Morning Star: Astrology for the week of January 30 to February 5, 2017

This week, Mercury in Capricorn is officially out of his retrograde shadow and ready to make quite a bit of noise. I'm sure you've noticed that travel and new executive orders (Mercury in Capricorn) that affect the same are in the news. Both, of course, Mercurian matters that do bear direct affect upon our reputation as a country (Capricorn). These issues, and likely more, will persist and grow in importance in our week to come. Also due Mercury's busyness this week, we may also see severe weather pop up as if our internal swirl becomes illustrated in the skies. This is especially true while Mercury waxes into connection with Jupiter and Uranus tomorrow. Yes, today's gray and gloomy skies could lead to more severe weather in the near future for some parts particularly in the way of severe winds or ice.
Also, Venus is now in her retrograde shadow but will transition to Aries this week giving us a rather active stellium in that sign (Mars, Venus, Uranus). After Mercury bounces off all the Cardinal planets (having already exercised his shadow and power while conjunct Pluto) and after Venus moves into Aries, we experience the pressure of our First Quarter Moon that perfects between the signs of Taurus and Aquarius.

Our First Quarter is a harshly fixed set up in which the wheels of evolution and change (Aquarius Sun) butts heads with resistance (Taurus Moon). This occurs at 15 degrees of our fixed signs putting the Moon in waxing trine to empowering Pluto in Capricorn. The Cow Moon not only has it's heels dug in but her head bowed while focusing purely on the push back.
At the very end of this, Jupiter stations retrograde and our “all planets direct” energy comes to a close. Due Mercury's heavy involvement in this week's sky and the fact that we will soon have a stellium in Aries (which includes the Moon on Tuesday and Wednesday) tells me that the pace will likely be quick throughout the course of this week. Much information will pour quickly in and the general populace will be tasked with integrating that as quickly as they can in an effort to respond effectively. I would like to pick a few “high test” days in an effort to prepare you to hit the ground running. But, in earnest, once the Moon hits Aries on Tuesday, the pace jump starts and doesn't really slow much from there...well...until the block wall that emerges at the First Quarter. To a degree it feels very much like a runaway train that suddenly smacks into a block wall. A sudden quick jolt out of the gate ends in a subsequent sudden stop. Keep that in mind as we try to keep up with this week.

Monday, January 30, 2017

This morning we wake up slowly as the Moon lingers in conjunction to Neptune at 6:18 AM. There's that potential of oversleeping, being affected by illness, emotionality or grog due this. Any preparation you completed last night to help you be ready will be greatly appreciated by this morning.

This dreamy, foggy state persists as the day moves forward. However, we do begin to grasp some traction and grounding by way of lunar sextile to Pluto at 7:28 PM and Mercury at 10:31 PM. Some may start to feel a little better. Most likely, though, this is a brief restorative interlude as the Moon does also conjunct Chiron (3:10 AM) and harshly square Saturn (7:11 AM) as we move into Tuesday.
I know that Monday's are traditionally a day for rebooting the work week. However, this Monday is less outwardly ambitious and best used toward recuperation efforts or self-care. Many folks are emotionally wrung out. Others are sick. In the midst of that we are facing down a week that is going to call for us to be attentive and on top of our “game.” Due that, if possible, use today to get yourself well positioned. If that means staying home to take care of or deal with yourself, then, do what you need to do. If you are out in the productive world, expect folks to be sensitive and emotional. Some may also be contagious. Boundary work becomes accentuated in an effort to maintain stability and focus. If you are in contact with folks, employ good personal hygiene by way of hand washing and keep your hydration levels high.

Grounding stones such as hematite, shard and jet are excellent help for maintaining boundary and offsetting some of the wateryness of this day. If you are home and healing, stones such as larimar, angelite and citrine are highly beneficial. Tiger's eye can help ground, protect and energize which makes it a good option for the day as well.
The main things to remember today are along the lines of slow, easy and patiently while stepping up efforts at boundary and hydration for best results. The pace will pick up from here. So while we may not be able to maintain a slow pace throughout, grounding, boundary and hydration remain at importance in an effort to be able to channel the incoming antsy electricity that is about to effect all matters of Mercury (thinking, communication, travel, etc).

Tuesday, January 31, 2017

This morning the Moon is leaving her conjunction with Chiron and headed straight toward the sobering harsh realities of Saturn in Sagittarius by square (7:11 AM). This can denote grumpiness or depression. However, it can also be used for increased boundary and grounding. Serving just the right amount of reality and truth we need to gain traction within this day. Now, I didn't say it was fun or that it felt good. Moon square Saturn rarely ever does. However, we can walk on it. The ground is steady but the feeling is rather cumbersome.
This dour affect persists through our morning hours. From here, the Moon waxes toward a conjunction with Venus still in Pisces (12:36 PM) and the Moon reaches Void status. This is the pause folks. This is the place to get your final footing. It may also cause a feeling of sinking ache that will need to be addressed prior to what we have on tap next.

The Moon remains Void until entering Aries at 4:47 PM. At that time, the general mood shifts significantly. The Moon's next stop is a conjunction with Mars (9:52 PM) that coincides with the perfection of Mercury in square to Uranus in Aries (10:32 PM). BOOM! The train bolts out at top speed and EVERYONE is certainly AWAKE. Expect a whole lot of angry folks who are spewing expletives in response for various reasons. Social networks will be a flurry of potentially volatile exchange. We may see some very extreme exchanges and folks may indeed take impulsive and seemingly rebellious action in response. It all seems to happen very, very quickly indeed and illustrates a huge shift in the energy we have had leading into this week.

