Morning Star: Daily Astrology for June 30 2014

This morning we wake up to the Moon in Leo making a little more noise than it did yesterday. Today, our Lioness Moon is waxing into trine with Uranus in Aries (1:41 PM EDT). At around the same time, Moon also meets with Saturn in Scorpio via square (2:59 PM).

This can be an inclination toward impulsiveness that is followed by immediate consequences. However it can also equate to an adventurous or unusual day that still bears responsibility and safety in mind.

These aspects are quite good to have on the first day of our work week. If you can overcome the heaviness of Moon/Saturn, you could be quite productive and perhaps even more alert. And, a good way to overcome the heaviness of Saturn is to work.

Tonight the atmosphere is light and social as our starlet Moon in Leo meets the dancer, Mars in Libra. These two could put on a show all night.
Bear the possibility of a light and social evening in mind as you are pushing through the work hours under the pressure of Moon square Saturn. Remember, it's a Moon transit. It passes quickly.

If things DO get too heavy, remember our Sun is still within orb of trining Neptune and it is ALWAYS 5 o'clock somewhere.

Astrology and Art Sunday: The Magicians

David Copperfield, Harry Houdini, Criss Angel.

What do these three gentlemen have in common? They are all Masters of Illusion.

The word “Magician” conjures up the Tarot Card. This card speaks of “As above, so below” and how to use your “tools” to manifest something into reality.

But, these guys do something a little different. They trick people for a living. And, people pay good money to LET them! Who would have thought you could make an honest living by being deceitful?

It is all in the name of magic. Or, all in the name of illusion more accurately in this case.

But, being Masters of Illusion is not their only connection. All three of these gentlemen have Venus in aspect to Neptune in their natal charts.

Venus square Neptune is making Astrological headlines this morning because the aspect perfected this morning at around 4 AM. For a full write up on today's Astrology, you can go here.

For now, though, let's meet our Masters of Illusion.

We have to start with Houdini. He is the Master's Master and the great grandfather of modern magic. He is also well famed as an escape artist. Not as commonly known, Houdini was also an investigator of spiritualists, film producer, actor and amateur aviator (from his Wiki).

Houdini had Venus conjunct Neptune in Aries. Neither one of these planets are comfortable here. But, Houdini certainly made the aspect work for him. He pioneered (Aries) a whole new world of illusion (Venus/Neptune).

Plus, Harry also had Mars in Taurus square Uranus in Leo. That's a tough aspect to have too. But, he made THIS work for him as well. Mars in Taurus is slow but it can be graceful. Venus/Mars contacts have that potential. In aspect to Uranus, this plodding Mars remains smooth but also quick, precise, surgical. It is perfect for “slight of hand” which is kind of a trademark of modern magicians.

As a matter of fact, Houdini was so naturally elusive that his birthdate was even a mystery for up to a decade. His true birth date was not confirmed until 1972, nearly 100 years after his birth.

Houdini began his career with card tricks. But, eventually, his rise to fame came through his artistry when used as a means of escape. He became known as the “handcuff king” as he traveled throughout the world challenging police to handcuff him in his shows. He always escaped.

His famous escapes were a direct result of employing his ability to create illusion (Venus/Neptune) and move quickly and precisely (Mars/Uranus).

David Copperfield is our second master of illusion. David entered the realm of illusion in the beginning by trying to master ventriloquism. To this day he has an extensive collection of ventriloquist dolls but he says, “I was never any good at it.” This was revealed by David himself when he appeared recently on an episode of “American Restoration.”

In that episode, David was having several LARGE parlor trick devices restored. He is quite the eclectic it seems. He surely has a flare for the unusual.

Copperfield's Venus is in Leo. But, the orb for an aspect to his Neptune is too wide. However, that Neptune is in Libra giving him a Venus/Neptune contact as well. Neptune in Libra is a generational placement. For David, it falls right on the cusp of his 2nd house and trines his Gemini mid-heaven.

Venus in trine to Gemini MC fits well with aspirations for ventriloquism. But, according to David, who is a Virgo, that talent wasn't strong enough to pursue as a career.

Instead, he employed his slight of hand abilities to create illusions. He has Mars in Pisces. Again, not a good placement for Mars, really. But, obviously it can be worked to one's benefit. Copperfield seems to have done quite well with it. I mean he managed to make the Statue of Liberty disappear, levitated over the Grand Canyon and walked right through the Great Wall of China.

Next up, we have our modern day magician/illusionist Criss Angel. I know that Libra's are supposed to play fair, but in this instance, there is no “fair.” Out of all these guys Criss Angel is my favorite. Yeah. I can play favorites. This is my story here :)

Criss has Venus conjunct Neptune in Scorpio. Most of his illusion work does have a sense of macabre. He looks dark. I would have never guessed he had a Sagittarian Sun. My guess would have been more along the lines of Scorpio. But, no, Angel has Sun in Sagittarius conjunct Mercury. That is another aspect of a Magician that correlates more with the Tarot's version. This is particularly true when Sun/Mercury is in aspect to Pluto. And, Angel's Sun/Mercury is in square to his Pluto in Virgo.

