Morning Star: Daily Astrology for February 1, 2015

Weird twists of fate. That's what I'm seeing lately. Sounds appropriate with Uranus and Pluto both applying to the nodal axis. Speaking of Uranus and Pluto, this morning we wake up to the Moon in Cancer bouncing off each of them. She meets Uranus by square at 3:52 AM and Pluto by opposition at 5:42 AM. Those aspects have some crunchy edges. Most of the rest of the day, though, is rather smooth.

At 7:36 AM the Moon meets Chiron by trine. Then, at 8:37 AM she is in trine with Mars. By, 12:36 PM, Venus is conjunct Neptune.

So the morning has a chance of being a little unsettled. But, by late morning our motivation and emotions are flowing together as our hearts melt a little.

You know what else I'm noticing (aside from weird twists of fate)? I see situations being set up that give us opportunity and tempt us to resort to childish behavior. Stomping of feet. Rolling of eyes. Temper tantrums. I'm not just talking about events that allow the inner child to come out to play. I'm talking about events that throw our inner child into a hissy fit. I'm attributing this to our waxing Moon who will eventually perfect to fullness in Leo. I got to be honest with you, I'm pretty tempted just to let my inner child throw her hissy fit at this point even if I know that may not be the smartest thing for my adult self to do in the long run. I've been coaching myself through it trying to aim, instead, for the more mature reactions. Lying on the floor kicking and screaming that “it's NOT FAIR!” is increasing in attractiveness though. Anybody else out there coming across things like this?

Last week some weird twists of fate unfurled in the lives of many people I interact with on a daily basis. As those twists unfurled, the person witnessing and being affected had an opportunity (and in most cases justified reason) to blow their top. A few did. Others struggled with re-directing their actions toward something more beneficial and worked to change their perspective about the situation.

Some of these twists of fate have put the “bad guy” in the position of victory. Or, at least, it seems so temporarily. You know what I mean? Do you have an enemy? I'm not talking about the glorious underdogs of the Universe scoring here. I'm talking about people with less than savory intentions getting seemingly rewarded for their bad behavior. While those that work hard to tow the line and “do the right thing” are sitting back saying...”Wait a minute. How's this work again?”

On a personal level, I've been mostly able to sit back and just shake my head about it all. But, there have been a few instances where I've had to pull myself back and remember, “Ok. This is not my circus. Those are not my monkeys.” In other words, it isn't my business, really, what happens to someone else. What I perceive as fair or unfair in this Universe matters very little in the grand scheme of things. I don't know the true circumstances or ethereal reasoning (if any) behind what is going on. So, I just need to keep plugging in light of the temptation to just gather up my toys and go home because “I'm not playing with you jerks anymore.” I've had to remind myself, “Hey, Josi. Do you have any problem sleeping in the bed you've made?”...”No.”...”Then let's keep our nose in our own business and not change that, ok?” I whimpered, “But it isn't fair!” a few times, though.

I talk about self-nurturing a lot. This is more of a call toward effective self-parenting. It reminds me of when my boys were little. They are only 2 years apart in age. It never failed, when one got in trouble he always pointed a finger at the other child saying, “but HE does this...this and this!” I would consistently tell them, “this instance right here has nothing to do with your brother. We are talking about you. What he does or does not do is irrelevant to what you chose to do.” Um, yeah. It's a lot like that.

My heart says to me that much of what is happening is equivalent to the exaltation before the fall. In other words, this story ain't done yet. These weird twists of fate may look like blessings. But, in the long run, I'm not thinking they are going to turn out so great. But, then again, I have a tendency toward a vengeful, who knows. It's still a little assholish of me to wish for some of this stuff to blow up in someone else's face. As I look up from my fantasies about this stuff blowing up, I see that my self-parent is standing over me again shaking her head. “It's not your business, Josi. Quit wishing bad stuff on others and mind your own beeswax.”

If you happen to find yourself wrapped up in a similar situation do not let someone else's fortune cause you to act in a way that could potentially debase your own future. Even if it's not fair. Even if you want to take your toys and just go home. Even if you are over there working your rear off while Spoiled Susie gets everything she wants handed to her on a silver platter with seemingly little to no positive effort on her part. Reel it in. Mind your business. Grow it up. Or, at the very least, wait to throw your hissy fit while no one is looking. The right thing is STILL the right thing regardless of reward and/or consequence.

After the Moon meets Mars by trine this morning, she if Void until entering Leo at around Noon tomorrow. Use the Void Moon period to allow your inner child to take a nap and eat some cookies. Gift yourself your own reward without expecting it to be doled out through circumstance. Take a time out...put your big kid panties on and get ready to deal. Oh, and make sure you have some popcorn, because the whole adults reacting like spoiled children throwing fits thing? It's going to become more prominent as we get closer to the Full Moon on the 3rd. In that, there may be some opportunity to just “sit back and enjoy the show.” I don't know about you, but, I'd rather be an audience member than a performer in that display.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for January 31 2015

Today is the day to tap into “flow.” This morning we wake up to the Moon in Cancer. She spends most of the day in a water trine with Venus (11:56 AM) and Neptune in Pisces (2:20 PM). This feels good to me. Relaxing. Quiet. Subdued. Demure.

These aspects bring to mind a beautiful watercolor painting. Subtle, watery hues. The image is blurred just enough to create a graceful softness.

It just looks like a great day to huddle at home and bake cookies, to me. Is that bad? I know there are some folks that revel in ambition and outward venturing. Some days, I'm in that group. But, staying home and warming the house with the smell of baked goodness sounds nice to me under this sky. Comforting. Settled. Banana bread, maybe? OoOoh, that sounds good too! But, this is me expressing my inner artisan.