Mercury in harsh aspect to Uranus is very catalyzing. It has a very sharp tongue and a quick sword. As it coincides with a lunar conjunction to Mars in Aries, the energy is also poised with violent inclination. The aspect is said to bear genius potential. However, there is a very thin line between genius and madness. By harsh aspect and this energy prefers to jump rope with that line rather than stand on one side or the other. I have no doubt it will be hard to manage this without building regret.
The main thing, in the words of my Aries grandfather who suffered both a Mars and Mercury to Uranus affliction, is not to get excited. Once you let this energy piss you off and cause you to react unconsciously or erratically, it's too late. Things spiral out too quickly to take anything back. However, if you can slow yourself down enough and are able to effectively handle/address your own hot head, you can stay in front of this catalytic energy instead of having your ass burned by it...basically.
Previous and continual efforts at grounding (are you tired of hearing that yet) and boundary really pay off here as well as the efforts you took to maintain proper hydration. If you overloaded yourself with chemical stimulants and sugars, you are surely going to feel the malefic effects of those now. So, veer away from those (as tempting as they may be) in the early part of this day for best results. Tiger's eye still works well here. But, for the Mercury/Uranus square, stones such as turquoise, lapis lazuli, sapphire and emerald are going to help channel this erratic energy due their clear and cooling properties. And, veritable “cooling” (along with grounding) is going to be essential to meting this energy out at its highest vibration. Copper and silver jewelry also help with the conduction of this veritable electricity. Wooden pieces also help.

Know though that if you are able to harness this that does not mean everyone else will be willing or able to. There will be more than one metaphorical train pushing mindlessly ahead at full steam here. Watch for them while knowing the best thing to do in that instance is side step out of the way. On the low end, this is manic, unstable, erratic and potentially cruel. On the high end, it is self-persevering, inventive, pioneering, brave, focused AND deliberately calmed and cooled allowing the potential genius of the Mercury/Uranus square to make itself accessible. Even if you can tap into the higher end of this wave, it's likely to be teeth gritting. That's why they give you that little thing to bite on before they send literal electrical shocks through your system...cause your body wants to clench it's jaw. For real, focusing on releasing the tension in that jaw as a result helps. How you traverse this day is going to be dependent upon how well you handle your own anger and respond to potentially catalyzing information.
Sleep is likely going to be elusive tonight. Folks are pretty wound up for one reason or another. Be mindful. Think about what you are doing. Invoke pause. Don't allow something to infuriate you to the point that you do something erratic that you may eventually regret. There is nothing “stable” about this. Any stability has to be deliberately fostered by you. There is nothing pretty or easy about this day. But, it will likely “inspire” you to move in some way. Cattle prods and lightning bolts are fairly effective in that way.

Wednesday, February 1, 2017

Yesterday's angst follows us into today as the Aries Moon remains active and Mercury continues to receive shocks to his system by the way of his (now waning) square to Uranus. However, we start to be better able to wrangle the energy as the Moon moves into sextile with the Aquarius Sun at 3:51 PM. This is easier to manage energy that shows us how mindfulness does pay off. We bravely enact change here in an effort to forward our agenda rather than get startled into action like we potentially were last night. This is a smoother more aware forward motion that is worth holding yourself at bay.
It is, however, brave and forward moving. It is also inclusive and bears in mind humanitarian efforts that benefit the globe moreso than individualized concerns. This is where we are called to look beyond what is best for the individual and blend that in ways that benefit the whole of society. It's less loud and impulsive but still focused on birthing positive change. It also reminds us that there is power in numbers and in collective movements. A group of motivated individuals chasing down a definite cause can make much more headway than one person alone. We will surely see that here.
There was likely some that took to the streets yesterday. By today, those folks are more highly organized, locked arms and pushing forward in regard to the agenda they have chosen to support. If this happens, remain wary and alert while keeping safety initiatives at the forefront. There will be push back.
By 9:30 PM, Mercury is sextile Chiron. The tone may turn emotional and triggers may be tripped. We openly acknowledge the ache of the collective pain and are directed to assess our own possibly elusive biases connected with the situation. Pleas for peace and accommodation are likely heard. Unfortunately, this cry is likely met with force instead of compassion.
At midnight our Moon squares off with Pluto. The “powers that be” Capricorn takes a hardline stance in response to what is going on and attempts to manipulate the agenda by force. This can be dangerous. However, it can also imbue the individual with the fortitude, bravery, tenacity and focus he/she needs to hold their ground.
This feels like a very severe and potentially terrifyingly quiet dull gong. Almost as if the air is sucked out of the room for a bit in response to the forcefulness. If you've ever experienced back draft in terms of fire, then you know exactly what is happening here. A veritable explosion is forthcoming as all this continues to snowball from here. Before the Sun rises in the morning, the Moon is explosively conjunct Uranus in Aries (5:30 AM). This lights up the waxing Cardinal t-square that involves Mercury in Capricorn, Uranus in Aries and Jupiter in Libra that will shuttle into our Thursday quite powerfully. The Moon (the collective/individual emotional body) is thrown right in the middle of it. Yeah. That crazy train is moving forward at full capacity by now. Buckle your seat belts.

Thursday, February 2, 2017

Sleep was likely once again an elusive entity overnight. I want to say we hit the ground running but I don't know that our feet ever left the ground to start with. We are definitely awake. Many are likely nervous and anxious due to both the Moon's involvement with Uranus this morning and Mercury's ongoing interaction with the Lightning God overlaying that. Today, we are going to blow all that up (expand it and put it under the spotlight) with Jupiter thrown in the mix.
By 8:53 AM, the Moon is officially square Mercury. The angst of the past few days and the lack of sleep could lead to headaches and a frazzled emotional system. This could also denote interaction with authority (Capricorn) as a result of our Aries initiatives. Meanwhile, Mercury moves into square with Jupiter 10:16 AM as the Moon holds at opposition to the same (9:01 AM).

