Morning Star: Daily Astrology for August 16, 2014

This morning, we wake up to a beautiful waning Moon in Taurus. Our feet are still on dry (even if somewhat scorched) land. At 8:12 AM, our Moon makes a lovely trine with Pluto in Capricorn. Our solidness is fortified and strengthened even more.

Then, at 9:29 AM, there is a bit of possible friction with Moon opposing Mars in Scorpio. Bed feels good, right? But, you have to get up and make the money to pay the bills. You've got to push through it. But, maaaaaaaaahn, it's SATURDAY! Taurus may win this fixed tug of war and linger in bed a little longer regardless of the bloodthirsty push from Mars in Scorpio. GO ENDURE! Sure. Right after this donut. And, a nap.

At 5:26 PM, the Moon meets Chiron in Pisces by sextile. We hear the haunting calls from our soul and, at this time, we are more likely to nurture and pamper ourselves in light of it. In our tendency toward stubbornness (Taurus Moon), we can be softened by Chiron.
Why, yes. It's a good day for this too. :)

The Moon waxes into an opposition with Saturn at 6:58 PM. So, there is a bit of heaviness and pressure surrounding the day. But, that can be converted to stability and solidness. You may not be used to solidness given we've not had much Earth to come in contact with for quite a while. But...wow. Has it ever been needed. I think it feels pretty good to be given the opportunity to stand on solid ground for a change.

Aside from the solidness and heaviness of today, there is also added pressure coming through due our Last Quarter Moon which perfects at 8:27 AM tomorrow between our Moon in Taurus and Sun in Leo.

After the Last Quarter perfects (8:32 AM EDT on the 17th), the Moon reaches Void status. So, we are likely to feel the pressure today as it waxes in under a sky with two heavy Moon oppositions to begin with (or encounter the conflicts). Then by morning we've already considered it a thing of the past. Moon remains Void tomorrow until reaching Gemini at 6:42 PM tomorrow.

It is a fairly slow day and a Void Moon on a Sunday? Oh yeah, I'll take that.

Sabains for our Last Quarter Moon

For the Sun at 24 Leo: An untidy and unkempt man (yes, I can see how that would cause tension with Taurus)

For the Moon at 24 Taurus: A mountain Indian with scalp locks

Quietly, the Sabian's for this last quarter asks you to drop or at least evaluate, some of your preconceived notions. The one for our Sun in Leo puts YOU in the position of not being seen as “appropriate” while the Sabian for the Moon challenges all of us to look deeply into our core for these little reactions we put out in response to fear that are nearly automatic. See yourself at those times when you were wrongly judged due to appearance and remember what that felt like. Then, when you are put in a position that makes you prone to doling out judgment on someone else, remember your view from the other side of the fence and adjust your reactions accordingly.

The entirety of what the Sabian's are asking us to do, sounds a lot like the conflict occurring between two well known Gods of Rock. Here is a link to the story in case you missed it.

Nikki Sixx has Pluto in Virgo conjunct Gene Simmons' Saturn in Virgo. Sometimes, Virgo (all by itself and Gene has plenty) can be quite critical. Saturn in Virgo can be staunchly critical of anything Pisces related (and I attribute depression and addiction at least partially to Neptune). Saturn, however, is no match for Pluto. And, Pluto will not tolerate Saturn's outdated presumptions that have been fostered in fear and misguided judgment. Nikki's Uranus in Virgo is also conjunct Gene's Moon in Virgo. WaPOW! I've a feeling that Mr. Simmons may have been a bit shocked about the reactions to his statements. Which is good. How easy is it to shock the God of Thunder himself? Well...he needed it. And THANK YOU to Nikki for using his celebrity status to speak out about depression and addiction. We need conversations like this. We also need conversations on many things in regard to life and death. Those doors seem to be swinging open in light of Robin William's death.

Aside from that, the story is also a classic battle royale between Sagittarius and Virgo. Sagittarius can widen Virgo's perspective and Saturn in Virgo CAN change if it chooses. Virgo is mutable. But, what Mr. Simmon's and others like him (many others) are facing is this challenge of chipping away at the stone. Your old rigid mentality no longer works. Expand and soften your perspective. Oh and look! Here's some Neptune for both of you to soften ya up a little!

Change in fixed signs (like our current challenge) or with fixed behaviors is not impossible but it isn't easy, either. It becomes a process of chipping away at the stone. Which is much less brutal than the way Pluto and Uranus handle things in tandem. There is no chipping...just a sudden eradication in which you typically have only one choice "Duck and COVER!" But, today's opportunity for change is fostered through your own free will and takes time to be refined. It takes time, diligence...the steady plodding of Taurus, the curiosity and love of Leo, the endurance of Scorpio and the willingness to change in light of visions from the higher mind from Aquarius.

Good thing about this is that once change is achieved or something new is mastered within the element of fixed signs, it sticks. The long diligent chipping away pays off for a very long time to come.

The Moon also passes over fixed star Maja (66) today. The Moon passed over Maja on the day that Maya Angelou died. And, Maya's mid-heaven is very close (3 degrees) to spearheading the star.

At any rate, this is something I noticed a few days ago and thought, perhaps Maya has words that we need to hear today. Of course, I could listen to Maya's words any day all day...they are that powerful. Which is fairly interesting given the fact that, in myth, Maja or Maia was the mother of Hermes (Mercury).