I encourage you to express your inner artisan however you do that. Mine also paints, takes pictures, makes jewelry and magic wands, and tinkers with creating potions. Well, I call them potions but mostly they are lotions, balms and herbal bath remedies.

My inner artisan is influenced by my Pisces Moon square Neptune in Sagittarius and Venus in Virgo square Saturn in Gemini. Plus, my South Node is in my house of creativity (5th) which (in my chart) is ruled by Cancer. My favorite artisan indulgence? Baking and decorating cupcakes or cakes. It grounds me and brings me back to a feeling of my roots. Waaaay back in my genealogy, there is a branch of my family tree that opened a bakery. I like to think I carried some of their talents with me. Plus, my Pisces Moon is really good at interjecting a lot of imagination into the decorating. Only problem is (for me, anyway), when I'm done creating the cupcakes I cannot eat them. For real, I made these little cupcakes that looked like owls once. By the time they were finished, they weren't just cupcakes, they were my friends smiling up at me with their Oreo and M&M eyes. How could I eat them?

At any rate, today is a good day to indulge your inner artisan or to, at least, spend some time exploring where that little creative entity lies within you. It's great for making a nice home cooked meal that fills your home with whatever lovely spicy scents you enjoy. You know, today would even be a good day for huddling on your favorite couch or chair and getting lost in a book.

Find your flow and relax into it. The waves are not choppy or overbearing today. Sink into it. Things like music and poetry can help with this.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for January 30, 2015

This morning we wake up to a Void Moon in Gemini. She reaches this status after a sextile with Jupiter in Leo at 4:25 AM. After the lights go off on the Moon, Mars meets Uranus by sextile (8:35 AM) and Mercury meets the Sun by conjunction (8:46 AM).
This is my cat. His name is Mercury. In this picture, he is conjunct the Sun. See it behind him? HA!

Mental and physical activity levels are high. But, the emotional body is stale and likely not engaged. The energy to be productive is present. We just may not feel like doing anything. If you are a Saturn type who feels like a day is wasted if you don't accomplish something, then today may be disappointing. However, if you've worked your rear off all week and are ready to take a break without feeling guilty about it...well, here you go!

I can help some of our Saturn folks out too. Did you know that rest and recuperation are important jobs? Taking care of your equipment is a necessity for it to remain productive. Your body is no different.

Also, on an emotional level, take advantage of this opportunity for a break here. At 2:09 AM the Moon enters Cancer. Tomorrow we spend most of the day under a trine from the Moon to both Venus and Neptune (and an inconjunct to Saturn). There's plenty of room for emotional waters to flow in that.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for January 29, 2015

This morning we wake up to the Moon in Gemini leaving a square with Neptune in Pisces (5:11AM) and moving toward a trine with the Sun in Aquarius (11:07 AM). At 2:36 PM she is in trine to Mercury in Aquarius. Then, at 6:14 PM she is in sextile with Uranus in Aries.

As our minds are collectively churning back and forth under a Moon whose ruler is running backward and getting reading to run across the Sun, Venus is waxing into square with Saturn (3:24 AM). The energy of “tough love” hangs with us through this day. This could influence what everyone is talking about or it could bring an air of discomfort to the meetings in which the mental collaboration is taking place.

At 7:13 PM, though, the Moon meets Mars in Pisces by square and we are wishing everyone would just hush. We've had our feel of chattering heads. We are likely ready to rest our tired bones and let all of this information simmer.

If we are not participating in intervention meetings, conventions, social gatherings or some other event that inspires outward conversation, much of the information being explored could happen on an internal level. Minds are churning but mouths may be shut under Mercury retrograde. Either way, this can eventually tax the nerves.

Under Venus square Saturn, we may feel lonely, rejected, not good enough, or even strapped for love, affection or money. The better way to use this aspect is to draw boundaries around what it is we desire and how it is the outer world can affect it. Be responsible in regard to what you care for. Learn the difference between “want” and “need.” Make a financial plan or stick to your budget. Use your consumer power to influence the future treks of commerce. Look for where you are blessed instead of where you may feel lack.

With so much Air swirling around in the sky today, the small interjection of Earth via Saturn in Sagittarius can provide essential grounding, keeping us from becoming completely swept up. So, even though Venus/Saturn doesn't scream “PARTY TIME” it does have use.

Tomorrow the Moon is Void all day after a sextile with Jupiter at 4:25 AM. We will have plenty of time to dispassionately pontificate all the information exchanged today. And, we are likely to do so optimistically and with an eye toward the future. No one is acting on this information yet. We are just letting the pot simmer, opening the lid to let off steam and stirring as per appropriate. And, that's ok. There's plenty of information with plenty of time to consider it. No need to feel rushed or hurried in that regard.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for January 28, 2015

This morning we wake up to a Void Moon in Taurus. She remains Void until entering Gemini at 5:37 PM. Venus is now in Pisces waxing toward a square with Saturn in Sagittarius. As the Moon passes into Gemini, she squares Venus (8:58 PM) and opposes Saturn (11:44 PM) creating a lovely (ha!) mutable t-square. Oh wait! Neptune is in this mix too. The Moon squares Neptune at 5:11 AM tomorrow. All (Venus/Saturn/Neptune) are within a span of 5 degrees mutable.

Moon opposite Saturn can be a downer all by it's lonesome. Moon square Neptune is watery, empathic and, at times, confused. Venus conjunct Neptune in Pisces? Um. That is a big, all encompassing energy right there. Gaseous and consuming, like a thick fog around your heart which can be comforting, confusing, drunk, claustrophobic, scary or it may even look like a dream come true. It's given form when in square with Saturn. Or, it can be. Or it could be that Venus/Neptune is overly deluded and Saturn comes to bring some hard truths or difficult realities.