That fact only enhances his illusion abilities because he can captivate you with his words as well as his actions.

Speaking of actions, Angel's are driven by Mars in Aquarius. This is another Mars/Uranus aspect that is common for the trade of “slight of hand.” Mostly though, I don't really care what he is doing, I just want to stare into his eyes...forever.

That, my friends, would be due to my Mercury conjunct his Venus/Neptune while my own Venus in Virgo sextiles. Dark, dreamy, mysterious and alluring on a level that no one can really put in to words. That is the mark of Criss' Venus/Neptune. Though, he does use it a lot to scare the bejeezus out of people too. You have to be a little brave and maybe a little nuts to love Criss Angel.

So, there you have it. These are our Venus/Neptune Masters of Illusion. With Venus in aspect to Neptune while the Sun is also in aspect to Neptune and Moon is in Leo, you may run into a few Masters of Illusions yourself. Enjoy the show. But, remember, it is likely all a genius mirage.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for June 29, 2014

Today, we wake up to Moon in Leo and the Sun in Gemini in trine to Neptune in Pisces (3:23 AM EDT).

It isn't a day for strenuous physical work. However, it is a day for creative imaginations and possibly a little magic. I hear a lot of negativity about Neptune. No worries, I can relate. But, Sun trine Neptune could also bring us a touch of divinity or divine compassion.

Or, you can use it as a smoke screen.

Muhammed Ali had Sun trine Neptune. He's not the typical Sun/Neptune native. I mean, what was soft about him? What was dreamy about him? What was magical about him?

Well, Ali couldn't show the public his soft side. He was a boxer! So, instead, he used his smoke screen (Neptune trine Sun) to intimidate and befuddle his opponents before a fight. Float like a butterfly. Sting like a bee. Go home and play Monopoly with the kids.

See? Moon is in Leo. Is there a role you have to play? Because, these are aspects of an Academy Award.

Venus also meets Neptune via square today at 3:31 PM pitting Gemini against Pisces. Venus in Gemini flits from beautiful thing to beautiful thing admiring the different nectar that each brings forth. The conflict with Pisces is that Venus in Gemini often appreciates beauty on a mental level. Love is a many splendored thing that occurs when your eyes meet something beautiful.

Neptune in Pisces says, “You are missing the real beauty. You are missing the soul connections. You are missing the real love. It's not busy and fickle. It's quiet. Private. And, met on a soul level.”

This square can produce a multitude of different manifestations. You can feel it as a loneliness on a soul level where you are craving love and affection from someone you cannot have. You can feel it as being swept up in the tides of love and never wanting to be rescued. Your money can disappear. The more you drink the better the scenery looks. You can find out your lover has been lying. It can be elating or it can be flattening. But, either way...

Donna Cunningham gives the following example in regard to Neptune square Venus in a natal chart “there’s the socialite with Venus in Capricorn square Neptune in Libra whose 40-year-old lover works 70 hours a week and drinks himself insensible to unwind. He’s out of town on a business trip and forgets her birthday, and he won’t commit to her until he makes his first million. Then he finally makes the million but devastates Ms. Venus-Neptune square when he ups and chooses a 23-year-old trophy wife instead.”

That scenario has a Venus/Neptune signature all over it! BUT, you could also use this aspect for any type of charity work or volunteering to help the down trodden or making money through a Neptunian type of trade such as art, music, water ballet...

Our Leo Moon finds our little drunken Venus via sextile at 5:44 PM. Yeah. There isn't going to be much drive to do any physically taxing or strenuous work. Start bringing that up and watch as people start to disappear. Tomorrow is more supportive of physical labor. Today is more of a contemplation of What Dreams May Come...

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for June 28, 2014

This morning, we wake up to Moon in Cancer. Overnight, she was very busy Moon making a square to Uranus (1:17 AM EDT), trine to Saturn (2:49 AM), square to Mars (3:20 AM) and trine to Chiron (4:10 AM). Her next aspect, a conjunction with Jupiter, isn't until 9 PM tonight.

That means you may be able to see the tiny sliver of the Moon appear next to the Red Giant in the night sky tonight.

Overall, today has the potential to feel good. Yesterday was pretty shaky with the re-ignition of the Mars/Uranus opposition. Those feelings are waning now.

Jupiter can blow emotions out of proportion. That's great if you feel good. Then, you can feel REALLY good. But, if you are low, those feelings could be exacerbated too. Look for wisdom and perspective to help you find a happy medium.

