Morning Star: Daily Astrology for May 19, 2014

This morning, we wake up to Moon in Aquarius. The emotional waters are held at bay and our emotional intelligence increases even if ever so slightly.

Aquarius-Josephine Wall

There are a couple of things that are definitely worth mentioning today. First, it is the last day of Sun in Taurus. The Sun will enter Gemini tomorrow at 11 PM EDT. It is also our last day of Mars Retrograde in Libra! Mars stations direct at 9 PM tonight at 9 degrees.

We do not have to worry about another Mars Retrograde period until April 2016 when Mars begins backing up from Sagittarius to Scorpio.

We will get a chance to “check in” with Mars when he stations tonight. The Moon will be at 9 degrees Aquarius and trining Mars as he turns around.

You know, that's a lot of 9's (at least in this time zone). In Tarot, 9's signal the final push needed to see something through to completion. In each nine, there is a lone figure. The Nine of Cups features an apparently satisfied cherubic like man happily surrounded by 9 nicely lined up cups. The Nine of Swords features a lone woman surrounded by swords in a nightmare-like scene.

The 9 of Pentacles shows a woman surrounded by the fruits of her labor. And, even though the 9 of Wands character is backed by troops, he is spotlighted as being the only one in charge of the decision making in regard to moving forward. The Hermit is card number Nine and he is one of the most solitary figures in Tarot---looking inward for information or perhaps on spiritual retreat from society. Either way, there is a pause in the 9's that gives rise to an opportunity for personal reflection before moving forward.

With the Moon in Aquarius today, we do have the energy to intelligently introspect and review what has transpired since Mars turned retrograde. Did you experience role reversals in your relationships? If so, are you better able to understand the other person's point of view? For better or worse?

Were you placed in situations where you had to evaluate or change your methods of engagement in relationships? Were your ambitions thwarted and you had to change your course of action? Did you fight with or struggle against trying to move forward and consistently ended up getting knocked down?

All of these experiences are points that should bring forth personal reflection upon motives, drives, aggression vs assertiveness, the places where you procrastinate and are passive-aggressive, the way we are motivated or detracted by the actions of others and more. There is ample opportunity to learn from these Mars Rx encounters. Don't let the struggle occur in vain. Take away something you can use as we move forward.

I suspect it will be a day of introversion and contemplation particularly surrounding how to put your best foot forward in a myriad of situations. Step wisely rather than impulsively.
