Morning Star: Daily Astrology for May 31 2014

This morning we wake up to Moon in tense square to Mars in Libra. There may be too many options to choose from. Too much ambivalence makes the Cancer Moon nervous. Crabs don't come out of their hiding places unless they know it is safe. This feels shaky and not safe.

Hey Mister! Is this your circus? Are those your clowns?

However, our Gemini Sun is all for multiple options (trine Mars at 4:01 AM)...and juggling. Have you ever asked yourself, “What would so and so do?” Well, ask instead what would YOU do or what would you recommend for a friend to do if they were in a similar situation?

Don't fool yourself. Kite Fighting can get vicious!
If you have planets in early Aquarius in your natal chart, you catch a Kite today formed between whatever you have around 5-15 degrees Aquarius, Sun in Gemini, Mars in Libra and Uranus in Aries. Kites are a Grand Trine with an opposition running right through it. One of the planets in the opposition needs to be anchored in the Trine. In this instance (For you early Aqua's), that opposition is Mars and Uranus in combination with a Grand Trine in Air. The Fire (Uranus) brings just enough oomph to the Air Trine for you to put it to good use. Often trines are taken for granted and not put to good use because their affects are not forced upon us. They are a tool that we have to choose to employ...our hands are not forced. However, there is just enough tension in a Kite to have us reaching over to pick up those tools.

You are going to feel Mars in square to Pluto and in opposition to Uranus today. The Moon will move in and bridge those gaps between the War Lord and our busy outer planets and bring the power from the now separating Cardinal Cross back into force momentarily--almost like an echo with a bit of foreshadowing.
The tension from this overlays the day. But, it is not an unfamiliar tension. Consider it an emotional preview of what Mars in perfect square to Pluto and Mars in perfect opposition to Uranus may bring your way. We are approaching his third and final passage through here. Lessons will be sealed.

I've scoured through the Astrology of June. It appears as if we will be hitting some seriously high emotional tides—each of which are followed by a period of incorporation. Think ebb and flow here. If you can plug into those tides and follow them, you'll be better off in the long run.
Of course, this calls for getting in touch with your own emotional body. As a water child, I don't find that to be such a big deal. For some, though, this is definitely a task.
Horse surfing anyone?

The blending of Water and Earth elements in June is EXTREMELY comforting. Water and Earth do create mud, though. You can't be afraid to get dirty.

June fluctuates like the colorful tumblers inside a kaleidoscope. Less optimistic people would say it looks more like churning muddy water. I say it is an ever changing emotional landscape where Kites flicker in and out with the passage of the Moon through the zodiac. Earth Moons activate the Grand Water Trine between Chiron, Jupiter and Saturn. Moon in Virgo, specifically, completes an Earth Trine between Pluto/Venus/Moon while activating a kite when in opposition to Chiron and in sextile to our other two water bodies (Jupiter/Saturn). Loosely translated, if you have a mid-degree Water or Earth Moon you are going to be plugged into this FOR SURE (and that's pretty sweet). 17 degrees becomes a HOT topic this month.

As Venus in Taurus moves into opposition with Saturn, another kite appears and stays in force longer than the quickly moving Moon. And, there is Mercury in Retrograde (June 7) and Neptune Retrograde (June 9)--each bringing in a whole different set of things.
Venus Kite. You cannot make this stuff up

As the Moon moves through Cancer today, it creates a Kite by opposing Pluto (11:56 AM). The opposition of Moon to Pluto puts enough tension on the Water Trine (Saturn/Jupiter/Chiron) so that we are prompted to work with it. Here's how the Moon's passage lays out today:
Moon square Mars 5:30 AM EDT 9 Cancer/Libra
Moon opposite Pluto 11:56 13 04 Cancer/Libra
Moon square Uranus 4:43 PM
Moon trine Chiron 8:53 PM
Moon trine Saturn 10:40 PM

SPLASH LANDING! NEXT TIME I'M GOING FOR THE CANNONBALL...