The Sun is moving closer and closer to his trine with Neptune. That perfects overnight at 3:23 AM. This is a softening aspect that has the potential to smooth out or erode some of the brittle edges of your ego. You could melt a little. You may be inclined to cut someone some slack when you otherwise would not. You could pass someone on the street and mistake them for someone else. The lines are blurred a little.

Sun trine Neptune is also a wonderful energy to tap into if you are working on any type of Neptune project such as music or art. It's also great energy to pack with you on a trip to beach, lake or body of water.

Venus is also waxing into aspect with Neptune via square. This perfects tomorrow too. The square is more harsh than the trine we have with the Sun. The trine softens us but there is less chance for delusion. Trines are not forceful.

However, the square is an aspect with tension. There is pressure between the planets involved. Neptune is the higher octave of Venus. In this instance, our little Butterfly Venus in Gemini, may get a little drunk. She may get swept away in a love affair that feels like her dream come true. Or, she could be letting her rose colored glasses fog up a little too much.

On the converse, Neptune square Venus (with Neptune Rx) could make some veils drop HARD in love relationships or in matters of money.

Reach for your grounding to use these Neptune aspects to their highest potential and to avoid being swept away or pummeled under the waves by them. If you can float or spend the weekend near water, you are pretty much set. If you are able to relax and enjoy listening to music or escaping into a good book, also great!

Just be wary that what you are seeing may not be exactly what you are perceiving. Venus is drunk. Mercury, Neptune and Saturn are wobbling backward. Mars and Uranus are recuperating after their standoff and the Moon in Cancer is looking at all these other planets as if they were her wayward children. Take a day off, Mom. Those kids are nuts.

Overall, the waters have the potential to be much more calm. Grab your hematite (and your floaties) and enjoy the drift.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for June 27, 2014

This morning, we wake up to the energy of a brand new Moon (4:10 AM EDT) waxing into a trine with Neptune (7:54 AM). I think Moon to Neptune via trine is blissful. Dreamy.

However, many people don't experience it this way especially if they are not accustomed to Neptune and/or water energy to begin with.

Emotions can roil under watery aspects. But, emotions are nothing to fear. You can direct those waters.

Neptune brings an ethereal gut tug. It is like a pulling from...somewhere. It is almost like a beckoning back to the dark waters of the womb. Or, a beckoning to substances that give you that warm fuzzy feeling...alcohol, intoxicants...

This feeling is different than when Neptune comes thundering on top of vicious waves after you. This is the haunting call from the sea. It is alluring in a way that is hard to put into words.

I have days (particularly around my Lunar Return) where I know it is NOT a good idea for me to step foot in the Ocean. The “pull” tempts me to keep swimming deeper and farther out. At those times, I am a lifeguard's worst nightmare. It's as if something or someone is out there calling to me, “Josi, come home.” And, it is at that moment I understand completely how men traveling on the sea were lured away and never heard from again. I bet they couldn't explain “the pull” either.
A Mermaid lives in my soul by Josi Case (hey, that's me!)
Thankfully (and ironically), I married a man who used to jump out of perfectly good helicopters to save people like me. His Saturn in Cancer (in his 8th) trines my Pisces Moon. If I swim too far, he'll get my attention and remind me of the shore and the fact that I don't really have fins or gills---because sometimes I forget that I don't or really begin to think I do.
Needless to say, I know the feel of Neptune rather well. Doesn't make it any easier to explain. If you feel a pulling at the hollowness of your gut, know this is the King of Seas beckoning to you. It's time to retreat a little. Get quiet. Look inward. Float. Surrender to the tides (which is harder than it sounds).

Today we are in swimming in Cancerian waters. The Sabian for this New Moon is “Game birds feathering their nests.” I tripped over the word “game” when I was researching for this New Moon.

The “Feathering their nest” is already an implied Cancer theme. Where does “game bird” fit into that? Why “game”? Why not just “birds”?
Baby pheasants in their well hidden grassy nest

Game birds are hunted. Sometimes they are hunted for the purpose of eating them. But, not all birds we eat are called “game.”

We are talking quail, dove, ducks, turkey, pheasants. Not robins, blue jays, ravens and cardinals. There is a difference. Is there a difference in how they nest?

I know how non-game birds trees. Right? But, most game birds prefer to build their nests on the ground. They hide in plain sight. A lot of them rarely fly and it isn't because they can't. I've not figured that part out. Maybe they realize that flying makes them more vulnerable to predators. There are far more places to hide on the ground.
Gambel's Quail
Either way, I bet they choose the spot for their nests very carefully. And, if they are laying eggs right now, the spot is probably chosen more carefully than normal because it could mean that their first clutch was destroyed.
Cancer season always brings up the word “family” too. The two go hand-in-hand. As grown ups, we realize we are born into a “family” but eventually “family” becomes something we create either by continuing on with the family we were born into or creating a new family that has little or no blood connection...or both!

