Morning Star: Astrology for the week of August 29 to September 4, 2016

Monday, August 29, 2019

This week the ecliptic “feel” is particularly accentuated. This is partially due the actual eclipse. But, also due to quite a bit of shifts in the sky that begin before the eclipse occurs. Some of that shifting is held within today.

Early this morning the Moon is in Cancer. She is just leaving an early morning sextile with Mercury (2:23 AM) and Venus (2:24 AM). While still within orb of that sextile, Venus catches up to Mercury via conjunction and passes him at 2:33 AM. This occurs at 29 Virgo. Following which, the Moon is Void until entering Leo at 4:12 AM.
Mercury meets Venus at the exit door of his home sign. She is ready to go home. So, she does with a grand entrance into Libra at 10:07 PM. Mercury is going to stick around at his house for awhile. Review some stuff. Clean a few more cobwebs. Maybe relax with a book or two. He turns retrograde tomorrow and meets Jupiter by conjunction a second time on Friday (following the eclipse).
The Sabian for the Mercury/Venus conjunction reads as follows: An emergency call frees householder from routine duty. Joy of enlisting in a task which broadens the life-horizon. Willing rising to the occasion or escape from narrow destiny.

This tells me the conjunction is likely to bring a bit of the unexpected which subsequently fosters a break in routine. Again, this occurs early EARLY in the morning. The “unexpected” could rattle us out of bed or be found in the evening hours of yesterday as this energy waxes in. Now, we need to remember this is Venus and Mercury on this Sabian. Not Pluto or Uranus or some other typically explosive combination. It is the Sabian that carries the critical mass. Not so much the planets involved. What I see here is an upset in routine. Mercury is in station after all. Expect that Mercury ruled things will be acting up (phones, cars, machinery, your brain, communication...or miscommunication, rather). The Sabian slates an “emergency call” which denotes a situation that is unexpected and requires your immediate response. Meaning, it becomes an immediate priority. It could very well denote something like the onset of labor. That's an emergent call, right? But, is it a horrific emergency? No. “Willing rising to the occasion or escape from narrow destiny” denotes the typical adrenaline induced fight or flight response regardless of what circumstances catalyze that response. So whether the call is “Hey! Your house is on fire!” or “Hey, you just won a lottery and you have an hour to claim it or you lose it” routine is broken. The way you expect the day to go is disrupted. That doesn't necessary denote that your expectations are dashed or your routine is shattered for horrific reason. It just means you will be inclined to respond in some way and doing the nightly dishes (or other mundane chores) in light of what goes down is just not that big of a deal anymore. The Mercury/Venus conjunction also trines Hecate. So these quick decisions we may be called to make are final...a quick...likely unrealized in the moment passage through the crossroads.

This, my friends, is only one call of the unexpected. With two eclipses coming our way, there is likely to be more. Not all will be as gentle as this one. Suffice to say, we have a very mutable sky right now. So, flexibility will be key. Literal muscle stretching exercises (including Yoga) help to meet this mutable demand as does mediation which creates a solid mental/emotional base from which to operate. When/if the world is in chaos or flux, retreat to your self-created center of peace. Your eye of the storm. Like a cosmic wave surfer, find your Zen surfboard and keep your knees bendable and maintain a sense of balance that exudes from within.
After Venus enters Libra tonight, the Moon meets both Saturn (10:21 PM) and Mars (3:51 AM) by trine. There is assurance of your identity on a personal level. A strong sense of accountability and duty. A call to be mindful of the “long haul,” the goals that have a higher purpose, the road that is long but worthy. A sense of personal truth that lights like a beacon guiding us forward. Stability...even if only for a fleeting moment under a short-lived lunar aspect.

Tuesday, August 30, 2016

We wake up to the Moon still in Leo. She passes through minor aspect with Pluto (inconjunct at 7:41 AM) and Mercury (5:48 AM) and Venus by semisquare (45 degrees). This creates personal nuance as we stir ourselves awake. The big news? Mercury officially stations retrograde at 29 Virgo at 8:58 AM. The retrograde will usher in the death of summer. However, it is at his station points that Mercury causes the most trouble. So, for today, and potentially the next few, expect gadgetry to act a little wonky. Allot more time for tasks than usual just to err on the side of caution. Seek clarity in your conversations as there is a higher probability of being misunderstood or not receiving the message someone is trying to send accurately or in a timely manner. Again, this is more punctuated at the station points. Then, as the retrograde progresses, there is time to slow down a bit. Reflect. Introspect. Review both the timeline and story of your life. Conversations had as Mercury traced his shadow (within the last few weeks) are likely to be revisited. Decisions made in recent past may also be tweaked. Renounced. Our minds are prone to change about a few things.

Our last retrograde of Mercury occurred in the sign of Taurus. It called us to inspect our values. Challenged us to not over complicate things. This one calls us to practicality. Finding solutions instead of seeking blame. Rethinking matters of service, healthcare, priority and our task list. Perhaps backing up to pick up a stitch or two. And, readying ourselves like squirrels stashing acorns for the winter that is soon to come. There is a slow down in time that will allow us to make these preparations whether it is putting up the harvest for winter storage, cleaning gutters and windows or sweeping out the heat of summer and opening the windows for the freshness of fall to waft in. Time for clearing the annuals out of our flower beds and spreading fresh mulch. Chrysanthemums will bloom...soon enough to be followed by the glory of the leaves turning. We'll begin to see hints of this. A few dried scattered leaves on the lawn. A few branches that fume in early glory. We have about six weeks before we will see peak color, though, this retrograde will surely entice our anticipation of it. Venus in Libra loves Autumn. So, yeah, you'll hear of things like pumpkin spice and cinnamon and yearn for the crispness in the air that comes with the changing of the seasons. Fall décor will emerge. And, Autumn will come. All in due time. Later in September as it does every year in the Northern Hemisphere.