What's important to remember about this is that Jupiter is stationing to turn retrograde. That means that his energy is vibrating very astutely right now. He is an even bigger factor than he typically is, in other words. Emotions have a chance to become severely overblown. Verbal statements and Mercurian matters blossom in over-reach and are likely sensationalized. Factions such as the press, legal entities and policing factions are highly in play.
We are also going to want to deliberately employ the higher functions of Jupiter in Libra. These are justice, truth, equality, law, order, open discussion/debate, inclusiveness, logic, reason, generosity and humility. Know that Jupiter's shadow is going to be strongly in play here too. This includes selfishness, over accommodation, “prettying up or masking of” the truth, procrastination, overly passive-aggressiveness, false plays at making nice and overly gregarious and exploitative acts. It will be easy to tell the difference. One will be very loud but lack substance. The other will be quieter, more gentle and more inclusive.
The outlet for this t-square falls in Cancer. Right on Vesta. Begging us to bring homage to the concept of Cancer and to put on display her highest function. Care. Gentle enduring strength. Emotional fortitude. And, also, the fiercely protective and brave nature of Mother. The lioness protecting her cub. Your ability to consciously direct and work with your emotions becomes a veritable super power here.
Thankfully, there is opportunity to bring a bit of order and common direction to what is happening within our emotional systems by way of a trine from the Moon to Saturn in Sagittarius (11:51 AM). This trine is still active and forward moving but much more stable and has an assured direction.
From here, the Moon is Void. If you look at the time frame here, you'll see this all happens VERY quickly. As in...before noon, even.

The Moon remains Void (and many will breathe a sigh of relief due that) until she enters Taurus at 8:51 PM. Things do settle for a bit overnight. Monopolize upon this little pause and try to regain your footing, calm down, get some rest and regroup.

Friday, February 3, 2017

Today is likely the day that all runaway crazy trains hit a brick wall...that is...if it hasn't happened already. That is, of course, a metaphor. What is more likely is that any kind of runaway agenda is met with a bunch of steadfast cows that simply say rather sternly, “No.”
I don't know. Ever tried to get a Cow to budge when it didn't want to? Yeah. It's a lot like that.
This morning we wake up to the Taurus Moon seemingly much more subdued than previous days. Seemingly. In other words, there may not be a lot of external movement going on. But, I assure you strength is being expended by way of steadfastness.
Venus, the ruler of our current Moon, also moves into Aries at 10:52 AM. AHA! So, THAT'S how you get a cow to move. You dangle incentive in front of them. A cow wants what a cow wants and in this case it begins to move toward it. Perhaps we find that luscious bed of clover, fill our bellies and lay down for a brief nap as the Moon waxes into sextile with Neptune at 3:10 PM. Just as we get comfortable (and complacent)...thunder starts rolling on the horizon. There is a push coming for us that threatens to drive us from this newly found “comfort zone.”

Honestly, this makes me laugh a little...thinking of the metaphoric illustration of this. But, it's really not (and isn't going to feel) very funny. That thunder takes the form of a drum call that says “CHANGE! CHANGE! CHANGE!” by way of our First Quarter Moon that perfects at 11:19 PM. What's kind of funny about it is, in response, the cows stand up and say only one word, “No.” The push to change keeps coming. But, the Moon digs in her heels by way of a trine to Pluto in Capricorn (3:39 AM) and pushes back very powerfully and very steadily. “No. No. No.” The Moon refuses to budge. Heels are dug in. Change is resisted. Personal values are used as footholds. Our crazy train crashes to a halt. The wheels of forward motion meet with immobility and a very strong and powerful resistance. There is only one energy that I know of that can out stubborn a Taurus and that is Scorpio. However, the ruler of Scorpio (Pluto) and the Taurus Moon are on the same side luck changing anyone's mind about the stance they are taking now. It's going to be personal. It's going to feel like a “No compromise” and folks will dig in their heels and push back accordingly. It's best to choose your own position and hold your ground instead of trying to push anyone else off their path right now.

The Sabian Symbols for this hardline First Quarter Moon read as follows:

For the Sun at 16 Aquarius: A business manager at his desk studies a complex project. This symbol calls for focus, thinking and concentration. All of which are really hard to do when the emotional body is in flux. In that, dealing with our emotional bodies is the first task we must address. Once we have a deeper understanding of how we feel and why, we can then invoke the logical brain toward problem solving. We need to be in command here. Consciously steering from the helm in order to manage the situation. This symbol also reminds me of the 8 of Coins. We have experience that we have previously built to get us to our current plateau. It's now time to take that experience and acquired wisdom and stretch it into new ventures while leaving ourselves open to learning and experiencing more.
By the way, this is also the Symbol for the Moon during the Full Moon Eclipse on 8/7/17.

For the Moon at 16 Taurus: Old man tries hard to impart hidden truths to a crowd. Wisdom wants to be heard. Some want to take the “sting” out of what is happening and bring some common sense to it. But, few will want to hear that. Calm and cool have no place when folks are feeding off adrenaline and have their heels dug in. Our metaphorical words of wisdom coming from age and experience (as well as a place of common sense) could very well fall on deaf ears. Our old man could feel as if he is casting pearls before swine or talking underwater. But, the wise are the ones who listen and keep pounding the drum of truth even when they may feel as if no one is really listening.