In this Sabian, the game birds are preparing a safe spot for their future children to reside. In this New Moon, we are encouraged to do the same or to at least contemplate the concepts of nest, safety, comfort, family, children and protection.

Do you have the inklings of “children” in your future? Projects? Creations? Actual kids? Then this moon is perfect for creating intentions that “Feather the nest” of those creations. In the backs of our minds, we know that game birds (and most mothers) have “protection” and “safety” at the fore. They know predators are out there. The same applies to our creatively made “children” and they, too, deserve our protection and safety.

Plus, there is a deep part of me that believes that everyone deserves to live in a safe and nurturing environment. That isn't reality. And, if you find yourself “living” (literally or metaphorically) in a place that isn't safe or nurturing then now would be a good time to take steps to change that—which, of course, is easier said than done. An intention, though, is a good first step to make (even if the road ahead is unclear and seems terribly terribly long).

At 5:40 PM, the Moon opposes Pluto in Capricorn. Tomorrow, she spends the day in harsh aspect to Uranus (1:17 AM) and Mars (3:20 AM). This combustible energy could make it difficult to sleep tonight. However, tomorrow the Moon also plays nicely with Saturn (trine 2:49 AM) and Chiron (trine 4:10 AM). So, there are tools available to help us navigate the re-activated choppy seas. Act responsibly and with a sober mind and heart. Look for the hurting and drowning and prepare a safe place for them to swim ashore. If you are a member of the sick, hurting or drowning seek refuge in those welcoming feathered nests. Don't keep swimming out in search of the source of Neptune's haunting call. Trust me, you won't find it.

Come back to shore. It's ok. I'll swim right next to you. Neptune is here on the sandy beaches, too. You'll find him playing his tune through our music and dancing in our cups.

Tips for setting New Moon in Cancer Intentions:

Keep wording as clean and simple as possible. If you cannot put it into words, then use a few moments to focus on the “feel” you are wanting. What is the “feeling” you are chasing while you are doing what you are doing?

Write your intentions down or find objects etc to remind you of them throughout the month. Better yet, charge an object or stone with your intention and carry it with you.

Look for the positive and negative qualities of Cancer. We each own some of both. When you recognize the unsavory ones, forgive yourself and find a way to express the energy in way that is more beneficial to you.

With Mercury Rx, it's a GREAT time to look back on past intentions and pick them back up for reinforcement, refinement, rewording, re-institution.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for June 26, 2014

Today, we wake up to a Void Moon in Gemini having just left a conjunction with Mercury Rx at about 8 AM EDT.
The Moon remains Void until entering Cancer at 5:06 PM.
It is a long day of assimilation. The Moon is dark. The nights are still and quiet.

The New Moon in Cancer perfects early in the morning at 4:10 AM EDT. If you are setting intentions, you have a window between 5 PM tonight and 9 PM on Saturday (28th) before the Moon reaches Void status again.

Our Moon will be busy the next few days. She re-activates the Cardinal Cross with Mars still within orb. During our "busy" Moon days, the Sun is waxing into trine with Neptune.
This would be a great weekend to spend time around a lake, ocean, pool or any body of water. I'm craving this right now and know I will give in sooner than later.

But, today, we catch a break. The energy of Mars opposite Uranus is still in force but waning. If you've felt as if you were going to vibrate out of your skin the last few days, then today things may finally start to simmer down a bit.
It is a great day for finishing things up and for wiping the slate clean in preparation for our New Moon.
People may be sensitive, emotional and even recluse and withdrawn. Allow them and yourself space if you need it.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for June 25, 2014

This morning we wake up to Moon in Gemini which can make for a rather interesting day. Mars in Libra perfects in opposition to Uranus in Aries today. Both planets are direct and this is the third pass.

What makes it interesting, though, is the Gemini Moon aspects both of these planets harmoniously. Moon sextiles Uranus in Aries at 2:16 PM. Moon trines Mars in Libra at 2:32 PM.

It would appear that in order to work this overly masculine energy (Mars/Uranus) properly, you need to follow the Moon.

Now. That's irony for you!

Diane the Huntress by Seignac
Truth is, sometimes there are instances when you need to stand up, rush in and fight with everything you have. Sometimes, however, you have to fight smart.
Strategy is one of Libra's strong suits. The shadow of Mars in Libra procrastinates. But, a more positive expression of the same energy is the blessed ability to PAUSE before acting in order to think things through.

Thinking things through can be the point where Mars in Libra gets stuck. This placement can over-rationalize things. But, held at a stable mid-point, this can become the ability to stop just long enough to consider the ramifications of the consequences and the impact of your actions upon others.