So we leave May on the crest of a tidal wave and surf right into the first day of June. Use the tension of the re-activated Cardinal Cross today to your benefit. Use it for fuel on your forward moving trip...because we are all moving forward...right? When I talk about emotions peaking and then flowing with a long period of contemplation following, THIS would be a peaking emotional day. Adjust your sails as per appropriate. Tomorrow is your “emotional incorporation day” since the Moon is Void from 2:33 AM tomorrow until 9 PM tomorrow night. See what I mean? Ebb and flow...up and down. We may need some Dramamine...

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for May 30, 2014

The Moon enters Cancer this morning at 10:14 AM ending the long VOC Moon day that was yesterday.

At around noon, the Moon finds Mercury in Cancer. This can be spoken information that impacts you on an emotional level. Or, it can be information that comes to you in the form of a memory or through intuition. Either way, you feel it for better or worse.

But, you are supported through whatever this information brings with the solidness of a sextile from Venus in Taurus (2:04 PM). Brains are shaky right now. But, hearts are steady.

Moon conjunct Mercury in Cancer "Phone Home"
The rest of the day is spent with the Moon waxing toward a trine with Neptune in Pisces. We currently have 6 bodies in Water--Neptune and Chiron in Pisces, Jupiter, Moon and Mercury in Cancer and Saturn in Scorpio. However, there is land and solid footing to be had with Venus in Taurus and Saturn involved via trine with 2 of our aqueous placements (Jupiter in Cancer and Chiron in Pisces). Imagine that. Solid footing in a Water Trine. We may float. But, this may be just enough to keep us anchored so we don't float completely away.

Today would be a good day to surround yourself with comfort. Add some plush new pillows to your couch or bed. Indulge in comfort food. Laze around (Venus in Taurus) on the water somewhere or in a boat (Mercury in Cancer trine Neptune). Invite your friends, too! Sun is still in Gemini!

It is the weekend! Relax. Unwind. Find your happy place and enjoy!

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for May 29, 2014

Venus is officially in Taurus. To me, this is a solidly smooth Venus placement. Tangible Earthly Pleasures take center stage...like Chocolate. How appropriate was it for a Venus in Taurus native to star in this movie--not to mention Depp (who has Mercury and Venus in Taurus) also starred as Willy Wonka (who ran a Chocolate Factory).

The original Willy Wonka, Gene Wilder had Mercury/Venus conjunct
in the 2nd house (Taurus ruled) in Cancer.

And, Mercury is officially in Cancer as of 5:12 AM. Time to get out the recipe book or start thinking about collecting and swapping kitchen tricks. Also, get ready for the nostalgia.

There is an intuitive "knowing" with Mercury in Cancer. Problem is, Mercury is in his shadow and will turn Rx when he reaches 3 degrees of Cancer. Plus, he is in a loose trine with Neptune in Pisces---more intuitive knowing. What this can do is cause sentiment/emotion to practically drip from someone's lips as they speak. Conversations become less light and chatty and more nurturing...softer, more compassionate and filled with empathy.

The placement must resonate with Prince Charles. Both of his wives had Mercury in Cancer. Charles has Mercury in Scorpio which would hit Cancer placements via trine. Besides, Cancer and Scorpio can become a bit fascinated with one another really quickly.

Diana had both Mercury in Cancer and Venus in Taurus. Her "presence" speaks well of both placements.

As for our Moon, she is still in Gemini having just passed from a sextile with Uranus in Aries at 6 AM. She is now Void until entering Cancer at 10:14 AM tomorrow.

This is one of those "incorporation days" where we consider all that has happened, assimilate it and then attempt to move forward. It is likely to be quiet. Mercury in Cancer is not particularly chatty. But, overall, the day feels like it has smooooth potential written all over it.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for May 28, 2014

Moon entered Gemini just after midnight. Yesterday, I discovered THE BEST way to work with a VOC Moon in Taurus. I've heard “nothing will come of something begun under a Void Moon.” So, best use I found was to have strawberry shortcake for dinner last night. VOC Moons make that stuff basically calorie free. Right?

