY MONDAY!

The “fun” starts at around lunchtime as the Moon makes a subtle (but possibly unsettling) inconjunct to Uranus in Aries. This feels as if something is stirring or just not right in our periphery. It's not in our faces yet. But, something feels off or something in the way of the unexpected happens. Here's something I want to point out. Jupiter in Libra, Uranus in Aries, Saturn in Sagittarius and Chiron in Pisces are kind of all working together now. These “big players” also have some asteroids joining the party by way of Lilith in Scorpio, Vesta in Cancer, Eris in Aries, Juno in Sagittarius all piled up around the late degrees of their respective signs while Hekate in Taurus holds a little further in; but, still within orb of the party. Whenever the Moon hits one by aspect, she triggers them all. You can liken this to a domino effect or a chain reaction. Both descriptions fit the bill. So, what this sneaky little inconjunct does is essentially push over the first domino.

To add a little fuel (literally) to what is happening at these latter degrees, we have the Sun just now falling out of the situation as he heads towards Aquarius. But, Mars is dragged into the mix today. A few hours after the inconjunct to Uranus, the Moon stands in opposition to our Piscean Mars (2:03 PM) and then Chiron (2:27 PM). Ah, yep. We stub our toe on something. It hurts. We want to respond and are prone to do so quickly. But, our practical Moon is a bit confused. I want to tell you to just do the right thing here. But, I have a tendency to think that figuring out what is “right” may be hard. Plus, we are probably looking at some older wounds being stirred up at the same time which works to color in the situation on an individual level. Perhaps the best thing to do is proactively care for the part of us that is wounded, first. Nurse your “stubbed toe.” Then, wait to see how this plays out before we do anything.

The consequences of what we decide to do or don't decide to do in response to the aforementioned lunar movements come home to roost in our emotional bodies as the Moon meets Saturn in Sagittarius by harsh square at 5:15 PM. This is heaviness. On the low end, Virgo Moon will worry and may even feel guilty by way of self-conviction. Or, we may meet with a Saturn figure who tells us all about what it is we should have done or not done. On the high end, (though it is anything but comfortable) this square could also bring enough grounding to help us see that what we have in front of us is difficult to wrangle WHILE ALSO delivering unto us a sense of direction. So, we are rocked. But, the rocking itself jars something loose. Focus upon the very next step in front of you. Remember where you are going. Sure. But, for now, draw your focus to the very next step.
Step mindfully. Our next major aspect finds our little fishy Mars on Chiron's hook (conjunction at 9:13 PM). Our actions will illustrate how we respond to elusive Chironic issues. We could take that little stubbed toe (which was bad enough) and not care for it properly and end up shooting off our entire foot due to unconscious and wounded animal or self-victimizing/martyring reactions. Awareness is key!
The conjunction of Mars and Chiron occurs at 21 Pisces. Again, this (Mars' entrance to these degrees) trips all those party attendees I mentioned at the beginning of today's write up in some way or another. So, there is a large swirl of energy that comes along with this. The Sabian Symbol for this conjunction reads as follows:
Divinity is at work here..

Pisces 22: Down a symbolic mountain of industry comes a new Moses. In Dane Rudhyar's “The Wheel of Significance,” he delineates this Sabian by saying it indicates “holding ourselves to the highest of standards.” In other versions of this Symbol, Moses' name is omitted but Mt. Sinai is mentioned. When, I first read this Sabian, it gave me pause. I mean, you just don't go tossing words like “Moses” and “Mt. Sinai” around without them reverberating in, if nothing else, symbolic significance! Not to mention, religious and cultural significance.
Holding ourselves to the highest of standards.
These are very shifty (?) uncertain (?) ah...CHANGEABLE global times. This will likely be a significant week in World history due various reasons. What will come of it? I have no idea. It's as if those wheels have been set in motion. It is now likened to a run-a-way train. I'm sitting over here holding my breath with the rest of the world in anticipation of the crash. I do know I cannot stop the train nor predict where it is headed. I can, however, bring my focus back to where I am standing. I can mindfully take my next step according to the direction I feel best supports the future I have in mind in my life. And, so can you.
Care for your own wounded foot. In the words of Lynda Hill from her numerous write ups on this and other Sabian Symbols, “Remember, worry is like praying for the things you DON'T want.” That, my friends, is a very true statement. Ditch worry. Do what needs to be done to help fix whatever needs to be fixed right in front of you. Redirect “worry” to “effective solution seeking.” Then, lean more toward your own sense of inner truth for direction rather than relying on someone else to spoon feed you their version. At the very least, these are certainly interesting times. On a personal level. On a Global level. On an Astrological level.