Libra knows there are two sides to every coin. And, to fight smart, you have to gauge all the possible reactions to your strategy. You have to gauge how your actions may or may not impact “the other” and you have to be able to predict or at least have an inkling of what “they” are going to do next in order to form a workable strategy. Libra Mars understands, “For every action, there is an equal an opposite reaction.”
Two-face. A batman villian that flips coins to make decisions. AKA when Libra goes wrong

Libra is also a cardinal sign. It does initiate but Mars in Libra can be smart enough to lead YOU into engaging. Almost as if it is was your idea! In aspect to Uranus, this can be the equivalent to gas lighting or catalyzing someone.

No one can trigger you without your permission
The very energy that may “poke” you can also be the energy that helps you keep from getting poked in the first place. Mars in Libra in aspect to Uranus is different than isolating Uranus in Aries alone.

Uranus in Aries prompts us to act independently. This is the TRUE lone wolf.

But, Mars in Libra reminds us that even if our actions are driven from a place of independence, there are still consequences to others to consider. That's the polarity we are looking at here.

What Gemini does is come in and show you all the different ways you can go about doing that. Following the Moon in this instance, we are encouraged to talk things out with our friends, gather information, take things a little more lightly, think it through...move smart (Mars/Uranus).

However, Air DOES fuel fire and we have two elements (Gemini and Libra) of air coming together here (not to mention the modern ruler of our 3rd Air sign, Uranus/Aquarius, is directly involved) with Mars (FIRE!). That means one little spark can be whipped up into a fury if we aren't careful. Either way, the ability to make decisions quickly becomes of vast importance today. And, there is energy out there that will help you do that.

Moon in Gemini also reminds us that our current Moon's ruler is still retrograde. What has your past experience in situations like this taught you? When was the last time you were faced with a confrontation? How did you handle it? Would you change things? Maybe we should re-think our reactions to violence. Maybe it's time to re-write our strategy and start fighting smart. Or, maybe it's time to take what we already know and engage our higher minds to find a better way to deal with criminal violence and aggression (anger/frustration) in general.

The last aspect of the day occurs when the Moon meets Chiron in Pisces via square at 5:12 PM. This can be an elusive yet painful reminder of something. Chiron in Pisces is the wound that can cause a feeling of disconnectedness from the Divine or from society in general. Or, someone could acutely feel pain due to our current state of division.

Aquarius (the sign under Uranus' modern rulership) and Libra (where Mars is) both encourage coming together either through relationship or through friendships and community. However, Aries is very much a stand alone entity. This is independent drive (Uranus in Aries) and the ability to be internally motivated at its finest but it's butting heads with “what THEY are doing” or “what THEY may think about what you do” or “how this action might affect them” (Mars in Libra). Our drive is placed in “partnering” right now. But, at the same time, there is steerage toward independence and freedom of movement being brought forth from Uranus in Aries that makes the whole situation paradoxical.

How do you move independently while working in partnerships or groups? Well, that's a big question for everyone to ponder right now.

It's an essential one to answer for yourself too because it's an imperative lesson of the NN in Libra.

Mid-degree planets in Leo and Sagittarius also aspect this opposition nicely. Who are you (Leo)? What do you believe in (Sagittarius)? How do you feel about what you “know” and the company you are keeping these days (Moon in Gemini)? Do you realize that, yes, you can think and act independently but only a selfish asshole does it without considering the impact on others when doing so. There's a balance to be struck here. Answering these questions posed to us today from the current planetary (and luminary) positions could help us deal with any thing unexpected that pops up. But mostly...we may need a BIG dose of patience.
The following are articles I've written that also address Mars in Libra and Uranus in Aries

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for June 24 2014

With good friends and on a boat. That's the ideal way to spend this day.

This morning we wake up to Moon having just crossed over into Gemini (7:06 AM EDT). As soon as she enters the sign, she begins closing in on a square to Neptune Rx. This doesn't perfect until much later tonight (9:30 PM) but the feel of it does overlay the day.

The extremes can range from being really, really, drunk and disillusioned to being faced with the stark reality of veil dropping and completely sobering up. Most people fall in the middle. You may feel more sleepy than normal. You may feel like things are just kind of foggy or not as clear today. You may be a little weepy. You could watch a movie (Gemini) that makes you cry (Neptune).

Before any of that happens, though, Moon meets up with Venus at 9:27 AM. That is a really pleasant aspect to have going on I don't care what sign it falls in. Moon plus Venus is a wonderful opportunity for bliss and relaxation. It can also make you lazy. Some days, I'm all for giving in to that. I think there are some days when we should. Everyone needs to play hooky every now and then just for the heck of it.

Mars perfects in opposition to Uranus tomorrow. With this Neptune square waxing into Venus and perfecting with the Moon today, there may be a busy social but laid back atmosphere today. There will be some who are caught off guard or completely passed over by the lightning bolts of Mars/Uranus. There are some who will be throwing bolts and will take advantage of this relaxed and easy time period to prepare for that.