Moon in Gemini doesn't know whether its heart will explode or be completely stomped. But, it could also play out that the love of our dreams, the thing we want so badly we dream about it, manifests in physical and tangible form right in front of us. Is it a mirage? What do we do with it? Whether this energy comes forward as harshness upon a bleeding heart or exaltation of the greatest love of our life, it's confusing.

Normally when things are confusing and we are talking about a mutable t-square, I encourage folks to channel the magnificent powers of Virgo to sort the mess out. You can still do that today. But, bear in mind that Mercury is retrograde. What that means is all the information is not in yet for us to organize and separate out. But, we can get started. Fact in one pile. Fiction in another. Irrelevant information in a third. Then, as Mercury brings us more of the picture we keep sorting it out in the appropriate piles.

I'm really not too worried about our early mutable folks dealing with Neptune. Folks with planets between 0 and 5 degrees mutable have been dealing with Neptune by harsh aspect since 2012. We've been swimming for 3 years, man. Most of us have grown gills and can now speak Dolphin fluently.

What I do worry about is someone who is unfamiliar with this energy getting washed out by it. From where I'm sitting, I see Saturn coming to the folks who have been dealing with Neptune for so long like an island emerging out of the ocean. Finally! LAND! Unless, that is, you are a mutable that has gotten swept up in some kind of addiction during this forever long Neptune transit. In that case, you can either rectify and shore up your addictions or Saturn will do it for you. These transits can also cause heartbreak that leads to depression and, in some instances, hasty decisions made in the “moment.” Mercury Rx is still within orb of a sextile with Uranus in Aries. It perfected overnight. There is genius potential in that. But, the energy can also prompt nervousness, anxiety and cause someone to jump to conclusions way too quickly.

Do you remember Instant Polaroid pictures? When you first take the picture and the camera spits it out, the image is all blurry. However, in time, the picture magically becomes more clear. It takes time for the picture to develop and make sense. Well. Today, the picture has just been taken and spit out of the camera. We do not know exactly what the end product will look like. We've got to give that image time to develop. This is going to occur as Venus moves closer in square to Saturn. That aspect perfects on January 30. But, even with that Mercury is STILL retrograde. So, we have the complete image at that time but we still don't know the whole story. Venus meets Neptune by conjunction after she perfects in square to Saturn. So, even the picture may blur in and out a few times before it is really clear.

Wait. That's what I'm encouraging you to do. Whatever occurs under this sky, wait it out. Give the picture and the story time to develop. Be patient. And, if you can, do nothing in response. Yeah...I know that's hard.

The thing of bigger importance is that you take care of yourself and your emotional body through whatever is occurring. We will worry about what to do about it when we know what it is we are truly dealing with. Right now, we really don't. We may think we do. But, we do not.

Lots of minds will be reeling today trying to put the pieces together around what is going on. Hearts will be wide open and sensitive. We shift from a feeling of being awash to a feeling of being dried up sober in a matter of mere minutes. Then, we do it again. Wave upon wave. Beached and subsequently wiped out...over...and over...and over. And, it's as if it comes on all of a sudden. You know? This morning was quiet, fairly uneventful. But, by tonight...storms could be raging both on a personal level and in a literal sense. Stay safe. Do nothing but self-preserve and wait it out.

UNLESS...oh yeah, there's more. Black Moon Lilith is hovering in the early degrees of Virgo. Her energy completes a mutable grand cross with our Moon, Venus/Neptune and Saturn. First, don't you utter a word about someone acting as if they are hormonal even if you know they are. Not. One. Word. Got me? Next, God made people not doormats. Yes, God made people who make doormats but it was never intended for any of us to be one. So, if you discover that you are getting walked over, stand up for yourself. Nope. Won't make you popular. But, it is a necessity at times.

See, Venus in Pisces is waxing into opposition with BML in Virgo. It's not that these two don't get along. They can! But, right now, BML is looking across the zodiac at Venus and shouting “You fucking enabler!” LOL. Today and the rest of January have tough love written all over them. Venus loves you like God does. But, she needs to remember she is NOT God and we aren't in Heaven, man. This is Earth life and sometimes in Earth life you have to be tough in order to love effectively. No enabling. No excuses. The proper measure of a critical view AND love mixed together with responsibility and the ability to look at all the information we do have in front of us right now. So yeah...there's that too.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for January 27 2015

This morning we wake up to the Moon still in lovely, smooth Taurus. At 8:35 AM she dances with Mars in Pisces via sextile. There is a little spark of motivation there. Just a little. Enough to get us out of bed.

At 10:00 AM, Venus dives from Aquarius into Pisces. These are her home waters. Born of the sea and exalted in Pisces, Venus has, in essence, returned home to be reborn.

At 11:56 AM the Moon meets with tension as it crosses past Mercury by square. Something is said or heard that unsettles the emotional body. Ask for clarification before drawing a conclusion. Make sure you heard what you thought you heard. Reflect it back to the speaker. Did they say what you thought they said? Did they mean what they said the way you interpreted it? You are going to want to be clear here because soon, our cow Moon is going to put its head down and plow forward.

At 12:36 PM the Moon meets Pluto by sextile. That Ox is ready to plow through whatever is in its way and she is imbibed with the power to do so. Forbearance. Endurance. Strength. Not of the physical sort but of the emotional kind. There is a lot on this Moon's shoulders but she is equipped to carry it around.

By 2:11 PM, our Moon is in sextile to Chiron in Pisces. Perhaps her sore shoulder is acting up again. Maybe she has endured enough and realizes she has reached her limit. I don't see her being crushed under this weight so much as I see her throwing it off.

By 9:19 PM the Moon is square Jupiter and the work of the day has surely ended. It is definitely time for a break, a slow down, a moment to relax and rest before we jump back out there and do it again. Our bodies are tired. But our minds are reeling under a waxing sextile from Mercury in Aquarius to Uranus in Aries.