Saturday. February 4, 2017

Today the resolve in resistance is still in force. Chinks in the armor and vulnerabilities are exposed as the Moon sextiles Chiron in Pisces at 11:06 PM. Our soft underbellies are poked at as we attempt to push back. Shore up any soft spots with protection while allowing yourself to maintain a compassionate outlook that recognizes, acknowledges and works with (instead of denies) perceived weaker spots.
By 5:42 PM, our Moon is trine Mercury in Capricorn. We are talking, at least. But, if the speech is not practical, doesn't adhere to the issues at hand and only tries to push folks around the push back becomes more fierce. At it's highest, though, these discussions can bring folks together in an effort to find common sense (HOLY SHIT WOULDN'T THAT BE NICE??) answers to the table.
In other words, what you have to say had better be practical, had better be responsible and had better include some sort of plan for realistically addressing the issues at hand or just. Shut. Up. Because, the cows don't care, man.

Following the trine with Mercury the Moon is Void until entering Gemini at 11:45 PM. Thankfully we will meet with a little more flexibility. However, it will be an ongoing struggle under that Moon to get to the truth. Everyone is going to have an opinion. Some of those opinions are going to be based in truth while others are going to be based in naïve and possibly ill informed opinion. Either way, everyone is going to be talking about how they feel about it for better or worse. Hold on to what you KNOW to be true. What you witnessed with your own two eyes. What you heard with your own two ears. Because, under the Gemini Moon, your (everyone's) sense of reality is likely to be challenged.

Sunday, February 5, 2017

Overnight, the Moon gently danced with Venus in Aries (1:52 AM) helping us to get limbered up for today as we move from that locked in point of stasis we found ourselves in under the Taurus Moon. By 10:16 AM, the Gemini Moon is in sextile with Mars in Aries and folks are mobile. Things, for a bit, seem to clear up. Folks are moving around and handling the chores on their agenda.

However, by 5:54 PM that forward motion meets with the chance of hydroplane as the Moon squares off with Neptune. The tides rise. The weather dampens and what was so real and factual not too long ago is now skewed. This is where your personal “reality” begins to be tested. You might hear, “No, you didn't see what you saw. That's not how it happened.” Various opinions of the emotional nature begin to leak out. Black and white is blurred by nuance. Questions are asked. Confusion enters the room like a gaseous fog and folks become more and more sensitive and disoriented as the day moves forward....
just in time for Jupiter to say...”Hey, wait a minute...let's go back and take a look at the FACTS of what really happened.” He officially stations retrograde at 1:36 AM tonight which will feed into tomorrows veritable windstorm of information exchange as the Gemini Moon meets the Aquarius Sun by trine at 5:40 AM.

Today's brief influx of water gets blown away tomorrow as the winds duly pick up and sustain momentum until the Moon finally stands off with the ultimate truth by way of an opposition with Saturn tomorrow evening at 5:54 PM. Flexibility remains key throughout as well as being able to intelligently put how you feel about the issues at hand into words. Listen to alternative perspectives (as if you'll have a choice) but don't let anyone convince you that you didn't see what you saw or heard what you heard. The truth is the truth regardless of how someone wants to spin it. That will prove itself soon enough.

Morning Star: Astrology for the week of January 23 to January 29, 2017

Monday, January 23, 2017

This morning we are likely a little groggy as the Moon in Sagittarius met Neptune by square overnight. Mercury in Capricorn is also waxing into aspect (sextile) with Neptune which is due to perfect around 4:30 PM.

During the meat of the day, folks are likely to be a bit subdued. Minds wander and drift. Focus is hard to maintain. Music can definitely set a tempo to work by, though, if you choose. Time will have a tendency toward weirdness either feeling as if it is dragging or slipping right by you. Communication also runs the risk of being confusing, dripping with sentiment or veiled with outright lies or inaccuracies. Definitely fact check and/or ask for clarification when necessary. Otherwise, this aspect is flowy and creative allowing us to bring some ideal visions into tangible creation and causing us to be quite artistically inclined by way of music or poetry.
Also, due today's Mercury/Neptune interaction, it is a good idea to keep your schedule flexible. Write down important things you need to remember. Stuff may not happen in neat little time boxes. Flow and flexibility are needed as well as a solid sense of direction. Master that and you can accomplish quite a bit within this day.
By 11:37 PM the Moon is in an uplifting and inspiring trine with Uranus in Aries. This is quickly followed by a square to Venus in Pisces at 11:57 PM and a square to Chiron at 1:50 AM. While the trine with Uranus is airy, the subsequent squares with Venus and Chiron are uncomfortable. It may not be the best night for a comfortable sleep. Our insides are kind of busy. Our emotions are astute. However, I do suggest attempting to get a good night's sleep if at all possible.

Warm baths and refraining from taking in too much artificial stimulation throughout the day will help. Taking a few minutes to unwind and enact a little self-care at the end of the day (foot soaks and massages also fit well) are highly indicated to help us to rest better.
Before daybreak, the Moon will sextile Jupiter in Libra (3:40 AM) and conjunct Saturn in Sagittarius (5:39 AM). This will wake us up on solid ground with a renewed sense of purpose. On the low end, it can cause depression or a feeling of “so much to do” which is rather cumbersome. A good night's rest will help to offset that so we wake up refreshed and ready to go instead of just dragging ourselves through the day just to get by.