As a matter of fact, Mercury stations direct on the very first day of Autumn (September 22) in trine to Pluto Rx and sextile to Lilith in Scorpio...barely...and I do mean just barely short of entering the mutable t-square created by Saturn, our Gemini Moon that day, Neptune...and the nodes. All occurring between 10 (Saturn, Neptune, Moon) and 14 degrees (Mercury/Pluto). The nodal axis wobbles around 12 degrees marking the midpoint of it all. The eclipses will be over by then. And, as Mercury turns direct and retraces his shadow on his way to Libra (entering on October 8), we will have time to figure out “What the heck just happened?” But, what happens occurs under this retrograde. All of it.
For the most part, it is the station of Mercury that gets the most press today. The Moon does have a final flair of activity later into the night with an inconjunct to Chiron at 11:26 PM and a trine to Uranus just after midnight. Following the trine with Uranus, she is void until entering Virgo at 11:23 AM tomorrow. The atmosphere is due to get very, very quiet as the Moon lingers in Void status. It's as if the Universal body is saying “Shhh...be awake but tread softly. The gateway is opening soon” portending our incoming eclipse on the first day of September. This is not the time to be making a lot of noise. It is the time to be very still and very observant...listening more than you speak and sheltering yourself from the senseless chatter of the outside world while tuning in your inner voice instead. Creating sanctuary so you can hear it, as well.

Wednesday, August 31, 2016

This morning, the Moon demurely slips into Virgo around noon. She has no major aspect throughout the meat of the day. Mercurian matters that go sideways are still a possibility. Some may leave emotional impact under a Mercury ruled Moon (frustration, etc). But, other than that, the day clicks by quietly.

The Moon is very, very dark leaving us room to flush out the previous Moon cycle in preparation for the new one that begins early tomorrow.

Thursday, September 1, 2016

The first thing we are greeted by this morning is a New Moon Eclipse in Virgo at 5:04 AM. This occurs at 9 Virgo 07 pitting the New Moon within orb of a mutable t-square between Saturn in Sagittarius (Moon @ 6:26 AM/Sun @ 11:23 PM) and Neptune in Pisces (Moon at 7:34 AM/Sun @ 12:38 PM (9/2). The outlet for this t-square falls in Gemini pointing to our newly retrograde Mercury in Virgo who is headed for his second conjunction with Jupiter tomorrow. Meaning to balance this out, we may need to rethink our plan, routine or re-arrange our schedule. Yes, we are within a period where we should anticipate the unexpected.

The main problem that I see with eclipses is that on the whole the energy is unsettled. It's not like they are this hugely rare event. We encounter them twice a year. Right now they are falling in the Spring and Autumn. But, the cycle has always ran in the background whether we are paying attention or not. Much of the time, an eclipse goes by unnoticed until there is direct impact made to a native's chart by the lunation itself or while impact from heavier transits are occurring to the rest of the chart. Yet, whether is a specific “event” that frames the eclipse for you, it is likely that the feeling of being unsettled will permeate in some way whether through anxiety, a feeling of floating, transitioning or just dealing with circumstantial fall out.

The eclipse falls on the following Sabian: SUN/MOON AT 10 VIRGO: A man with two heads is seen looking out to the beyond. Consciousness functioning in inner and outer realms. Competence in understanding. Over-sensitiveness to life currents.

MERCURY (RX) AT 28 VIRGO: Bald-headed man dominates gathering of national figures. Driving power of real personality in moments of crisis. Capacity for hard work. Compelling manifestation of inner self.

I find it interesting that both the Sabian for the New Moon and the Sabian for the planetary ruler (Mercury) both speak of heads. The New Moon Sabian mentions a man with two heads. The Mercury Sabian, a man with a bald head. The New Moon Sabian suggests a dual opinion or outlook that attempts to blend what is within with that which is without. Inner and outer realms. The bald man address authority and representatives from various cultures. Perhaps in a leading way. Perhaps in a plea to join factions together. That much is not given to us. All we know is that bald man will will sincerely need to project himself strongly and accurately in an effort to communicate effectively with the varied audience he has before him. After all, he is NOT just communicating with this group. He is dominating them. This denotes a great deal of power and influence. It doesn't say how that power and influence are used.

So, here, we have a door swinging open. Or given the aspects, it could be more of a wormhole or sinkhole opening. We may question whether this is a mirage or an illusion due the proximity of Saturn and Neptune compounded by the uncertainty and confusion of Mercury newly retrograde. Circumstances shift. New information is received. Opportunities present that we were not anticipating and that changes everything causing us to go back to the drawing board and really think about how to realign the details (which is an action that will be supported under Mercury conjunct Jupiter). One metaphoric way of looking at it, you are on your way to work and the road you normally take is unexpectedly blocked because a sinkhole has opened in the pavement. You have to choose an alternate route. Yes, yes, many will be redirected. And in that redirection we still have choices. Are we choosing to continue to travel to work? Or does the detour inspire us to completely change our destination? Is this going to make us late? Or, have we left ourselves enough time to accommodate the unexpected? How is this shift in direction going to affect the rest of our journey? And, the possibilities continue as if we were living in piece of literature that offers a myriad of alternative endings. Within that, we each maintain the power of our own choices and are free to bear the consequences of those.

Now. That is not to say that all this occurs as the New Moon perfects or that it occurs this morning. New Moon energy comes on like a fume, fog or shadow that slowly drifts across the world affecting those that it touches over an extended period of time. The eclipse event may indeed be punctuated. But, the opportunity for it to occur both precedes and extends beyond the actual event. What I'm saying is don't set your watch for 5:04 AM and wait for your opportunity to pop out in front of you. It doesn't work like that.
There are a few things that I feel are vital to look for and to remember in the weeks to come. First, be aware that not everything is as it appears. Saturn and Neptune are great at skewing things and Mercury retrograde can make for communication hiccups. Next, remember there is duality in everything we do. A higher and lower pole to the expression of energy. A personal outlook on any topic in comparison to the perspective of someone else. Inside face and outside face. As above so below. Everywhere there is duality. Sometimes it is antagonistic; sometimes complimentary. Either way, it exists. Next, bear in mind that (as the second Sabian states) it is in moments of crisis that our true selves have a tendency to burst forth. We fight or fly. We crumble or respond to the call to action. There isn't time to think about what you want to be. Who you are just kind of takes over making this a good time to be self-observant..you know...AFTER you deal with the actual emergency if that is the case. It's also a good time to be observant of others because you will catch a glimpse of their raw nature within those moments of crisis as well. Notice I didn't say judge. Just observe and/or take note.