The Moon remains active through the Mars/Chiron conjunction. From here, she is waxing into a rather grounded trine with our Sun at the final degrees of Capricorn which perfects at 1:11 AM. Get your feet underneath you. Take care of your business.
Following this Earth trine the Moon is Void until entering Libra at 6:17 AM tomorrow morning.

This morning we wake up to the Moon freshly in Libra. By 1:38 PM she is debating with Mercury in Capricorn who remains in his retrograde shadow, though direct. This veritable confrontation whether it is internalized or externalized shapes the mood of the day. As the Moon moves forward she will encounter more friction. Friction between Cardinal signs often indicates a grappling of control either internally or externally. Sometimes both.

Perhaps someone in a position of authority says something that doesn't sit well with us for one reason or another under the Moon/Mercury square. Perhaps we take an authoritative stance within our relationships which produces an air of discomfort or unease. Either way, the Moon in Libra is prone to smile through it or try to bring accommodation or schmoozing to the debate table...because that is what Libra does.
Libra has a variety of tools in her tool chest that she can use here. Her most astute power, though, is in the ability to view things from the position of the “other” instead of from a singular point of view. We can use this power in response to whatever this situation may bring up. Try to see things from the “others” perspective in an effort to get a view of the situation in its entirety. Veer away from Libra's shadow tendency of being overly accommodating just in an effort to please. Be the fair judge.
Balance and clear logic along with an awareness of timing (sometimes viewed as procrastination) are also key Libran talents.

Overnight, our Libra Moon will meet both Neptune and Libra by inconjunct as Mars parallels this interaction with his own inconjunct to Jupiter. This, surge (wave) of Venus and Neptune carries us all the way into tomorrow afternoon. This indicates a call toward the higher functioning of both energies. Love. Peace. Par for the course. as we enter tomorrow's Cardinal squares that are brought to outlet by way of Vesta in Cancer. The most effective answer to any troubles we may encounter over the next few days are going to be associated with what is considered Divine Feminine energy which means love and care more while warring and killing less. Basically. Oh yeah, no one is saying that choosing those options are going to be easy. That choice remains up to you.

This morning we wake in the middle of that Venus/Neptune wave I mentioned yesterday while still under an active Libra Moon. Her next stop is a square to Pluto at 4:24 PM. The plot definitely thickens and conflict over control again rises as an issue.
This veritable undertow continues until it finds release by way of a lunar opposition to Uranus in Aries once again starting that latter degree domino effect that pulls all kinds of energy together with our other players in the sky. The inconjunct to Chiron comes just after midnight. The conjunction to Jupiter at 2:28 AM followed by an inconjunct with Mars at 3:55 AM. Finally, the Moon stabilizes a bit with a sextile to Saturn at 3:56 AM tomorrow morning just as Mars also hits a block wall with a square to the same at 4:16 AM.

It would seem we kind of float innocuously into this day only to have our raft swept up in a severe current and dropped into the middle of a storm. Then, things just start happening and unfurling really quickly. By daybreak, we've been slammed (raft and all) face down on the beach. What can you do but hold on and pray in a situation like that? So, yeah. Do that.

Thursday, January 19, 2017

After the swirling happenings of yesterday, we all wake up metaphorically pancake flat on the beach this morning. Thankfully, the Moon is Void giving us a bit time to recuperate. The square from Mars to Saturn is still locked within orb. Mobility may be restricted. Firm boundary and slow, deliberate movements are indicated. In other words, step small; but, leave solid footprint. Take care of the necessities.