Don't you hate that? Your body is worn the heck out but your mind is wired and running full speed ahead keeping you from getting the rest you need. This aspect perfects right at midnight. The best way to prevent mental over-churning is to steer clear of extra stimulants in the evening hours (skip that evening cup of coffee or late night soda). Ground. Meditate.

After the square to Jupiter, the Moon is Void until entering Gemini tomorrow evening at 5:37 PM. We may escape some of the mind jitters that accompany Mercury/Uranus due that. But, know it will be back when the Moon trines and sextiles these two planets on the 29th.

As for today, there may be a point where you feel like you are bearing the weight of the world on your shoulders. Know that it is your choice to carry it around all by yourself. But, just so happens, for a time, you may feel as if you have the ability to do that. At some point, though, we realize our humanness and decide to lay the load down and rest. And, rest we should. The opportunity for that extends through the morning and evening hours of tomorrow until the lights come back on the Moon.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for January 26, 2015

This morning we wake up to Moon in Aries disarmed by Venus in Aquarius. The two meet by sextile at 9:24 AM just as the Moon reaches Void status. She remains Void until entering Taurus at 11:38 AM, right in time for lunch.

This afternoon, there is a chance for some tension. The morning is fairly smooth. But, as the Moon enters Taurus something shifts. In the morning, we are charmed by the idea of change. By evening, we may be wishing we could go back to the way things were. Just one more time. Our memories are still so fresh its as if we can relive every moment. One more goodbye kiss. One more time to just snuggle into someone's essence. One more time to hear them laugh again.

At 10:29 PM the Moon meets Neptune by sextile. A million country songs just flashed through my head in the mere moment it took me to write that sentence. They were all about remembering someone and wishing you had been given more time. One last goodbye. One last conversation. Just one more. That's all we want. We know we can't stay there. But, can't we just go back and taste that moment again?

We could have those same feelings about things that have slipped away as well as people. “I wish I had eaten one more package of Oreo's before I started this diet.” One more time to dip their chocolatey goodness into a glass of ice cold milk. One more time to allow the smooth sweetness of the icing to coat my tongue.

This feeling continues to exacerbate as we are met with our First Quarter Moon. Remember those intentions or promises you made to yourself at the first of the month or the first of the year? Today is the day those intentions may meet with the anchor of resistance. Temptation and sweet memories of the past wax in calling us to return. “What is all this crazy talk of change? Why can't we just cling to what is? Can we not just stop time for a second to keep it from barreling forward so quickly that we miss what is happening right now?” The thought of it makes my heart hurt. Don't worry. That's a familiar feeling when you have a Pisces Moon. There's this particular kind of ache of hollowness. Every now and then, though, something comes along and tickles that ache making it more prominent. In a mildly masochistic way, I kind of like it. You may just experience similar under Moon sextile Neptune.

I understand what it is like to look back upon a past situation in your life and wish that you could go back to it one more time. (Boy, do I ever) Astrology can say that Moon/Neptune is forgetful as much as it wants to. But, when there is a memory that packs an emotional punch, Moon/Neptune can remember plenty in vivid detail and re-paint a picture of that moment in their mind through use of not only a memory of what happened, but memories that incorporate information from every sense of the body. You remember how the person smelled. You remember the temperature of the room. The background noise. Not only do you remember the events from that moment, you remember the feel of it. That makes missing someone particularly bittersweet. It's as if they are almost right there in front of you. There are times when you may think you can actually hear their voice or catch a wafting of their perfume. The only thing missing is your ability to physically touch them. But, your body can even remember what that was like.

The best way to deal with this energy? Go there. Taurus is not the best energy to force self-denial upon. If you are tempted to break your diet that you started at the beginning of the year, then reasonably indulge just a little...maybe three Oreo's instead of the whole package. And, if you find yourself with someone, drink that experience in...what if tomorrow never comes? Or what if tomorrow comes and they aren't there.

If you feel like you have been on a swift forward moving train of change, give yourself permission to get off and enjoy the scenery at the next stop. Self-check where you are. Take time to drink in the present moment. If you find yourself drifting backward, go there instead of fighting it.

At the same time, don't let your memories of the past and your longings to rekindle something to derail you completely. It's always your favorite sins that do you in. But, you can use the diligence and plodding of Taurus to just slow you down long enough to reassess the changes you have made. You don't need to completely jump track. Maybe previously made plans for the future need to be re-considered, tweaked or re-assessed. Mercury is retrograde you know? Mentally go there. But don't aim to just remember the good things you might be leaving behind. Remember what circumstances catalyzed you toward change to begin with. Were you being impulsive in your plans to move forward? Slow down and re-think it. If you decide this is still something you want to move forward with, then take one solid step in that direction. However, if you are not sure, slow down and let it simmer for awhile. This is not a race. Whatever moment you find yourself in tonight, savor it. Worry about tomorrow and the future when it comes. Tonight, touch, feel, smell and sink into the present moment. Drink in every drop imprinting it in your mind and upon your soul. Tomorrow will come. You cannot stop it. Today, however, is fleeting and dying one second at a time.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for January 25, 2015

This morning we wake up to a startled Moon in Aries. She runs straight into the Lightning God at 8:02 AM. It's like we are jump started, what was IN that coffee? By 8:02 AM, our Moon is squaring off with Pluto in Capricorn. I guess she decided to get all of her heavy hitting over early in the morning. There could be some turbulence or feelings of being unsettled first thing; but, as afternoon approaches, the astrological weather begins to smooth out.

At 10:42 AM the Moon meets Mercury by sextile then Jupiter by trine at 4:53 PM. Even though we have the potential for a rocky start to this day, we still have plenty of time this afternoon to relax and loosen up before we have to jump back into our work week. I see an opportunity with Moon sextile Mercury Rx to re-think how we feel. We foster better terms with ourselves and could decide that we were looking at a situation all wrong. You can reach for some clarity here.