So, there is a high probability of the New Moon packing uncertainty. We are not certain of truth or priority. Then, the Moon moves on to square Mars at 2:40 PM bringing a sense of ambiguity as well. Either we aren't sure what we should do in response or we are not really a fan of any of the options.
However, by 4:00 PM the Moon waxes into inspirational trine with Uranus in Aries and backing us in achieving emotional clarity and allowing us to address the situation a little more inventively and perhaps a little less swamped out. Perhaps.
The Sun is now inching more and more closely to perfecting in his square to Saturn in Sagittarius. This happens at 11:23 PM tonight. There is responsibility and accountability laid upon our shoulders. We are starkly reminded of the potential consequences that follow our actions. We may feel as if we are being held back or held down...oppressed. But, what this calls for is forbearance and integrity...not to mention follow-through. Follow-through is very important these days. As is striving to do the right thing. The right thing may not be the easy thing or the most desired thing. Yet, that narrows down any ambiguity you may have had earlier in the day. Do I do this, this or this? All you have to do is aim to do the next right thing. Doesn't mean you have to like it. There is also a call for patience and an ability to allow thing to happen all in its own time. You don't want to pick unripe cherries or can rotten tomatoes, do you? No. The harvest is dependent upon the fruit's readiness, not necessarily your own.

Friday, September 2, 2016

This morning the Moon in Virgo is opposed Chiron in Pisces. We may feel a little weak and/or triggered. This is compounded by the fact that the Sun is now also waxing into opposition with Neptune (12:38 PM). Fatigue. Uncertainty. Who am I? Who are you? Confusion and a high tendency for folks to be distracted, subdued or simply washed out tired, emotional and sensitive. Weepy. Sneaky. Profuse.

Thankfully, Mercury waxing toward Jupiter due to perfect in his second conjunction here at 1:18 PM may bring information to practical ground. Helping us to re-align priorities and bring order to the personal chaos. Or, it could have us (as the lower expression of Jupiter in Virgo has a tendency to do) placing blame on everyone else for our problems. Which is something that personally has a tendency to piss me off. LOL! But, seriously, it does absolutely not good to point fingers of blame after the fact. What matters the most is figuring out the fix and that is the highest expression of this conjunction. Work to put the pieces back together using your emotional body to guide you since the Moon enters this conjunction, as well, between 6 and 6:30 PM. Be concise not cutting. Seek solution not blame. Fix what is broken instead of lamenting. Roll up your sleeves and get down to business. It's still a very DIY sky.
Following the Moon's conjunct with Jupiter, she is Void until entering Libra at 8:57 AM tomorrow.

Saturday, September 3, 2016

Today feels better. We wake up to the Libra Moon conjunct Venus in Libra at 7:31 AM. There is a sense of decorum and politeness. The air wafts in like a fresh breeze.

By 4:57 PM the Moon is sextile Saturn in Sagittarius allowing us to get our feet back underneath us. It's a nice sense of grounding that follows a whole lot of uncertainty. Yet, with a subsequent inconjunct from the Moon to Neptune shortly following...there is still some haze and fog lingering.
Overnight, the Moon squares off with Pluto (2:41 AM) and there could be some subservient plots fostered under the veil of darkness or we may face off with strong temptations. Pay heed to what you are yearning for but don't forget to assess the why's behind that yearning and keep your efforts to achieve them above board. There will be those who plan to take advantage of others during their time of duress. Times of crisis and uncertainty swing the door wide open for opportunists for better or worse. Plan not to be snookered and be leery of what snakes slither out of the dark corners tonight. Be not led by promises of power or delusions of grandeur. Intuitive hits are strong but so is the possibility of paranoia.

Sunday, September 4, 2016

Many rise and shine early this morning. This is supported by an early morning sextile from the Moon in Libra to Mars in Sagittarius at 4:15 AM which is shortly followed by the Libra Moon in opposition to Uranus at 8:32 AM. Yeah. Try to sleep through that. I dare you.
Oh, I'm being largely facetious. But, in fact, dares and adventure seeking could be at thing that entices us from our beds this morning. Or there could be something that literally bolts us from sleep...again, be ready for the unexpected.

Know that Moon/Uranus can be anxiety riddled or it can also pack adrenaline and “get up and go.” It is all dependent upon how you are able to wrangle the energy. Either way, the emotional body feels as if there needs to be a bit of justice in regard to some of this brash and hedonistic rebellion coming from Uranus in Aries. I assure you that placement has NO manners and that does not sit well with our Libra Moon. There is a chance for standoff here. To better balance the equation, seek a sense of personal freedom and move independently. Do not mirror what you may perceive as ugliness in the world. Choose to respond instead of just react.
Following the opposition with Uranus, the Moon is blessedly Void...giving the emotional body a chance to rectify the entirety of the week and settle a bit...until entering Scorpio at 8:40 AM on Monday.

Morning Star: Astrology for the week of August 22 to August 28, 2016

Monday, August 22, 2016

This morning we wake up to the Moon in Aries making her way to an early morning conjunction with Uranus (7:48 AM) following a conjunction with Mercury in Virgo to Jupiter (5:05 AM). My first thought in regard to this was, “Oh, that looks combustible.” And, yes, it does. But, it can also provide for optimism as we wake followed by a willingness to try something new or break with routine. Or it could be that the morning routine doesn't go as planned...which the latter mentality can help to ease. Good humor is called for. Humility and an ability to laugh at yourself. Take more time to get where you are going than usual to accommodate for the potential of the unexpected. Following the conjunction with Uranus, the Moon is void until entering Taurus at 5:20 PM. By the way, Mercury/Jupiter and Moon/Uranus is also good energy for seeing an eye specialist...which is what I'll be doing today. It's also good for discussing details and looking for brighter ways to enter our future through collaborative and cooperative efforts. Social welfare activities are highlighted as well as a round table discussion of expert opinions.

By noon, the Sun has found his way into Virgo calling a halt, officially, to Leo season. We are now transitioning toward the harvest. The dog days of summer are ending. Labor Day, the last official holiday of Summer in the U.S., is right around the corner. Signs of autumn will soon begin to present. Aside from the changing seasons, collectively we are also in a transitional period as we are now officially in eclipse season. Many will be able to pinpoint distinct changes in their lives between now and the Autumn Equinox at the end of September.