But, back on point...good friend (Venus/Moon conjunct in Gemini) on a boat (because that keeps Neptune happy), that would be an ideal way to spend this energy. Or, on a beach. Or by a pool. There are plenty of options.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for June 23, 2014

Staring down the barrel of this week, things look manageable. The Moon is darkening. Emotions are held tightly to our chests. Many have withdrawn. Turned inward. Some...are stewing. For most, patience is in short supply particularly midweek.

Today, we wake up to Moon in Taurus opposite Saturn in Scorpio (6:59 AM EDT). If you are a 9-5'er this aspect can hit you like a THUD as you realize it is, indeed, the start of a new work week.

The best way for me to handle energy like this is to just work through it. When in doubt, work. When in default, work. Doesn't matter WHAT I work on as long as it is work.

I feel (Moon) better when I work (Saturn) during a Saturn Moon transit. I look for the grounding and stable feelings of Moon/Saturn. It is a wonderful time for working with your hands on anything stone, wood or earthy. Pottery. Sculpting. Carving. Tile. Tangibly working with Earth materials will help direct this energy as well.

At about the same time the Moon opposes Saturn, it also moves into sextile with Chiron. Once this occurs, the Moon-Saturn opposition will put a ripple in the separating water trine between Jupiter, Chiron and Saturn creating a Kite with Moon at the apex. Feed this moon. Feed it well. Find what it needs and then find something that you can share with her that is also compatible with your own moon. Chiron and Jupiter are your support legs here. Lean on healing instead of hurting. Perspective. Wisdom.

The bigger news and what is more than likely going to felt will be Venus' entrance into Gemini. This occurs at 8:34 AM. Venus rules our current Moon. And, if you haven't noticed, our current Moon is rather busy already today.

Venus changes when she moves from Taurus to Gemini. In Taurus, she is solid, Earthy, voluptuous, comfortable, tangibly pleasing...smooth. Sturdy. When she was in trine with Pluto, she was smooth like dark rich creamy chocolate.

In Gemini, Venus starts to morph into a butterfly. She no longer sleeps leisurely in one place. Butterflies flit from one beautiful flower to another enjoying the nectar of each equally. They are very busy and light creatures.

Butterflies also live in the “right now”. They have no choice. There is so much to enjoy and so very little time. Venus in Gemini cannot spend much time worrying about the past or future (unless she is in aspect to something else). To Venus in Gemini, time is precious...every blessed drop of it. Time could end at any second and she might miss something! Cars are precious too. And, the latest iPhone and this relationship is FUN but so is this one and this one and...

From gorgeous flower top to gorgeous flower top, our little Venus in Gemini butterfly flits, drinks, enjoys and moves on.

Venus in Taurus only needs one perfect river bank to rest upon. That's enough. But, Venus in Gemini wants to learn about all the river banks.

Today's Moon occupies the spot where Venus once opposed Saturn and sat at the top of her own kite. The Moon waves to Venus from this peak and wishes her friend a fond farewell and looks forward to meeting up with her again soon.

Today and tomorrow embody a magical swirling and changing energy. Neptune is awakening. He remembers Venus. They too will meet again soon. But, he will meet her cohort, the Moon, first (6/24). Though Venus will be nearby. Neptune will both construct veils around her and subsequently rip them away.

As Neptune is busy casting his spell upon our hearts and emotions, lightning strikes right through the axis of our relationships as Mars in opposition to Uranus perfects on Wednesday. Some will be suddenly awakened from a dreamlike drifty state. Others will be awake and waiting because they've already been given a new version of the stark reality. Now, they wait for the backlash.

At the end of the week, we have the opportunity to make a brand new start through a New Moon in Cancer that is being pumped with power from all sides.

Your “low tide days” are Monday and Tuesday. The rest of the week is powerful with some potentially surprising or unexpected turn-a-bouts. It will be interesting to say the least. At the same time, it can also be a chance to really turn things around or start drafting a brand new chapter. That sounds pretty promising to me. If a tower falls, grieve its passage. But, never forget your ability to build brand new towers.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for June 22 2014

I love Moon in Taurus. I really do. As a matter of fact, I have a real affinity for people who have placements in Taurus. Personally, I have nothing in the sign. For a long time, I thought that was the reason that I liked the energy so much—it is unfamiliar to me. Overtime, though, I figured out that placements in early Taurus both sextile my Moon and create a nice grand trine in Earth with my Jupiter in Capricorn and Venus in Virgo. Something like that is a BIG welcomed gift to anyone with a Neptune moon like mine.

At times when the Moon is in early Taurus, I feel very grounded, stable and blessed. The trine from anything in Taurus to my Venus is pretty much in force no matter where the Moon falls or where the person's planet in Taurus falls in synastry. My Venus is right in the middle of Virgo catching aspects from Taurus on either side.