With the Moon trine Jupiter, however you build your emotions, they expand and grow. So, while you are re-wiring your outlook, keep that in mind. Aim for gratitude and look for what may be a blessing in disguise. Sometimes the Universe wraps those in weird packages. The ability to discover those blessings in disguise is connected to your ability to look at things differently and foster a new perspective. It's harder than it sounds but definitely a beneficial talent to develop.

Overall, today is good for finishing up weekend projects that may have been initiated yesterday. This afternoon is earmarked for winding down and relaxing. Maybe a little reading or light conversation. Perhaps a little play time with the kiddos. Whatever tickles your fancy, reach for it and treat yourself with it tonight. You deserve it.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for January 24, 2015

You know what? Mercury retrograde in Aquarius reminds me of the Terminator movies. It's like the machines are threatening to take over and we are tasked with taking our lives back from them. Sounds nuts, right? But, I'm serious. It's time to re-think our use of technology and our reliance on it.

First, technology is not inherently evil. Ok? It's just a tool. As with any tool, we have to be responsible in regard to how we use them. Unfortunately, the convenience of certain technologies has made us lax in that regard. I mean, folks can now pay their bills with just a click of a mouse. Or, you can set things up on auto-withdrawal every month and never even have to push a button. This level of convenience, however, does open the door to potential trouble. Hackers are smart, man. You know? Opening up your bank account to online activity also opens it up to a sideways type of thievery and gives your resources a certain vulnerability. Plus, some online banking deals are rife with hidden fees. They will nickel and dime you to death.

Even writing a check now-a-days can become an act of vulnerability. On the bottom of your check is all the information a thief may need to hack your checking account. We freely give away personal information that can be twisted and used against us while relying on outside official entities to protect this information. When really it is ultimately OUR job to protect our own information too and be discriminating in how we use or distribute it. But, the convenience is so alluring and still so novel that sometimes we get lax in this regard. Sometimes, that lax attitude comes back to bite us on the rear.

A lot of places of commerce don't even accept cash as payment anymore. I find this kind of crazy but, it is the way of the modern world. People rarely carry cash and, in essence, we have protected ourselves from direct and outright thievery in that regard while leaving ourselves wide open for thievery on a different level. You can literally exchange goods and services on a very high level and never touch a red cent. AND our culture encourages you to do so.

With this Mercury retrograde, though, I see trouble being brought to these online trading entities. I see machines breaking down (like ATM's, online servers, networking systems) or being breached forcing us to look at just how reliant we have become on these mechanisms. In that, there may be times when we are also forced to do things the old fashioned way. And I've got a feeling that may be harder than it seems at times. For example, I normally pay my house payment online. I don't have to do a thing. There is a company that takes care of this for me by automatically withdrawing the money from my account. So far, it's been a great and reliable service. However, I had to stop using it due to personal circumstances and this month (under this retrograde) I had to request a counter check for my house payment and put it in the old fashioned mail. Do you know how long it has been since I've done this? Ten years. I wasn't even sure they issued counter checks anymore and had to check with the teller first to be sure. Imagine that. There are still living and breathing folks working at the bank even if you can rarely get one on the phone. They are still there! I've SEEN THEM!

At any rate, this IS a great time to re-think your personal use of technology and pull back from so many automated processes and begin to actually go through the old fashioned methods once again either by choice or by force (because this stuff breaks down or is compromised). There's plenty of other energy attached to this retrograde. This is just one way I've seen it playing out so far.

Alright, now that I've gotten that off my chest, let's talk about today, shall we? This morning we wake up to the Moon in Aries. I'm not so much a fan of Moon in Aries because it creates my monthly personal full Moon (tr. Moon opposite natal Sun) and it's a bit too vigorous for my personal tastes acquired from my Pisces Moon. However, today's Aries Moon offers a great deal of traction and wonderful opportunity to make forward progress. Today is the day you want to work to initiate stuff on a physical level. Information and communication wise we still have the retrograde to be mindful of. But, you can go pretty far in the realm of physical offline work today.

Motivation is encompassed in the lunar position itself. Traction through the day is provided by a sweet trine from the Moon to Saturn at 1:30 PM. We are task oriented and have the ability to take some solid steps forward today. Um...but those steps forward may have to be taken without the assistance or reliance upon machinery. I'm talking work in the offline world here as the indication is to kind of withdraw from cyberspace at this time. So, shut your computer off and get busy (after you finish reading this, of course). Indulge in tangible life and don't be afraid to put out some sweaty, gritty effort into the process. It will pay off in the long run. This certainly isn't a day for laying around. We should have gotten our fill of that under the Moon in Pisces. Now is the time to get up off the couch and DO something...anything...but don't just sit there.

Of course the contra-indication to this comes if you are sick. In that instance be pro-active in getting better. There are some types of illnesses that can be alleviated through “sweating it out” but don't attempt that unless you know it will be beneficial. Over-taxing yourself during an illness is never a good idea. As a matter of fact, taxing yourself too much could even cause future illnesses by breaking down your body's natural immunity due to over-stress. So, know the difference.

At 4:07 PM, the Moon is in a harmonious sextile with the Sun in Aquarius. This allows us to be proactive about fostering change in our lives and really get on board with whatever work we have to do both from the perspective of our ego and our emotional body. Turn on some good music to keep Mars in Pisces upbeat and mobile and get moving.