At 5:40 PM the Sun newly in Virgo and the Moon newly in Taurus dance in a lovely grounded Earth trine. This is wonderfully grounding and allows us to chunk out the rest of the day easily and comfortably. This is followed by a slew of minor aspects that color in the subtleties of our evening hours. The Sun sesquisquare Pluto (personal depth), Mars sesquisquare Uranus (a bit of restlessness), Moon sesquisquare Venus (yearning/hunger), Moon inconjunct Mars and Saturn (a hesitation or resistance or blockage)...a chain reaction of nuance that carries us all the way into tomorrow morning. According to Linda Goodman, a sesquisquare “often represents behaviors that are often stimulated by subconscious longings.” So, in the settled feeling of this afternoon, there is much stirring internally. Typically, minor aspects such as these go by largely unnoticed. However, with so many occurring in such a close time frame, you may feel these nuances stirring in your gut and/or permeating the energy of your evening and morning. Explore them.

Tuesday, August 23, 2016

This morning, the Taurus Moon finishes the minor aspects she began yesterday. Following the tandem inconjuncts to Mars and Saturn (who perfect in conjunction tomorrow), she melts with Neptune via sextile (11:32 AM). This has a relaxed and leisurely feel to it. Steady but comfortable. Some may feel inclined toward an early evening nap. And, if you can manage that, why not?

By 6:44 PM, the Moon is in a rich trine to Pluto in Capricorn. Cravings run deep. Yearnings are strong. It would be a good night for a decadent dessert after a hearty meal.
The Mars/Saturn conjunction finds us early in the morning. Tonight, however, we will likely feel this energy waxing in strongly. Physical energy may feel heavy and encumbered. People carry big burdens and responsibilities on their shoulders. And, to be quite frank, Mars/Saturn is fucking harsh, man. It's one of my least favorite transits ever. The secret to it though is to navigate step by step with personal accountability and responsibility in mind. We are leaving deeply embedded footprints behind us. We will want to place them on purpose and be responsible for our actions moving forward. Acting erratically and irresponsibly is going to get us called on the carpet by someone. Happening in Sagittarius, you could very well end up in court to hear the official judgment. So, whatever you do, do it with consequence in mind. You can build good consequence for yourself or get called out for the irresponsible stuff you do. It's really up to you. It's going to feel like you are wading through mud either way. Pace yourself and aim true.

Wednesday, August 24, 2016

As I mentioned yesterday, the Mars/Saturn conjunction perfects early this morning (7:27 AM). Nothing like waking up with a couple of blocks of concrete on your shoulders to carry around all day. For real, the morning feels heavy and the path ahead seems very long and arduous. Ride it out. This doesn't last forever. But, remain in a sense of accountability of your actions in an effort to weather this leg of the trip out. Be mindful of your obligations. Expect most folks to be grumpy and a little dour today.
Shortly after the Mars/Saturn conjunction, though, the Moon trines Venus in Virgo...which is pretty nice. This allows us to assess the details of our plans and perhaps even clear away a few blocks. Weeding and pruning the weeds on the path ahead of us. Reaping a bit of reward for efforts expended thus far and giving us this wonderful sense of grounding. There is also an ability to foster an appreciation for the simple everyday blessings and a sense of gratitude. This eases the harshness of Mars/Saturn just a bit. But, we must remember, like Jupiter, Venus doesn't operate in Virgo like she typically does. Venus in Virgo is very practical and not overly adorned. She likes clean, simple and useful. So, this aspect could be what prompts us to buy the supplies or tools we need to finish our jobs. Or, it may just help us relax into the mundane feeling of routine. Sometimes routine is nice to fall into, you know? When things just chunk along as you planned them too? Yeah, that can be nice.

By 9:22 AM, the Moon is softened and poked a little by a sextile to Chiron. Then, in our early evening, she finds Mercury (2:06 PM) then Jupiter (3:38 PM) both by trine. Venus led us into routine and helped us latch on to the mundane tasks ahead of us. These subsequent Earth trines help us to plan the rest of our way out of the forest. We are pleased with the small bits of progress we've made throughout the day. Even if our steps seemed small and encumbered, they left solid progress behind us. It was a tough job. But, you did it. Now, schedule and plan out the rest of them. You got this.
Following the trine with Mercury, the Moon is Void until entering Gemini at 7:40 PM. Latch on to the grounded feeling of this afternoon and hold on tight. You are going to need it to revert back to in the days that come.

By 10:12 PM, Venus is in opposition to Chiron in Pisces. Ouch. There is a hollow ache there. Possibly a trigger tripped. An uncertainty, perhaps...self-doubt or criticism, even. Instead of picking yourself apart find the root of your insecurity and care for that wound. Then, as our Last Quarter Moon perfects just before midnight, let it go. Release the grip on your fears and insecurities. Rest your weary and potentially overworked brain. Let go...let go...let go..

Thursday, August 25, 2016

The atmosphere is markedly changed from the beginning of the week. Moon in Taurus can be grumpy and stubborn, yes. But, at least it's fairly emotionally settled. However, our Moon in Gemini is unpredictable due her incoming interaction with all the other mutable planets. Today will call for focus and flexibility.

At 12:30 PM the Moon is held accountable under an opposition to Saturn that is quickly also followed by an ambiguous opposition to Mars (1:35 PM). Keep your target in your sites and hold steady. Remember where true North is and stay diligent, responsible and steady on your path.
By 2:06 PM, the Moon squares Neptune and you are really going to need that compass because the path ahead of you fills with rain and fog. Slow down and move steady. Expect that emotional waters may rise. Folks are sensitive and you are more susceptible to the mood of your environment. Boundary up. Stay hydrated. Don't drive further than your headlights can illuminate. Again. Slow down.
Mars (as well as Saturn) is waxing into this same square as Neptune. So keeping your sense of direction might be difficult. However, you can always revert back to the plan you drafted under Mercury/Jupiter to remind you of your next step. Or, shelter yourself on the roadside until the storm passes. The tiring and ambiguous square between Mars and Neptune that threatens to wash away the road ahead of us through mudslide or flash flood perfects at 2:57 AM. This is also an aspect that can bring restless sleep or even nightmares. Be easy with yourself here and remain flexible.