At 4:24 PM the sun shifts from Capricorn into Aquarius. Less than an hour later, the Moon reactivates in Scorpio creating our Last Quarter Moon at 5:15 PM.
The answer is release. Always under a Last Quarter. Under a Scorpio Moon, what is released is severed permanently. Under an Aquarius Sun, the cut was precise. There is excellent opportunity here to severe ties with negative attachment or malefic personal habits. No matter how you look at it, though, release and clearing space are highly indicated.

This morning begins under the Moon in Scorpio sextile to Mercury in Capricorn at 6:16 AM. Folks may be talking quietly; but, they are talking. Meanwhile, Venus in Pisces is empowered by way of a sextile to Pluto in Capricorn at 8:53 AM. This is very rich. Turning up Venus power in this way is a beneficial thing. Venus is lovely in Pisces. She honors all the higher principles of love, peace and pleasure. In sextile to Pluto in Capricorn and these principles are given fortitude, Earthly manifestation and integrity. Of course, like any other type of energy, there is a low end, too. It comes through by way of manipulation of power, greed, exhausting resources, denial, death by addiction....all that. I'll take the high end, please. Essentially, what we have at this point is a hobbled Mars (from recent past); but, an empowered Venus. Interesting, no?

We also have now gaining in prominence within this day an astute mixture of both Pluto (power, rebirth, regeneration) and Neptune (compassion, empathy, dreams). Powerfully subtle. If that is a possibility. The Pluto ruled Moon finds Neptune by trine at 1:51 PM bringing a deep swirl to the emotional body. There isn't much action happening on the outside. But, there is a whole heck of a lot going on inside of us. It's all colored with personal nuance while also littered with speckles of happenings across the whole of the sea. All of which can, indeed, be quelled by the power of Venus. Love. Peace. Compassion. Caring. Empathy. Are you tired of me beating this drum yet? If so, I'll give you my best Libran answer, “Don't look at me, man. I just work here. There could be worse options.”
Drift. Dream. Feel the feels. Love someone. That's not so bad or hard, is it?

Saturday, January 21, 2017

The Scorpio Moon maintained amicable connection to our skies overnight. She danced with her ruler, Pluto, by sextile before daybreak (4:45 AM). Her next stop is a gentle but loving trine with Venus in Pisces at 6:25 AM. It's water colored but sturdy day.
By lunchtime, our deeply introspective Moon is trine Chiron in Pisces and on her way to another trine with Mars in Pisces at 8:26 PM. Flow. Release control. Relax. Let go. Absolve.
Following the trine with Mars, the Moon reaches Void status. The rest of the night is severely quiet as the internal waters continue to churn. The Moon remains Void until waking back up in Sagittarius tomorrow morning at 5:46 AM tomorrow.

but THAT is changing as I type this..

This is a great day for very leisurely and relaxing activities. Art and music are greatly highlighted as well as deepening and solidifying existing loving relationships. Since we are dealing with an extraordinary swirl of Pluto and Neptune energy, there is definitely a chance for emotions to be high. Folks will likely be very sensitive. Leaning into self-care efforts in response to this potential is just good practice. Saging, energetic clearances, meditation, dancing, praying all these things are punctuated in high significance all week. Today is no different. Keep at it.
Spending time around water helps. Staying well hydrated helps. Resting when you need to rest helps. When faced with a decision in regard to what to do next, you'll discover that as long as it's done in love..it really doesn't matter what you do.

Sunday, January 22, 2017

This morning the Moon is active in Sagittarius and in sextile to the Sun in Aquarius at 11:31 AM. This is a much lighter feel than our water colored days under the Scorpio Moon. Catch your breath. Allow a little optimism to seep through. Be purposefully optimistic.
This feel carries us through the rest of the day with no other major aspect coming from the Moon until 2:38 AM by way of a square to Neptune. Things get continually squishy overnight and into our Monday. But, for most of the day, things go rather smoothly. Monopolize upon that.