Tomorrow there are a few speed bumps we will have to traverse in the early morning with the Moon's conjunct to Uranus and square to Pluto. But, after that, the roadway opens back up again with supportive aspects that encourage us to keep moving forward in light of whatever potential conflict these early energies may bring. Mark your path forward and jump on it with enthusiasm. The wind could certainly be at your back in that regard today. Keep your “eye on the prize” and your hands firmly on the steering wheel. Take command of your ship and work with the wind and water instead of against it. You may be surprised how far this can take you.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for January 23, 2015

This morning we wake up to Void Moon in Pisces. It lasts all day, basically. The lights on the Moon go off after the Moon meets Pluto by sextile (6:14 AM) and Chiron by conjunction (7:31 AM). The focus is on endurance and healing. Transforming deeply seated emotions in an effort to re-birth primordial pains into coping mechanisms that assist us to operate in light of them instead of allowing these pains to be continually thorns in our sides.

There are not many external events happening out there today. But, there is plenty stirring under the surface of visible life. Guts are churning and processing some heavy stuff that not everyone is willing to talk about right now. This may cause a need for withdraw, self-protection and maybe even some additional rest. Either way it looks a lot like we go through this day operating on auto-pilot as all this other stuff kind of churns away internally.

In that, we are tasked with floating. It's not a good day to initiate or take action. Instead, follow where your emotional body leads you while employing your self-nurturing abilities in the process. Support from the outside world may be lax or non-existent so, we've got to find a way to deliver it to ourselves at this time. Give things space and time to unfold. Mercury is retrograde so all the facts are not in yet and there is more information that needs time to develop and reveal itself. You can work to refine your perspective and look at things differently in an effort to re-script how you look at your life. This is a good time to do that.

The Moon remains Void until entering Aries in the morning at 8:32 AM. So, process whatever you need to process on an internal emotional level, get a good night's rest and be prepared to take action and engage under the incoming moon. Be gentle with yourself and others because there is potential for this internal roiling to be quite widespread.

This could be a “snow day” in some areas, too. So, know that if you have planned to get out in the workforce today, the Universe (and the weather) could have other plans that force you to stay home. Go with that if it occurs. Ok? Don't be out on the roads if they are bad unless you absolutely have to. If you DO have to get out in bad weather, remember, Mercury is retrograde so be very mindful while driving and watch out for others who may be distracted or intimidated by driving in bad weather. Leave yourself and others plenty of space whether on the roads or not.

If you are sick, take this day to rest and recuperate. There is wonderful potential for rest and healing wrapped under this Moon but not so much of an ambitious feel. Don't force yourself to be productive if you are not feeling well. If you are contagious, please stay home and get better or seek medical treatment. If things feel confusing and befuddled, give them time. The picture is not fully developed and getting it to develop is not a race. It's more of an exercise in patience than anything.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for January 22, 2015

This morning we wake up to the Moon in Pisces. Wait a minute. Wake up? Do we ever really fully do that under a Pisces Moon? Well, it looks like we may be forced to under this one. Her first aspect is a sobering square to Saturn in Sagittarius at 12:21 PM. The boss says, “SNAP OUT OF DREAMLAND AND FOCUS!” Ooooh, bother......

But, you know what, by 5:29 PM, the Moon is conjunct Neptune and we could be tipping a few back as we forget all about what the boss person said. “We are off the clock bucko. You can't boss us around anymore. Therefore NAPTIME! Or beer-thirty.” Or, washout. Yeah, there's that potential too. Tides are rising.

At 9:11 PM, the Moon is conjunct Mars in Pisces which could make us feel angry for no specific reason at all. Or, it could make us horny. Or, it could have us really motivated to do...nothing, except finally lay down for a good night's sleep and forget about this day in its entirety.

Things begin to firm up overnight and into the morning hours of tomorrow with the Sun meeting Saturn by sextile at midnight and the Moon moving in to meet Pluto by sextile at 6:14 AM. Today could be a down and drifty day. But, we do find some traction tomorrow and are able to power through the last day of our work week with a bit more clarity. Plus, after the Moon meets with Pluto, she is Void until entering Aries at 8:32 AM on the 24th.

Today, though, focus and ambition could be lax. We could be easily distracted and our minds may drift everywhere except for where they should be drifting. We could be called on our watery-ness either from an outside authority figure or by ourselves with the square from Saturn. It all comes out in the wash eventually though. To navigate this day and reach for it's highest potential, try to remain grounded and focused upon the work at hand. Then, deal with all the emotionality of whatever is pinging at you later this evening. Get a good night's sleep and be ready to kick this week to the curb tomorrow. On top of that, whatever harshness the square from Saturn may bring to you early in this day, forget about it.

Let it go. Water under the bridge. We do have the energy accessible to do that this evening with the conjunction of the Moon to Neptune and then to Mars. Call it transcending, ignoring or act like a duck. A duck? Yes. Let the water roll off your back...let tensions go just as they present themselves while allowing none of the water to stick or saturate you. K, so your “boss” was an asshole today. Cheers, mine too.He or she is probably dealing with some emotional stuff that is affecting them today too. Let's drink to that and sleep on it.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for January 21, 2015

This morning we wake up to a budding Moon in Aquarius. She is just leaving a sextile with her current ruler, Uranus (4:41 AM) and is working toward a conjunction with Mercury (11:14 AM). As a matter of fact, Mercury is so anxious to meet up with the Moon, he turns around and starts moving backward toward her. Mercury turns retrograde in Aquarius at 10:52 AM. Memories of long lost friends may float back to you as Mercury crosses backward across the Moon. This would be a good day to vow to reconnect. Some of the information that Mercury delivers from his station point could be emotionally taxing creating nervousness or anxiety. Ground and be patient with yourself through that if it becomes an issue.

By 3:22 PM, the Moon is in opposition to Jupiter which can cause feelings of exuberance and optimism. Or, it could blow things right out of proportion or foster selfish behavior if left unchecked. Of course, there is nothing wrong with being a little selfish from time to time especially if it involves self-care. Treat yourself but don't be obnoxious about it.