Friday, August 26, 2016

This morning, the slush and uncertainty of Mars square Neptune burns off slowly. We are pretty sluggish and may feel a bit like we are wading through mud this morning. However, a midday sextile to Uranus from the Moon helps to free us up a little. Tenacity and taking things slowly pays off. At least emotionally we are likely to feel a bit better. We can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Gods and Goddesses, help me. I hope it's not a train.

At 4:12 PM, the Moon in Gemini squares off with Venus in Virgo. We are dissatisfied with ourselves to a degree. Not pleased with the progress we've made thus far. Thinking we should be further ahead on this road than we are. Easy now. You are lucky to still be on your path if that's where you found yourself. Many are standing around in mud or got completely washed away. Instead of picking yourself apart, note the things...no matter how small...that you did right. Then, start clearing away debris or fixing your tools so you can start hacking away again.

The tension between the Mercury ruled signs of Virgo and Gemini continues as our night moves forward. The answer? Sort it out. Start whittling down your enormous task list by process of elimination. Is it really important that I do this? Can this task be streamlined? Can I ask for help with this chore? Prioritize putting things in order of importance and crossing off the time wasters. Cut out distraction and needless detail in an effort to regain focus and direction as the Moon squares off with Jupiter at 6:10 PM and Mercury at 8:31 PM. And, keep that task list and your timeline flexible. Again, this is eclipse season. The unexpected is going to happen and your schedule needs to be bendable enough to accommodate that. And, in times of flux, it pays to keep reminding yourself of your direction, goals and priorities. Keep your compass calibrated. With Mercury in shadow, too, we may have to re-write our agenda more than once. It's alright. There are alternative routes and potentially some doorways that open on those detours that push us right through the portal we need to fall into.
Following the square with Mercury, the Moon is Void until entering Cancer at 11:07 PM.

Saturday, August 27, 2016

This morning feels better than the last few days. The Moon in Cancer meets the Sun in Virgo by supportive sextile at 7:08 AM. This is a nice mixture of Earth and Water. Moon in Cancer knows what it needs and the Sun in Virgo is ready to go fetch it. Virgo and Cancer energy work wonderfully well together. Virgo reaps the harvest and Cancer turns it into a table set for a Queen.

The relaxed and easy feel permeates into our evening as the Moon in Cancer relaxes with Neptune in Pisces by trine at around 6 PM. Then, we are ready to lean into practical creature comforts as Venus finds Jupiter by conjunction at 6:29 PM. Yes, children, it's time to relax and treat yourself. Float. Indulge. Can't you make some cobbler out of the late summer berries you picked earlier in the day? Sure you can. Delight in simple pleasures and give yourself permission to relax.
Overnight the Moon opposes Pluto in Capricorn (1:39 AM). Yes, you can sneak into the fridge for a little late night snack. No one is watching. Go ahead. Don't be afraid.

Sunday, August 28, 2016

The morning is largely uneventful as the Moon moves away from her deep opposition with Pluto. Her next aspect doesn't come until 5:42 PM this evening. Here she meets with discomfort as she squares off with Uranus in Aries. This aspect at it's lowest produces anxiety and carries the potential for the unexpected. Remind yourself of your priorities. Detach from overly fearful or swamping emotions and handle whatever needs to be handled with a cool head and steady hand. Reduce the risk of anxiety by cutting down on stimulants and sugar early in the day. Stay well hydrated and eat solid not fluff.

Keeping your body well centered and steady certainly pays off as the Moon finds Jupiter by sextile (11:55 PM) and Venus by the same at 2:23 AM. Pull out your agenda and adjust as necessary. But, remind yourself of where you are going and why it is important. If priorities have changed, tweak your plans to accommodate. This is supported by a lunar sextile to Mercury at 2:24 AM. Following this sextile, the Moon is Void until entering Leo 4:12 AM tomorrow. But, not before Venus catches Mercury and passes him in Virgo at 2:33 AM. If the night sky is clear tonight, you should be able to see Mars, Venus, Mercury and Jupiter glimmering up there. If you squint or grab your binoculars, you may even have a chance to glimpse Saturn.
Over the next few days the sky shifts quite a bit. Venus slips into Libra tomorrow. Mercury turns Rx on the 30th. And on September 1, not only are we on the cusp of eclipse season, we are in it fully fledged. The last few days of this waning Leo Moon should be spent on flushing out the lunar cycle that is passing and getting ready to assess the unexpected doors that swing open as the eclipse perfects. Get your feet underneath you. Remember what it is you feel is important and remind yourself of where you want to go. Then, look for the wormhole that might...just might...magically drop you there. Realize, there may also be a few pitfalls that look like opportunity too. You are going to have to be on top of your game to be able to tell the difference. So, yeah. Say a little prayer and get ready for all that; because, ready or not! Here it comes!

Morning Star: Astrology for the week of August 15 to August 21, 2016

Monday, August 15, 2016

This morning, we wake up to the Moon in Capricorn conjunct Pluto Rx at 5:06 AM. You know what that sounds like to me? A serious dread and foreboding all wrapped in the package of a Monday. But, for real, this is a dark cloud that greets us. One that has serious business on it's heart and mind. There may be fears. There may be desire to control. There may be abuses of power because of fear.. The “powers that be” who adhere to subservient agendas will shift in their thrones this week. They should rightfully be afraid because consequence is going to find them. That fact makes me a little giddy, actually.

This is a very sober aspect. Dark. Not the wake up and shine that I prefer. More of a cautiously arise and check under the bed and in the closet because it feels like you are being watched paranoid kind of rising. At the very least, folks are inclined to be concerned with something serious and deep in their life. We are not concerned with light matters. These are concerns that lay heavily on our hearts. Consequences and outcomes that threaten to destroy or expose. Or, be hurtful or dreadful in some other way. Foreheads are furrowed. Eyes are narrowed. Not a twitch of a tree limb or flutter of an insect wing goes by without drawing our attention. Intuition is likely astute but is under threat of being colored with paranoia.