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

This morning we wake up under the Sagittarius Moon just leaving a sobering conjunction with Saturn (5:39 AM). By Noon, we are dealing with an ambiguous lunar square to Mars in Pisces. Most of the time, I find the discomfort factor between Sagittarius and Pisces has to do with volume and exposure. Loud boisterous noises startle little fishies. Plus, Sagittarius is much more comfortable in the spotlight for the most part than Pisces. What this square says to me is though you have big plans to be such a little fish, there is no need to boast about them. There is no need to go showing off. There could also be a bit of confusion that arises here in regard to motivation or how things should occur in chronological order. Remember, the only part of this you need to worry about is the very next step. One thing at a time.

From here, the Moon is Void until entering Capricorn this afternoon (5:44 PM). All the while, Venus is moving in for a conjunction to Chiron at 1:49 AM. This conjunction can indeed bring forth tears and a haunting heartache. However, it can also show you the benefit of becoming aware of and lovingly addressing the sources of your Chironic pain. Now that you know where and why it hurts, you can care for it. Love it. Accept it as part of you and, even, forgive it if you choose. Gentle acknowledgment of the pain and lovingly addressing and caring for it is the key. It's OK to hurt. It is not OK to disregard your hurt or try to bury it, deny it or escape it.

The Moon meets Neptune by sextile at 2:08 AM. This is a nice aspect to cradle us into sleep. Rest well.

Wednesday, January 25, 2017

This morning we wake up to the Moon leaving her sweet sextile with Neptune and waxing toward a conjunction with Mercury in Capricorn. This creates a solid format from which we can operate today. The ground takes form under our feet. Our schedule lines out just like it is supposed to and our plans unfold ahead of us in a step by step format. Mind and emotion are aligned.
This feeling carries us through most of our day. Then, overnight the Moon begins to swamp up due a conjunction with Pluto at 4:23 AM. Tomorrow morning may pack a dose of dread and fear. But, for the most part, today clicks right along.

The Moon is still steadily waning as we move toward our New Moon in Aquarius. That makes today excellent for tying up loose ends or bringing existing projects to completion. We are releasing, clearing out and finishing up in preparation for this sparkling new start ahead of us.
Do know, though, that tomorrow's lunar movements begin with Pluto darkening our doorstep and that is followed with increasing tension from the rest of our sky that resides in Cardinal. It is certainly do-able but it is pressurized. Dig deep for integrity and fortitude in an effort to gently push through. Don't allow tomorrow morning's darkness scare you. You have plenty of light within to chase it away.

Thursday, January 26, 2017

As I mentioned in yesterday's write up, today, the Moon is pressurized. We begin before sunrise with a conjunction to Pluto. This can kick start a sense of paranoia and dread. Fear or a feeling of impending doom. But, it can also deliver a certain sense of fortitude and integrity to the emotional body. Fear becomes fearlessness. Dread becomes a willingness to roll your sleeves up and get to work. Impending doom becomes a certain amount of self-empowerment to deal with whatever the day may bring. Senses are astute and intuition is kicking if nothing else.

By 10:19 AM our Capricorn Moon is in square with Uranus in Aries and working on a subsequent square to Jupiter in Libra which perfects at 2:16 PM. The best way to wrangle this is to work together in an effort to foster new and inventive ways to address longer standing problems. The outlet for this t-square falls in Cancer. Meaning, if you can handle your emotions and work WITH them instead of trying to shut them out or damn them up, you will be able to weather this day much more effectively.
However, there is a sense of anxiety that can come from lunar interaction with Uranus. Jupiter in Libra can expand and exacerbate this potential. Use the fortitude from the lunar conjunction to Pluto to help you gently power through. Yes, there are obstacles. But, together, we can find solutions as long as we are not afraid to try and are willing to collaborate.

The day does begin to smooth out as we get a little deeper in. The Moon finds Venus by gentle sextile at 3:06 PM. This is followed by a sweet interaction with Mars overnight (sextile at 2:18 AM). We come in under pressure but leave the day gracefully. Following the sextile with Mars, the Capricorn Moon is Void until entering Aquarius at 3:37 AM.

Friday, January 27, 2017

This morning the Moon dances into lovely Aquarius. She is dark, a mere sliver if not completely blacked out. This is surely the time to be thinking about what types of intentions you would like to set for our New Moon which perfects at 7:08 PM tonight. All planets are direct. The sky is filled with the hopefulness and promise of the sign of Aquarius. This IS the Moon that we should use to set long-term or short-term goals in the interest of creating a better more “together” world.

The only drawback here is Venus in Pisces is also squaring Saturn in Sagittarius (12:51 PM). This is not necessarily joyful. But, it is very sturdy and quite realistic which can actually help us solidify in intention what it is that we yearn for. Venus in square to Saturn by transit (especially if you don't have Venus/Saturn interaction in your natal chart) can feel lonely and restricted. Resources may be low calling us to increase our abilities at being resourceful and respectful (showing gratitude) to the resources we do have. Yes, counting your blessings is much more important here than looking for what you don't have. This is a mature, solid sense of love and comfort. Beauty all grown up. The blessing of wisdom and age and patience. It is also boundary allowing us to wrap current loves up in appreciation and standing on the solid ground that love has created in support. Yes. It can ache. But, it can also ache beautifully allowing us to see exactly where the holes are that love can fill. It can also create ethereal love manifest by the way of maturity and grace. Furthermore, if we are acting or setting intentions using the power of hearts by way of Venus in Pisces, Saturn incorporates that solidly into our path forward.