Aside from all of that, I also have Mercury in Scorpio. So, when the Moon is in Taurus, I catch an opposition to that point. Plus, Taurus rules my 3rd house. That means, it's good for talking/communicating in 2 ways for me (Mercury and 3rd house). In case you haven't noticed, I talk/communicate A LOT.
Taurus, you complete me.

Plus, my chart has Venus all over it. Venus rules over the fields of Taurus. I understand that territory.

So, yeah, I've learned that this energy (Moon in Taurus) feels good to me. Because of that, I get all gushy and excited and show favoritism for the sign (since I really am all human and stuff). I really do try to keep all that in mind before I go spouting off wonderful predictions for a Taurus Moon all over my blog.

When I started formulating what I wanted to say about today, I did a gut check to see if I wasn't just all excited because it was a Taurus Moon and I play favorites. I don't think that is the case. I really think today looks really sweet.

This morning, in case you have yet to guess, we wake up with the Moon in Taurus.

Overnight, our new little Cow Moon waved across the zodiac at our new little Cancer Sun. The Sun waved back. They like each other! This sextile occurred twenty minutes after midnight EDT.

That aspect set last night up to be quite smooth. It was likely a good for catching up on any lost sleep.

The moon leaves this sextile as the Sun rises on the East Coast and moves in toward another sextile. This time she waves at Neptune in Pisces, right after lunch (12:57 PM). This aspect is such a sweet mixture of water and earth. Not too dry. Not too soggy. Just. Right.

Then, tonight, Moon dances with her dark lover, Pluto in Capricorn. The Sun fades and it gets dark. Velvety sweet dark. Yeah, look forward to sinking into that!

That sounds like the ingredients for a good day to me. Good food. Good grief, DON'T forget the food! Good friends. Nothing too heavy or dramatic. Did I mention I love Moon in Taurus?

Because, I do.

And, after today, you might too!
(or, if you pay attention to the Moon and how it affects you, you could also find your own "sweet" spot)

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for June 21 2014

Today we wake up to Sun in Cancer! Happy Solar Return to all the Crabs out there!
Artwork by Josephine Wall

Astrologically, there is a chance for today to feel like a cakewalk. The skies are quiet for the time being.

The Moon is still in Aries and she will square Jupiter in Cancer at around midday (1:14 PM EDT). There is a chance here to blow emotions out of proportion. But, as long as you can keep things in perspective, this is no serious bump in the road.

From here the Moon makes a pleasant sextile with Mercury at 6:30 PM. After that, she is Void until entering Taurus at 11 PM tonight.

Today is good for anything. Really. The storms have passed, for now. I plan to get myself to the grocery store to prepare for the Taurus Moon.

What do you have on tap for today?

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for June 20, 2014

If you are looking for a big long dissertation about the planets, you are in the wrong place today :) However, I will let you know that we wake up to Moon in Aries this morning. She is a VERY busy bee. Following is a list of the aspects she makes throughout the day. After that, you will find links to previous blogs where I give tips about how to use this energy (if you feel like you can sit still long enough to read all that.

Lunar Aspects:

Moon square Pluto 3:40 PM EDT

Moon opposite Mars 7:25 PM

Moon conjunct Uranus 9:55 PM might be a good idea
to get out there and move if you are able to.

Happy Aries Moon!

Practical advice for the incoming Aries Moon and Mars opposite Uranus

As the Moon passes through Aries tomorrow, it will prematurely activate the waxing opposition between Mars in Libra and Uranus in Aries. The Moon “bridges the gap” between these two planets The energy that will come from the exact opposition will be alluded to. The opposition is exact on June 25th at 16 degrees 31 minutes on the Aries/Libra axis.

If you have been reading my blog the last few days, you may have noticed I've been cryptically talking about an incoming storm. The Moon's passage through the opposition over the weekend is what I'm referring to.

Today, the Moon will move from Pisces to Aries. Moods will shift. But, it is likely that it really won't be felt until tomorrow morning. What you may notice is a lot of nervous energy tomorrow. In that, it could be hard to sit still. If you have any desk work that you can get out of the way today so that you can spend tomorrow being active, that will really help.

I also advise that you cut your caffeine and stimulant intake drastically by noon today. The reason for that is it may be hard to get to sleep tonight. Any type of nervous energy producing thing will have an increased effect. Of course, you have to bear in mind there how these things normally effect you.

If you have an idiosyncratic response, such as stimulating substances make you sleepy, that may occur too. It is also entirely possible, if you are prone to such things, that your energy levels may actually be really LOW during this passage of the Moon.

If you regularly sleep during the day and stay up all night, know that this energy will STILL be here late day tomorrow. So, adjust stuff accordingly. Same applies to you night owls out there. This is poking at us through at least Monday.