Treating yourself and indulging in self-care is highlighted even further as the Moon meets Venus by conjunction later tonight (8:46 PM). This is your cue to relax right before the Moon goes Void. Enjoy time with friends. Re-connect with old friends you've not spoken to for awhile. You can recharge through socializing and stepping away from the electronics or unplugging for awhile.

Tomorrow, the Moon enters Pisces and you know what that means. The tides will rise, people will likely withdraw and things could become eerily quiet and a bit more emotional. Take advantage of the breeziness of today and get well grounded in preparation for that.

Today is likely the “thaw” before the final “freeze.” Right now is a great time to do a check in with your emergency preparedness kits...just a hunch. I've a feeling we've got some wonky weather coming in parts of the world. It's not a bad time to check in on your car battery and fluid levels either, if you've not done that lately. Look for things like corrosion of electrical lines. Open up your electric box (check outlets too!) and look at it for things like overloaded circuitry, loose or ungrounded wiring and call in an expert when necessary. Re-think your use or reliance upon technology. Be a responsible warden of such things in regard to their disposal after they “die” and their storage. Look for local resources that assist in proper disposal or recycling of these items. I know. Sounds boring. But, you may just thank yourself for it later. A little preparation and attentiveness to such things right now goes a very long way.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for January 20, 2015

Welcome, officially, to Aquarius Season. This morning the Sun entered the sign at 4:44 AM. The Moon followed his lead and entered Aquarius at 8:01 AM. The New Moon perfects at 8:15 AM at 0 degrees and 9 minutes of Aquarius.

This New Moon pulls upon not only the power of Aquarius, but also garners support from the Moon's current co-rulers Saturn in Sagittarius (12:17 PM) and Uranus in Aries (wide, perfects at 4:41 AM tomorrow) by sextile on either side. Venus in Aquarius is still within orb of an opposition with Jupiter in Leo. Mars is still within orb of a conjunction with Neptune in Pisces. And, Pluto officially squares the Nodal Axis.

Within this New Moon are the tools you need to pioneer new paths (Uranus in Aries) and lay solid groundwork for the future (Saturn in Sagittarius) in light of the fact that our life's trajectory has been forever altered (Pluto square the nodal axis). We are able to open our hearts up to new possibilities (Venus opposite Jupiter) and are motivated to let go of the past even if we are still feeling the reverberations of remorse (Mars conjunct Neptune). This is our opportunity to begin again with a new vision while standing on the truth.

The day feels quite hopeful to me. But, I have a tendency to think beginnings are full of promise yet to be fulfilled. Some, however, find new beginnings scary. This can because they don't know the rules of the new game or because they were comfortable the way things were. In this newness, however, you can write your own rules and are encouraged to do so. Of course, new beginnings walk hand in hand with fresh endings, so there could also be some grief associated with this.

This New Moon is great for making new friends. Or, with Mercury stationing in preparation to turn retrograde tomorrow, it's even great for re-connecting with old friends. It's wonderful for joining groups or participating in humanitarian efforts. You can gain support in numbers where the participants have a common goal.

The sabian for this New Moon is “An old adobe mission in California.” The theme, according to Blain Bovee, is “ the power inherent in all great human works to endure far beyond the workers' life spans.” When I first read that, I thought of building a legacy. Today's sky supports initiating something like that. But, it also reminds me of the negative potential in human works enduring beyond the worker's life spans. Waste. Technological and chemical waste particularly.

Venus in opposition to Jupiter can foster concern about the future of our children. Mercury retrograde in Aquarius during most of Aquarius season could have us rethinking our use and disposal of technology. You would think with all this Aquarian energy in the sky I would be prompting you to reach for your technologies and gadgetry. But, the sky actually says maybe we should lay these down from time to time in an effort to reconnect with natural elements and the real world. Of course, this can happen by choice or by force. We can take it upon ourselves to unplug from time to time. Or, circumstances could present that force us to unplug...internet service is shut off or goes down, computers become infected with viruses or just go wonky, cell phones are lost or broken.

Let me give you a brief example. Last year I set an intention that said “I do more work in face to face situations than I do on the Internet.” This intention DID manifest. I currently get paid to regularly meet face to face with people. My time on the Internet has been drastically reduced. But, it didn't occur because I had the willpower to cut down on my online activity. It occurred because circumstances cropped up that ended in my home Internet service being cut off. At this point, I've chosen to keep it off because it forces me to be more organized and helps me streamline my Internet activity. I spend less than an hour a day on the Internet now. I have fewer distractions when I'm working at my computer because I cannot check my emails and messages every few minutes. I'm less scattered because I'm not over-stimulated by blinking lights and electronic bleeps or a constant barrage of message notifications. It was pretty upsetting when it first occurred though. Then, I remembered, “Hey goofy, you asked for this, remember? Well, here you go.”

That being said, this Moon is wonderful for making wishes. The sign of Aquarius does rule those. So if there is something that you want to do but don't know if you have the power to do it on your own or no idea how to begin, put your wish out there to the Universe. At the same time, be careful what you wish for because sometimes the Universe delivers EXACTLY what you want wrapped up in a rather peculiar package.