Our New Moon dawns at 7:08 PM at 8 Aquarius 15. The Sabian Symbol for the degree of this lunation reads as follows: In meditation a flag is seen which changes into an eagle. Here what was previously internalized comes spiraling outward....blossoming from stasis that relies on a breeze for movement to movement that monopolizes upon use of the wind. Internal spirals outward in a blossoming way. Inspiration takes flight. We are given the power of perspective and a clear view of the horizon advises us of any impending blocks or dangers.
The ruler of this New Moon, Uranus, falls on Aries 21: A pugilist flushed with strength enters the ring. This symbol is illuminated on and off throughout the year. It denotes the rush of adrenaline that comes prior to engaging in something big. The secret to working with it this year is to learn to direct that adrenaline purposefully and non-violently in a way that enacts positive change by inclusiveness and collaboration. In other words, this is the year that world understands the power and abilities found in fighting like a girl. And, you know what? It's about damn time.

Last week's global marches showed us exactly what women coming together can do. Anyone there or observing felt the powerful yet graceful strength of that wave. Gently. Nobly. Strongly and lovingly ferocious. Don't you ever forget that day. And, don't let it end with just one day. Let it empower you to go back home and become involved in your community. I don't care if it's politics or merely taking a walk through your town to pick up trash. Create networks. Come together like long time girlfriends do. Use that power to create positive change. The world is in NO better hands than those of a strong women who knows the seat of her power resides in her heart. Her influence through her gentle guiding hand. The power of her unwavering but gently roaring voice. Know your power. Use it to seed positive change in the darkest most desperate corners in the world. It is time. There is plenty that LOVE can do.
Just after midnight, Mars moves into his home territory of Aries. This kick starts motivation and inspires engagement. If you felt a sense of drag before, it is likely going to begin to dissipate now. We are positioned for full steam ahead.

Saturday, January 28, 2017

Speaking of “coming together” and “collaboration” the only major aspects the Moon makes today support exactly that notion. The Aquarius Moon sparkles away aspect free for most of the day. Then, by 6:40 PM she is sextile Uranus in Aries while also working toward a beautiful light and airy trine with Jupiter in Libra. This is a lovely set of aspects for a gathering of friends or meetings in regard to collaborative projects. At midnight, the Moon sextiles Saturn in Sagittarius and brings formation and grit to these plans and collaborations. We see exactly how the world can be affected when individuals come together with a common, loving, open-minded and hopeful agenda.
This is great for gatherings of friends. Getting out and enjoying entertainment. Collaboration efforts as I've mentioned. It feels really good and with Mars now in Aries we are sooo ready to move forward. Why not do that hand in hand?
Following the sextile with Saturn, our Aquarius Moon reaches Void status. She remains Void until entering the watery world of Pisces tomorrow at 11:11 AM.

Sunday, January 29, 2017

This morning, the Moon rests quietly in Aquarius. But, just beyond the horizon there is a storm brewing. Mercury is inching toward his official conjunction with Pluto (3:18 PM) which will also usher him out of his retrograde shadow. Plus, the tides are due to rise once the Moon enters Pisces.
Now, may hear words of forcefulness, words meant to scare you into submission, words meant to control you. But, the power of Mercury/Pluto here is also yours instilling you with a sense of fearlessness, tenacity and fortitude. Solidify your intention for a better more inclusive world within yourself. Don't let anyone talk you out of being loving by way of threats. Love is so much stronger than fear.

As the Moon enters the soft world of Pisces, hearts may melt, eyes may leak and we all become a bit more sensitive as well as empathic. Any darkness that comes forth from the Mercury/Pluto conjunction can be offset with an adherence to an agenda of love and creation. That is going to leak forth from our gentle emotional systems today. We can cry. We can grieve. But, we cannot quit.
The Moon continues to drift and become more and more permeable as the day moves forward and she waxes toward a conjunction with Neptune in the early morning hours of our Monday.

That makes today great for gentle but powerful acts of kindness. If you need to take some alone time to regain your footing, it's good for that too. It's wonderful for prayers and for dealing forthright with any fears you may have. Speak with power, resolve and gentleness. Bear in mind, that in this kind of movement (the gentle loving push of forward motion), there is no need for competition. All that is needed is a common sense of direction backed by purity of heart and intention.
It is also, on the most mundane level, a good idea to take a few minutes at the end of this day and prepare for the morning. Things will certainly be watery. We will be prone to forgetfulness and distraction. Having things all lined up and pre-readied to go is going to help a great deal.

Morning Star: Astrology for the week of January 16 to January 22, 2017

Monday, January 16, 2017

This morning we awake under the Moon in Virgo. She likely had a watery evening yesterday; but, feels somewhat restored and refocused this morning due an early morning trine with Pluto in Capricorn (6:40 AM). My suggestion is to monopolize upon the after-effects of this Lunar Pluto trine this morning. Get good and grounded. Get your priorities straight. All that. This day is chock full of “sneaky” little surprises. YAY MONDAY!

The “fun” starts at around lunchtime as the Moon makes a subtle (but possibly unsettling) inconjunct to Uranus in Aries. This feels as if something is stirring or just not right in our periphery. It's not in our faces yet. But, something feels off or something in the way of the unexpected happens. Here's something I want to point out. Jupiter in Libra, Uranus in Aries, Saturn in Sagittarius and Chiron in Pisces are kind of all working together now. These “big players” also have some asteroids joining the party by way of Lilith in Scorpio, Vesta in Cancer, Eris in Aries, Juno in Sagittarius all piled up around the late degrees of their respective signs while Hekate in Taurus holds a little further in; but, still within orb of the party. Whenever the Moon hits one by aspect, she triggers them all. You can liken this to a domino effect or a chain reaction. Both descriptions fit the bill. So, what this sneaky little inconjunct does is essentially push over the first domino.