If you have anything physical that you need to get done, the Universe is going to support you tremendously in that for the next few days. Typically, this energy is very stimulating and works very precisely and quickly when directed. Good activities to contemplate for the weekend involve anything that has you outdoors and moving around. Outdoors is important because that enhances your grounding which is quite beneficial when dealing with Mars/Uranus. Moving around is important because it allows you to expend this self-generating, nervous, compulsive energy.

The Moon is still waning. Any clutter removing projects that you have on your back burner fit well with this energy moving in too. Clearing out and purging is highlighted under a waning Moon. And, Mars/Uranus functions best in a simple, low maintenance and uncluttered environment. “Surgical” sterile environment is actually best but who the heck can maintain that? You know?

Grounding is what makes the difference between Mars/Uranus manifesting erratically, impulsively, needlessly rebelliously and compulsively. Being well grounded helps to manifest the energy so that it is precise, surgical, exacting, a little mechanical (which is better than maniacal), inventive, genius movement and more.

Understanding how the energy actually affects YOU (as in paying attention while the Moon is here) will be key. That way, you will know more about what to expect (for yourself AND others) as the energy continues to build to perfection.

Here is a link to a previous post written to address the first two passages of Mars in opposition to Uranus. It contains additional information on what this energy is like.

All that being said, know that there are sometimes things that happen in an instant. Sometimes these things are wild and unpredictable. There is potential for things like this to break loose under this energy. Know you have NO control over that.

The only thing you have control over is yourself and how you respond to what happens. There may be instances in the next few days where you have to react suddenly and swiftly. This energy will support you in that. The KEY will be being grounded enough to know what things NEED an immediate and emergent response and which things do not. You could very well be prone to “feel” that fight or flight response (Adrenaline) EVEN WITHOUT A TRULY EMERGENT EVENT IN PLACE. See?

We are talking about energy here. Mars/Uranus can be the energy behind someone blowing up an abortion clinic vs someone who raises money to back an organization that supports young mothers. The difference lies in the way that energy is directed and the person directing it.

It's important to know, I think. Because, even if you don't feel this, the guy sitting on the bus seat next to you might...your spouse might...your boss might. There again, you can't do anything in the way of controlling what happens outside of you. But, Mars/Uranus' at some of its highest expression is to act (Mars) independently (Uranus), which equates to being in control of you.

Practical tips:

Gardening: great time to really take a stance against those weeds. Also a great time for removing things like suckers or pruning.

Office work: If you work 9-5 behind a desk while this energy is in force definitely mind the stuff I said about stimulants. Allow yourself breaks to get up and move. Ideally you won't have to sit still during this transit. But, the reality is that some people have to. You can still get a brilliant amount of work done but you could be rather grumpy and snappy about it. Set your evening time for something active to burn some of that off.

Health: Headaches are kind of a hallmark with Mars and an Aries Moon. Avoid any known triggers of headaches that you are aware of. Have your typical headache remedies at hand and allow for plenty of time to rest if you need to.

Food: The more pure your diet is the better off any health issues will be. Look to raw veggies and food that brings you “Grounding” while steering away from heavy stuff. Some people enjoy spicy foods during these transits and that's cool if you can tolerate it normally. Overall, aim for simplistic, light and energy sustaining. Protein. Raw fruit and veggies. Low carb.

Sleep: Good luck. LOL, seriously, meditation and stepping down the stimulants while minding your diet will help. Grounding will help as well. But, overall, I do expect sleep patterns to be a bit erratic increasing the irritability factor. Bear that in mind and give yourself and others space.

Activities: Anything that has you up and expending energy. Anything that involves quick reflexes. Dancing...always a good thing to do. Do something in the name of a social cause. This polarity (Aries/Libra) is great for that. Organizations and networks are highlighted. Social causes and charities come to the fore. Any efforts taken in those directions are great expenditures of this energy as well.

Demolition. If you have something that needs torn up or torn you go

Breakups. You'll likely hear of some of these and they probably won't be expected. So, if you are looking for an “exit” the sign will be BLARING AT YOUR FACE AND you could get impulses of NOW! BREAK FREE! GO! Yeah, and you could end up on the other side of that too. Remember: Don't react to a temporary emotion (because most of them are) by blowing up your life. But...if you NEED to do that then... Everything that I've just mentioned will help you better able to tell the difference.

What about the weather? We could see some electrical storms from this. Some things could explode or erupt. Guess what. That potential exists everyday :)

Stones that may help:

Any of your grounding stones—hematite, tiger's eye, obsidian

TOURMALINE If I could suggest one stone for this transit that would be it.

I would suggest steering clear of the stones that increase psychic energy or intuition unless you are working on that specifically. If you are empathic you, of course are going to feel this much more acutely. So, unless you NEED the energy, don't turn the volume up on it.

Lapis Lazuli is also a good choice along with any of your Ambers or darker reddish brown stones.