Be brave. Stare down your fears. Soul search for the root of those deep emotions and deeply embedded fears. Face them down. We've survived many a Monday. It's likely we will survive this one too. Be fierce; but, be responsible for the ways in which you use your powers.
By 3:01 PM, the Moon is in trine to Mercury in Virgo. Details are discussed. If it isn't truthful, factual or useful, it should be discarded. Attempts to manipulate the truth are easily seen. Mercury in Virgo can tell when you are lying and doesn't have time to waste on sussing out what would be the truth. He's just going to discard everything you say after the first lie is discovered. So, if you don't have knowledge to contribute to the conversation, or if you don't have something of use to say; then, don't waste your breath. This discussion is to serve a cause. It is also great energy to use to put together a long term or short term plan. Both Capricorn and Virgo are planners. Putting the common sense of both together can result in a sustainable delineation of the path forward. The calm cool rational head is going to benefit most from this Earth trine.

At 9:27 PM the Capricorn Moon stubs her toe on Chiron in Pisces by sextile right before finding Uranus harshly by square at 9:44 PM. This can be unsettling. Moon/Uranus is anxious and reactive. Chiron holds our triggers. So, there may be some late night upset to contend with in the way of hurt feelings or a bit of anxiety. Ground it out. Don't become too upset if routines are toppled. Improvise.
The pieces likely fall back together as the Moon trines grounded and practical Jupiter in Virgo at 10:47 PM. Following this trine, the Moon is Void until entering Aquarius in the morning at 7:54 AM.

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

This morning we wake up to a sparkling nearly full Aquarius Moon. To add emphasis to the “Aquarian” vibe, the Sun is also trine Uranus at 4:23 PM. Honestly, I love this set up. I also like the looks of our incoming Full Moon. You see, Mercury sits at the apex of a Yod between the Moon and Pallas in Aquarius and Uranus in Aries. Smart. Logical but also enveloped with common sense. Talk about a brainy mixture. The secret to using this energy is to work with the brilliance of Pallas. And, oh...my friends, she is brilliant. She is a strategist. A pattern seeker. A puzzle solver. Here, in sextile to Uranus, her wisdom is greatly punctuated. She seeks new and unusual solutions to long standing problems. She collaborates with others who seek viable solutions to wide reaching problems. She can gather all the pieces of the puzzle and help us put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Then, we have Mercury in Virgo who knows whether the high-minded solutions offered by Pallas and Uranus are viable in the real world. Are they practical? Are they applicable? Are they doable? In the end, we may just see that the solutions we are discovering are so crazy they just might work. The next few days offer opportunity to increase your expertise in any area you choose. It is also a good time for seeking expert advise or collaborating with others over common sense solutions. See, Aquarius/Uranus can over-complicate matters of the brain. But, Mercury in Virgo helps to bring this un-Earthly brilliance to ground and put to use in our everyday life. These are also days of discovery. They are also days in which we realize that opportunities have been created like the passage found from the Tower to the Star.

Even better than that, Venus in Virgo is in trine to Pluto in Capricorn (10:14 PM on 8/17). Venus has been through the wringer lately. First, she squared Saturn last Saturday. Then, on Sunday she was washed out by an opposition to Neptune. In the coming days, though, she blossoms and is renewed. Re-animated. Strengthened. Dark. Powerful and beautiful. What's interesting about Venus in Virgo in trine to Pluto in Capricorn (since this is also my Venus return and I've had a good bit of time to get used to this energy by transit) is that the more she shares, the more that returns to her. I have been taking grocery bags filled with vegetables from my garden to share with my workmates for several weeks now. I return home to find my garden overflowing with just as much as I have given away. So, I send more grocery bags filled with vegetables with my husband to work to share with his coworkers. We've shared with neighbors, friends, family. And, I'll be darned if the fruits of our labors don't just keep multiplying to a degree that I'm scrambling to keep up with putting away and storing what do plan to keep.

Oh. There is more. We are also working on a remodeling project. It is a large and, at times, overwhelming task. Sometimes, we get anxious thinking about all the resources we will need to finish the project. Yet, since Pluto has been in trine to my Venus, it has been shown to me over and over again that we will receive what we need to finish the project when it is needed. All we have to do is put love and intention into the labor and that love keeps being replenished to us by the Universe in ways that sometimes the only reaction I can muster is a “Oh my gosh, thank you!” as I shake my head in disbelief. Needless to say, I think most folks are going to enjoy this trine.

Overall, what we are being gifted with here is the perfect blend of masculine and feminine energy. An androgynous mixture of wonderfulness. Plus, we are also gifted with a very astute and strong power of attraction. You are going to want to be careful where you point that. We are seeking to manifest the truest desires of our heart not acquire a new stalker.
Aquarius and Uranian energy are rich for wishing. Venus in trine to Pluto in Earth signs manifests these wishes into tangible reality quickly. So. Be mindful of what you say and careful what you wish for because the chances of it coming to fruition are very likely. But, honey, if you are sure this is what you want then I suggest you go all out and shoot for the Moon. Chances like this don't come along very often. Be honest. Be optimistic and be future minded while remaining responsible for the consequences you might create and you really cannot go wrong here.

Start practicing now. I did an exercise in an online group some time ago where I had participants visualize a red balloon. We went from seeing it in our minds to imagining how it would feel to hold it, smell it, taste it. Every single person in the group found their red balloon after doing this exercise. Some tripped across pictures of one. I literally found mine on the way to work. One lady had a balloon floating outside her window. So, focus in on whatever it is your heart is yearning for and practice energetically pulling the thing toward you. I'm pretty excited about this.
Now, there is some trickery going on in regard to Mars during this week. At the Full Moon we find him in a mutable t-square with Venus and Neptune as he waxes into conjunction with Mars. This tells me to remind you not to over-reach and that obtaining your heart's desire does not come by way of force or repression of others. It also tells me that faith is called for as well as standing and walking tall upon the principles of your own truth. This is a “hold your rudder true” aspect. Patiently and diligently taking the steps you need to take with thought and intention. Violence will get you shut down. Abuses of power will get you called out. Be willing to share. Be willing to help. Be willing to work. Be willing to wait while holding on to your faith. Keep your eye on the prize and your bow pointed to true North. But, above all, be sure you are focusing on something positive...because it's coming. It's coming.