To add a little fuel (literally) to what is happening at these latter degrees, we have the Sun just now falling out of the situation as he heads towards Aquarius. But, Mars is dragged into the mix today. A few hours after the inconjunct to Uranus, the Moon stands in opposition to our Piscean Mars (2:03 PM) and then Chiron (2:27 PM). Ah, yep. We stub our toe on something. It hurts. We want to respond and are prone to do so quickly. But, our practical Moon is a bit confused. I want to tell you to just do the right thing here. But, I have a tendency to think that figuring out what is “right” may be hard. Plus, we are probably looking at some older wounds being stirred up at the same time which works to color in the situation on an individual level. Perhaps the best thing to do is proactively care for the part of us that is wounded, first. Nurse your “stubbed toe.” Then, wait to see how this plays out before we do anything.

The consequences of what we decide to do or don't decide to do in response to the aforementioned lunar movements come home to roost in our emotional bodies as the Moon meets Saturn in Sagittarius by harsh square at 5:15 PM. This is heaviness. On the low end, Virgo Moon will worry and may even feel guilty by way of self-conviction. Or, we may meet with a Saturn figure who tells us all about what it is we should have done or not done. On the high end, (though it is anything but comfortable) this square could also bring enough grounding to help us see that what we have in front of us is difficult to wrangle WHILE ALSO delivering unto us a sense of direction. So, we are rocked. But, the rocking itself jars something loose. Focus upon the very next step in front of you. Remember where you are going. Sure. But, for now, draw your focus to the very next step.
Step mindfully. Our next major aspect finds our little fishy Mars on Chiron's hook (conjunction at 9:13 PM). Our actions will illustrate how we respond to elusive Chironic issues. We could take that little stubbed toe (which was bad enough) and not care for it properly and end up shooting off our entire foot due to unconscious and wounded animal or self-victimizing/martyring reactions. Awareness is key!
The conjunction of Mars and Chiron occurs at 21 Pisces. Again, this (Mars' entrance to these degrees) trips all those party attendees I mentioned at the beginning of today's write up in some way or another. So, there is a large swirl of energy that comes along with this. The Sabian Symbol for this conjunction reads as follows:
Divinity is at work here..

Pisces 22: Down a symbolic mountain of industry comes a new Moses. In Dane Rudhyar's “The Wheel of Significance,” he delineates this Sabian by saying it indicates “holding ourselves to the highest of standards.” In other versions of this Symbol, Moses' name is omitted but Mt. Sinai is mentioned. When, I first read this Sabian, it gave me pause. I mean, you just don't go tossing words like “Moses” and “Mt. Sinai” around without them reverberating in, if nothing else, symbolic significance! Not to mention, religious and cultural significance.
Holding ourselves to the highest of standards.
These are very shifty (?) uncertain (?) ah...CHANGEABLE global times. This will likely be a significant week in World history due various reasons. What will come of it? I have no idea. It's as if those wheels have been set in motion. It is now likened to a run-a-way train. I'm sitting over here holding my breath with the rest of the world in anticipation of the crash. I do know I cannot stop the train nor predict where it is headed. I can, however, bring my focus back to where I am standing. I can mindfully take my next step according to the direction I feel best supports the future I have in mind in my life. And, so can you.
Care for your own wounded foot. In the words of Lynda Hill from her numerous write ups on this and other Sabian Symbols, “Remember, worry is like praying for the things you DON'T want.” That, my friends, is a very true statement. Ditch worry. Do what needs to be done to help fix whatever needs to be fixed right in front of you. Redirect “worry” to “effective solution seeking.” Then, lean more toward your own sense of inner truth for direction rather than relying on someone else to spoon feed you their version. At the very least, these are certainly interesting times. On a personal level. On a Global level. On an Astrological level.

The Moon remains active through the Mars/Chiron conjunction. From here, she is waxing into a rather grounded trine with our Sun at the final degrees of Capricorn which perfects at 1:11 AM. Get your feet underneath you. Take care of your business.
Following this Earth trine the Moon is Void until entering Libra at 6:17 AM tomorrow morning.

Tuesday, January 17, 2017

This morning we wake up to the Moon freshly in Libra. By 1:38 PM she is debating with Mercury in Capricorn who remains in his retrograde shadow, though direct. This veritable confrontation whether it is internalized or externalized shapes the mood of the day. As the Moon moves forward she will encounter more friction. Friction between Cardinal signs often indicates a grappling of control either internally or externally. Sometimes both.

Perhaps someone in a position of authority says something that doesn't sit well with us for one reason or another under the Moon/Mercury square. Perhaps we take an authoritative stance within our relationships which produces an air of discomfort or unease. Either way, the Moon in Libra is prone to smile through it or try to bring accommodation or schmoozing to the debate table...because that is what Libra does.
Libra has a variety of tools in her tool chest that she can use here. Her most astute power, though, is in the ability to view things from the position of the “other” instead of from a singular point of view. We can use this power in response to whatever this situation may bring up. Try to see things from the “others” perspective in an effort to get a view of the situation in its entirety. Veer away from Libra's shadow tendency of being overly accommodating just in an effort to please. Be the fair judge.
Balance and clear logic along with an awareness of timing (sometimes viewed as procrastination) are also key Libran talents.

Overnight, our Libra Moon will meet both Neptune and Libra by inconjunct as Mars parallels this interaction with his own inconjunct to Jupiter. This, surge (wave) of Venus and Neptune carries us all the way into tomorrow afternoon. This indicates a call toward the higher functioning of both energies. Love. Peace. Par for the course. as we enter tomorrow's Cardinal squares that are brought to outlet by way of Vesta in Cancer. The most effective answer to any troubles we may encounter over the next few days are going to be associated with what is considered Divine Feminine energy which means love and care more while warring and killing less. Basically. Oh yeah, no one is saying that choosing those options are going to be easy. That choice remains up to you.