At the same time, if you experience electronic difficulties during this retrograde, take that as a cue from the Universe that you may need to unplug from that device for awhile in an effort to re-balance your life. Re-think how you use technology. How reliant on it are you? Re-think how we use chemicals and advanced science (medications, advanced health care machinery and travel instrumentation for example). Are there non-chemical means of treating your ailments that you have not lifestyle changes or holistic healing methods. Can you be more efficient? Are you over-stimulated and distracted? Do you remember how to operate in a world that doesn't contain this technology? What did you do before you were enticed by all these bleeps and bloops? Whether your connection to the world is maintained or stripped away unexpectedly, these are points for consideration during this time. We re-think what progress really is. We re-write personal rules around modern life. We come up with new ways to deal with electronic and chemical waste in an effort to ensure a cleaner world for our future generations. The promise and opportunity for all of this lies in our sky today.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for January 19, 2015

This morning we wake up to a Capricorn Moon just leaving a square with Uranus in Aries (4:26 AM) and conjunction with Pluto (5:52 AM). By 7:04 AM EST, she is in sextile to Chiron in Pisces. The bigger news, however, comes from Venus in opposition to Jupiter (8:45 AM) and Mars conjunct Neptune (7:09 PM). Then, of course, our New Moon in Aquarius perfects in the morning. The aspects from Venus and Mars will still be in force during that lunar movement.

I can tell you that under the waxing influence of Venus opposite Jupiter, I indulged in sweets. A lot. I had French Toast for dinner and made peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips for dessert. That was on Saturday. I'm sure as the aspect tightens I might be tempted to indulge more and I will likely give in to that temptation. Know that you may be prone to indulge in things you normally try to hold at bay too. Above and beyond that, though, we are looking at the polarity of Aquarius and Leo. Venus in Aquarius values brilliance, uniqueness and individuality. She is independent when placed here and definitely does not enjoy being told what she should like or who she should love. She can decide that for herself, thank you very much. Venus in Aquarius can also bring forth a rebellious heart. Plus, in some instances, this placement can produce someone who comes across as an Ice Queen. Cold. Detached. Distant.

Jupiter in Leo can be a joyous child. Children say the darndest things sometimes. You know? I love it when a child opens their mouth and unexpected wisdom falls out. Usually it is such a simple statement that helps other pieces of information fall into place. Usually, we decide (as adults) that the child made these comments unaware of the simple wisdom they contained. Sometimes I wonder if they are channeling angels...but that's just me.

Now. Lets take the Ice Queen and put her across the room from the warmth of children laughing. She's more comfortable in an aseptic laboratory. But, here she is mere feet away from children playing on the floor and swapping germs like they were trading cards. Can she overlook the potential “messiness” and join in on the fun? Will she remain in her little isolated corner of the room with her back against the wall almost in fear of this warmth touching or melting her? Or, will one of the children remind her of herself when she was younger enticing her to come up off her icy throne and melt a little. I'm betting she melts all over the place. And, the entire scene reminds me of the movie Dragonfly.

In this movie, there is a beautiful lady doctor (Venus in Aquarius) who is in no way an ice queen. She is, however, brilliant both in what she does (working with children who have been diagnosed with cancer and also embarking on missionary trips to foreign countries to deliver medical aid) and how she loves. Her youthful but very ill patients adore her. In the movie, some of the sick children had near death experiences. When they were revitalized and recovered, they began talking about what they had seen on “the otherside.” During her life, the doctor would listen to these stories but the movie never revealed whether she believed in them or not.
Her husband, played by Kevin Costner, certainly didn't believe in such happenings. His character was also a doctor who practiced in the same hospital as his wife. In that partnership, he talked about how she was the heart of the union while he was the logic. However, when his wife dies and begins speaking to him through her former patients as they have these near death experiences, well...his former non-belief system begins to melt (seemingly along with parts of his sanity). The children are doing nothing but speaking of their experiences. You know? They don't realize how impactful their statements are. They don't know NOT to believe in this type of thing. And, what they do, in the end is open up Mr. Doctor to new possibilities held within the Universe that he had previous discounted or not given credence too. Uncomfortable, but in a way that also brings hope and expands the Doctor's perspective to see...there is more. There is more than just living and dying. There is something...beyond, even if we don't know exactly what. Venus in Aquarius' appreciation of science and higher knowledge is expanded and stretched in light of wisdom delivered from an ingenue.

That's exactly the type of warmth we can expect from today. The heart may want to melt a little. It may want to step away from its test tubes and Bunsen burners and reach out to a germy little kid just for a hug. She may remember the childhood ambitions that drove her to have such an interest in Aquarian matters and remember how to have fun. The scientist meets with the fact that there are some things that science is not capable of explaining right now. The Ice Queen melts even if she may be resistant to it at first.

Then, Mars conjuncts Neptune. Remember, our hearts have been opened, our perspective widened and we are softened and changed in light of it. How could anyone foster a sense of violence after all of that? Those gentle inklings are reinforced with this conjunction. We are driven by compassion in place of ambition. We could be melting all over the place. Mars could be warming the waters up in the process making the whole experience similar to floating in the primordial waters of the womb. I think all of this sounds wonderfully mushy. But, there are some folks out there that have become so detached from their emotional body that melting could produce effects similar to pouring water into a computer. Some may feel as if their circuitry is misfiring as a result. For those folks, this concept can seem scary. Feelings? Bleep...bloop...gurgle...does...not...compute...

Overall, though, what these aspects bring is a softening to rough edges, hope, washing of the soul, compassion, acts of empathy, charity and the types of tears that come for blessed reasons. all occurs under a Void Moon. After the sextile with Chiron at 7:04 AM, the Moon is void until entering Aquarius at 8:01 AM tomorrow. It takes awhile for all this to percolate through our system. Then it all comes pouring out jubilantly under the promise of a New Moon offering us a chance to build upon this vision of hope and newness that wells up inside of us today.

Or, maybe your kid dumped his bowl of cheerios on your laptop and you have to buy a new one tomorrow. It really can be that simple. I prefer the dramatics of a melting ice queen and short circuiting robot but Jupiter in Leo can play havoc on your cherished machinery too. And, Mars conjunct Neptune can fuel addictions and escapist behaviors. Water, children and machinery don't mix well. However, ice melts well under Jack Daniels and by the end of the day, (after we've discovered that Junior has washed our cell phone in the toilet) we may be prone to reach for it.