Oh yeah. Back to today. The Sun is trine Uranus and folks are inclined to act independently. Sun in Leo trine Uranus in Aries is forthright with the truth of their identity giving not one flip if that is widely acceptable or not. Many are tired of wearing the shackles of projection and having who they are to become dictated to them. We want to be free. We want liberation. We want to celebrate our individuality and surround ourselves with others who celebrate us as we are. We want to be in places that call for no facade. The angel in the Star is naked because she is fully self-accepting and unafraid to be unmasked. The bohemian vibe of this day blossoms beautifully, in my opinion. Dare to be different, unusual, quirky and ok with it. And, while you are at it, why not acknowledge and thank those that accept you as you are and don't try to cover up your you-ness. Know, though, the LAST thing you want to try to do is to boss folks around. No one is going to take kindly to that.
At 6:51 PM the Moon passes by Mars in Sagittarius by sextile. This is motivational and allows us to put emotional energy (get into) the work we have ahead of us. And, soon, elbow grease and tenacity will be called for as Mars is within orb officially now of a conjunction with Saturn in Sagittarius. As a matter of fact, the Moon meets her traditional ruler by sextile later tonight at 1:23 AM. Sober. Wise. Logical. We are called to diligently leave conscious footsteps behind us as we travel forward.

Wednesday, August 17, 2016

This morning, the Moon is still growing in Aquarius. She seems so Full she could nearly pop. But, we aren't quite there yet. The Full Moon perfects, officially, tomorrow morning at 5:28 PM. The big news is that Venus officially finds Pluto by trine at 10:14 PM. Emotions are high but our affect is cool and logical while desires are strong. Smoldering hot, sexy aloofness perfectly mixed with ice water in your veins...yeah...it's a lot like that.

At midnight, the Moon perfects at an inconjunct with Mercury in Virgo and meets Uranus by sextile at 2:52 AM. This completes the Full Moon Yod that I discussed earlier in the week. See? It even sounds magical to be out in the dark under the stars making wishes at midnight...or nearly 3 AM even! Go for it.

It is also a wonderful night for charging things up with wishing power. I'll be sitting my ingredients out for wishing powder under this Full Moon. But you definitely want to put your Uranus themed stones and tools out there too. These include lapis lazuli, turquoise, metal accessories like copper or silver, even your hammer of Thor amulet and etc. Of course, you can use a Full Moon to clean/charge any stone. But, you definitely want to pull these out so they can soak up the power of our Lightning God. You can also charge amulets that you want to use in power of attraction work due Venus/Pluto. This is also a great time to harvest/store magical herbs. With a Full Moon in Aquarius, might I suggest freezing them. Here is a link to an article that will show you how and why. But, yes, you can also harvest then subsequently dry or can...just don't waste. Recycle where you can and feed any organic leftovers or scraps back to the Earth. Also, don't forget to give thanks for the bounty the Earth is delivering and SHARE!

Thursday, August 18, 2016

Ah, this morning the energy cracks and pops. The Moon is at her most full at 5:28 AM. A sparkly start to our day that brings culmination, climax and a chance to let go of the old and be prepared to escort in the new. What comes to our Lunar sphere following this? Eclipses. Starting with a New Moon Eclipse in Virgo on September 1. New Moon eclipses are NOTORIOUS for swinging open unexpected doorways. So, even if you have no Earthly idea how it is you are going to get to where you want to go...put your intention out there. At a Full Moon, intentions should revolve around release. Sounds counterproductive in the way of manifestation, right? But, it isn't when you release blocks be they mental or physical. Are there thought patterns or mentalities that continually usurp you? Are there fears that keep you from achieving your definition of success? Is your environment cluttered making the energy/air stagnant? Open the windows and release it all. Clear out and make room for the new that coming.

The Full Moon falls upon the following sabians (and don't forget that Venus is still within orb of Pluto and we have that Mercury Yod still happening—refresh yourselves on the previous days write ups):

THE SUN AT 26 LEO: As light breaks through clouds, a perfect rainbow forms. Promise of conscious immortality after the death of useless things. Spiritual linkage through emotional stress. Blessing.

THE MOON AT 26 AQUARIUS: A garage man is seen ready to test the battery of a car. Capacity of self to take up and deliver spiritual power. Controlled release of power through the emotions. Measurement.

And, we should probably check in with Uranus too since this is “his” Moon and he is highly involved in it:
URANUS AT 25 ARIES: A double promise reveals its inner and outer meanings. Fortuitous cooperation between inner and outer elements of being. A sense of responsibility to self or to society.

Oh, I like the sound of ALL THAT! However, right after the Full Moon pops, she enters Void status until 12:35 PM when she enters Pisces. So, set your wishes/release intentions as the Moon is still waxing or wait until later tonight when the Moon is active again. Pisces Moons are excellent for making stuff disappear. Whether you really want them to disappear or not. We lose and misplace stuff. We can be easily distracted and also easily influenced by the energies of others. Whereas we are definitely not so prone to this under the Aquarius Moon and/or Sun/Uranus. Therefore, the timing of your wishes/intentions should depend on what it is you are trying to do.

At midnight the Pisces Moon squares off with Mars in Sagittarius. This can be a feeling of ambiguity or overwhelm. Yes. We have a long way to go yet. However, dreams are likely active and rich with symbolism...if you manage to make it to the dreamscape. Watch and note ethereal signage. Directional pointers and clues. Adjust and tweak plans if needed but don't let self-doubt stop you on your way to achieving your broader goals. Re-calibrate your compass.

Friday, August 19, 2016
This morning we wake up dreamy but also with a sense of purpose and boundary under a Pisces Moon in square to Saturn in Sagittarius (5:20 AM). This is another manifestation aspect but it's more difficult to wrangle than if it were coming from a trine like we had with Venus and Pluto. This is a reality call. This is shoring up your dreams so that they mesh within the reality of the world we live in. It also calls for us to be willing to the work we are called to do in order to manifest. It also calls for patience and an adherence to faith. But, it's going to largely come across as grumpy. Yet, creative clay is at our disposal and we will soon discover that achieving our desires is not best approached by force. But, through generosity, gentleness and a clear vision of the long-term...and giving a damn about the consequences you may or might not create along the way. And, if you are making promises, plan to keep them.