This morning we wake in the middle of that Venus/Neptune wave I mentioned yesterday while still under an active Libra Moon. Her next stop is a square to Pluto at 4:24 PM. The plot definitely thickens and conflict over control again rises as an issue.
This veritable undertow continues until it finds release by way of a lunar opposition to Uranus in Aries once again starting that latter degree domino effect that pulls all kinds of energy together with our other players in the sky. The inconjunct to Chiron comes just after midnight. The conjunction to Jupiter at 2:28 AM followed by an inconjunct with Mars at 3:55 AM. Finally, the Moon stabilizes a bit with a sextile to Saturn at 3:56 AM tomorrow morning just as Mars also hits a block wall with a square to the same at 4:16 AM.

It would seem we kind of float innocuously into this day only to have our raft swept up in a severe current and dropped into the middle of a storm. Then, things just start happening and unfurling really quickly. By daybreak, we've been slammed (raft and all) face down on the beach. What can you do but hold on and pray in a situation like that? So, yeah. Do that.

Thursday, January 19, 2017

After the swirling happenings of yesterday, we all wake up metaphorically pancake flat on the beach this morning. Thankfully, the Moon is Void giving us a bit time to recuperate. The square from Mars to Saturn is still locked within orb. Mobility may be restricted. Firm boundary and slow, deliberate movements are indicated. In other words, step small; but, leave solid footprint. Take care of the necessities.

At 4:24 PM the sun shifts from Capricorn into Aquarius. Less than an hour later, the Moon reactivates in Scorpio creating our Last Quarter Moon at 5:15 PM.
The answer is release. Always under a Last Quarter. Under a Scorpio Moon, what is released is severed permanently. Under an Aquarius Sun, the cut was precise. There is excellent opportunity here to severe ties with negative attachment or malefic personal habits. No matter how you look at it, though, release and clearing space are highly indicated.

Friday, January 20, 2017

This morning begins under the Moon in Scorpio sextile to Mercury in Capricorn at 6:16 AM. Folks may be talking quietly; but, they are talking. Meanwhile, Venus in Pisces is empowered by way of a sextile to Pluto in Capricorn at 8:53 AM. This is very rich. Turning up Venus power in this way is a beneficial thing. Venus is lovely in Pisces. She honors all the higher principles of love, peace and pleasure. In sextile to Pluto in Capricorn and these principles are given fortitude, Earthly manifestation and integrity. Of course, like any other type of energy, there is a low end, too. It comes through by way of manipulation of power, greed, exhausting resources, denial, death by addiction....all that. I'll take the high end, please. Essentially, what we have at this point is a hobbled Mars (from recent past); but, an empowered Venus. Interesting, no?

We also have now gaining in prominence within this day an astute mixture of both Pluto (power, rebirth, regeneration) and Neptune (compassion, empathy, dreams). Powerfully subtle. If that is a possibility. The Pluto ruled Moon finds Neptune by trine at 1:51 PM bringing a deep swirl to the emotional body. There isn't much action happening on the outside. But, there is a whole heck of a lot going on inside of us. It's all colored with personal nuance while also littered with speckles of happenings across the whole of the sea. All of which can, indeed, be quelled by the power of Venus. Love. Peace. Compassion. Caring. Empathy. Are you tired of me beating this drum yet? If so, I'll give you my best Libran answer, “Don't look at me, man. I just work here. There could be worse options.”
Drift. Dream. Feel the feels. Love someone. That's not so bad or hard, is it?

Saturday, January 21, 2017

The Scorpio Moon maintained amicable connection to our skies overnight. She danced with her ruler, Pluto, by sextile before daybreak (4:45 AM). Her next stop is a gentle but loving trine with Venus in Pisces at 6:25 AM. It's water colored but sturdy day.
By lunchtime, our deeply introspective Moon is trine Chiron in Pisces and on her way to another trine with Mars in Pisces at 8:26 PM. Flow. Release control. Relax. Let go. Absolve.
Following the trine with Mars, the Moon reaches Void status. The rest of the night is severely quiet as the internal waters continue to churn. The Moon remains Void until waking back up in Sagittarius tomorrow morning at 5:46 AM tomorrow.

but THAT is changing as I type this..

This is a great day for very leisurely and relaxing activities. Art and music are greatly highlighted as well as deepening and solidifying existing loving relationships. Since we are dealing with an extraordinary swirl of Pluto and Neptune energy, there is definitely a chance for emotions to be high. Folks will likely be very sensitive. Leaning into self-care efforts in response to this potential is just good practice. Saging, energetic clearances, meditation, dancing, praying all these things are punctuated in high significance all week. Today is no different. Keep at it.
Spending time around water helps. Staying well hydrated helps. Resting when you need to rest helps. When faced with a decision in regard to what to do next, you'll discover that as long as it's done in really doesn't matter what you do.

Sunday, January 22, 2017

This morning the Moon is active in Sagittarius and in sextile to the Sun in Aquarius at 11:31 AM. This is a much lighter feel than our water colored days under the Scorpio Moon. Catch your breath. Allow a little optimism to seep through. Be purposefully optimistic.
This feel carries us through the rest of the day with no other major aspect coming from the Moon until 2:38 AM by way of a square to Neptune. Things get continually squishy overnight and into our Monday. But, for most of the day, things go rather smoothly. Monopolize upon that.