Now that Saturn is direct, he is beginning to wax back into square with Neptune. And, Mars is chasing them both. Mars officially meets Saturn by conjunction on August 24th...which is interesting because that's a date that I've heard popping up a lot lately and have been wondering why. Now we both know. Then, he squares Neptune on August 26th. Then, the Lord of tempo and time (Saturn) squares of with the God of the Sea, illusion and dreams on September 10th. HOWEVER, Saturn and Neptune are HUGE factors during our New Moon eclipse on September 1. Saturn squares the Nodes while Neptune lingers around the SN in Pisces. As the New Moon perfects, she opposes Neptune and squares Saturn. The Sun follows this path shortly after. Talk about mutable t-square madness. We will need to be flexible while being prepared for the unexpected during those days. Be ready to jump through those swinging open doors. By, the time Saturn and Neptune do perfect in square we will be under a totally different sky. Jupiter and Venus will have moved into Libra while Mercury will have flipped retrograde in Virgo. There may be stitches ripped out and re-sewn during that retrograde. It's alright. Who says you have to get it right the first time? The real alchemy is found in the continuation of the mixing and experiment.
We do get a quick taste of this energy today as the Moon moves away from her early morning square (reality check) with Saturn and almost immediately is immersed by Neptune after (7:22 AM). At around the same time (8:07 AM), Mercury in Virgo opposes Chiron in Pisces. Nurse your sick mind. Triage. Prioritize. Be practical and remain grounded. We are going to experience this twice more. Acknowledge those triggers. Don't deny them. Acknowledge your addictions and the pains you are trying so desperately to forget or escape. Find solutions instead. Foster more effective coping mechanisms. Quit metaphorically punching yourself in the face. One of the tasks on Saturn/Neptune's task list is to grab your attention about your addictions whether you are addicted to food, drugs, alcohol, denial, lying...whatever your “fix” you need to address it and realize all you are doing is masking symptoms of something much deeper. Don't mask the symptoms. Treat the illness.

This theme is continually brought forth throughout the day. The Moon sextiles Pluto at 2:33 PM instilling us with fortitude, responsibility and integrity...not to mention a sense of fearlessness. Mercury completes his inconjunct with Uranus at 2:55 PM opening the pathway for brilliance to wax in if we are willing to address our personal issues with practicality. Then, as the Moon opposes Venus at 6:25 PM we can nurture our disillusionment and that feeling of separation from what we want with just the right medicine. Venus in Virgo is the realistic nurse maid that Moon in Pisces needs. The secret is to balance the polarity blending dream with reality...gently bringing order to chaos...humbly serving the collective with our growing empathic nature without enabling, guilting or criticizing.

Saturday, August 20, 2016

The tug of war between Pisces and Virgo continues this morning. We begin with a severe check-in with our denial as the Moon meets Chiron by conjunction (5:23 AM) then subsequently opposes Mercury in Virgo (6:41 AM). Fact check. Be honest with yourself. That's the MOST important thing here. Then, as the Moon opposes Jupiter in Virgo (8:22 AM), don your Virgo Superhero cape and go out there and be the superhero you need. Your own best Florence Nightingale. Don't expect a real superhero to swoop in and save you. This is totally a DIY sky. So, quit victimizing yourself and become the saving force you need, instead. Or, you can just clean/organize something. There is always room for that on the Pisces/Virgo polarity. Plus, sorting out your physical world helps to bring order to your internal world. Sounds too simple, right? Well, with Jupiter, Venus and Mercury in Virgo, simplicity is best. Don't be afraid of the simple answers to your complex questions. This is also a good day to ditch bad or unhealthy habits, btw. No matter how you look at it though, the truth is going to emerge. And, for some, this is going to be disappointing.

Following the opposition with Jupiter, our Pisces Moon is Void until entering Aries at 3:19 PM. Might I suggest a nap during this time. The wake up call of the Aries Moon is coming and you are going to want to be well rested for that! Sunday morning we are traveling!

Sunday, August 21, 2016

WAKE UP! WAKE UP! IT'S TIME TO GO! This morning the Moon in Aries is in trine to both Mars (5:10 AM) and Saturn (7:44 AM) in Sagittarius. Simon says, “Take one purpose filled stepped forward and MEAN IT!” Progress made today has sticking power. There is traction to be had. Get moving! Now, I'm not telling you take off at full speed right into a brick wall. I'm telling you to be responsible and fill your movements with intention. Be aware of where you are going but definitely go! We are wise travelers not impulsive or foolish.

By 4:43 PM, the Moon sinks into a dark square with Pluto in Capricorn. Yeah. Some folks will revert to subservient methods to get where they are going. They feel as if they have to trample or abuse others to get to where they need to go. That's alright. SATURN WILL DEAL WITH THESE FOLKS. Soon. Keep your own nose clean and instead reach for the endurance and fortitude offered by this mixture. Dig deep and keep moving forward. Be led not into temptation or greed. If you can't get it on the “high road” you don't need it anyway because Karma will always find you. Totally not worth it. Not today, Satan. Not today.
Meanwhile, Mercury in Virgo is closing in on a conjunction to Jupiter in Virgo due to perfect on Monday morning. This coincides with a lunar conjunction to Uranus. Patient, diligent and still is the wise huntress...truth is coming. The timing is perfecting and your fruit is becoming ripe on the vine.

In an effort to get prepared for the beauty of all that energy, stare deeply into your fears and face them down. Again, be 100% self-honest. Fearless about your truth however you may find it. Accepting of what you find. Work with it, not against it. Keep your intuitive and instinctive radar up and be ready. Divine timing and grace are upon us. You are going to want to be ready to use that effectively. Thunder may rumble. Lightning may strike. Find the eye of the storm and bravely plant yourself there. We are headed for quite a wild ride. If that scares you, then you obviously have some self-work to do. Take a deep breath. Center. Allow yourself to believe you “got this” however “this” may manifest for you. We've been more than well prepared for this. Be at the ready to jump through your door of opportunity as it opens.