It was good too. Given that its been about two years since I have been able to eat strawberries, I'm going to have to back up and say, “It wasn't just good. It was glorious.”

The Moon is certainly not Void today. As a matter of fact, planetary aspect and movement-wise, it's pretty busy up there. I hope everyone had a good breakfast.

First we wake up to the perfection of Mercury in Gemini sextile Venus in Aries. If you read the blog yesterday, you know the two are getting ready to jump ship into new signs. Venus enters Taurus today at 9:46 PM. Then Mercury moves into Cancer (and further into his shadow) at 5:12 AM tomorrow.

Right now, the New Moon in Gemini is waxing in. It is set for perfection at 2:40 PM. If you need tips on setting intentions, check out yesterday's blog.

Both Sun and Moon are also perfecting in square to Neptune in Pisces. The Moon will reach her square first and this occurs at 3:03 PM. People. Please be gentle with yourselves. Moon square Neptune can be elusively emotional. You could become susceptible to the emotions of people around you. Don't forget all the grounding techniques I preach about when we have heavy Neptune aspects like we have today. Drink more water. Decrease the intake of sugars and stimulants. Spend time in or around water. Get outside. Touch the Earth. HEMATITE. HEMATITE. HEMATITE!

At about 7 PM the Moon meets up with Mars via trine. We are able to act on our emotions. It's up to us to decide whether we do or not. It is also up to us to determine HOW we act on those. Either way, doing so is supported in the sky.

Finally, at 7:43 PM the Sun perfects in square to Neptune.

Two planets switching signs. A new Moon. And, our luminaries both in square to Neptune. This is not a stable day. Things are changing. It could get confusing and emotional.

The cure for that? Sagittarius and Virgo energy. Sagittarius and Virgo energy completes a mutable cross with Sun/Moon and Neptune. Engage Sagittarius for perspective and wisdom. Engage Virgo for helping others who may be swamped with this Neptune business, sort through the chaos and to ground. Reach out to Saturn in Scorpio as well. He is often the antidote to Neptune. Call these folks up today or just plea to their archetypes.

Be light on your feet and flexible in order to deal best with this day. Allow time for rest and quiet time away from the chatter. With Sun and Moon both in Gemini and Mercury lingering there as well, there will be chatter. As Neptune waxes in, it could all become too much. Or, the room could fall ghastly quiet as the waves move in. BE EASY WITH YOURSELF! You are sensitive. So are the people around you. Your emotional body needs your attention today. Also, whenever the Ocean and Neptune are involved, you really have to ask yourself, "What would Jimmy Buffet do?"

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for May 27, 2014

Today is a quietly buoyant day. This morning, we wake up to Moon still in Taurus but void having just left a sextile with Jupiter in Cancer at 5:10 AM EDT.

Moon is Void ALL day until she enters Gemini just after Midnight.

This is a good day to do one final sweep, clearing out, purging (physically or emotionally) prior to getting ready to set our intentions for the New Moon on Thursday.

The New Moon occurs at 7 21 of Gemini. My first thought when looking at the degree/minute is “Oh, those are lucky numbers!” My second thought is, “Hmmm, isn't Neptune at 7 Pisces?”

Yep. It sure is. This New Moon is nearly exact in square to Neptune. The square from Moon to Neptune occurs at 3:03 PM tomorrow—mere minutes after the perfection of the New Moon.

The next thing that stands out to me is that Venus and Mercury are still in sextile and both are getting ready to jump into new signs. This New Moon marks the end of the passage of Mercury through Gemini and Venus in Aries.

Mercury, who rules the New Moon, is currently in his retrograde shadow. When he dives into Cancer, it may feel like you are zipping along on a speedy motorboat and then stop suddenly. If you have ever been zipping along on a speedy motorboat, you know what it feels like when you stop suddenly. It's not like slamming your brakes on in a car. It's more of a slow drag/slosh and even then you don't come to a complete stop. You still drift a bit.

With the shift of Venus from Aries to Taurus, we stop some of the ambitious pursuit of what we want and focus more on what we have.

Still yet, Venus and Mercury are holding hands getting ready to jump together. One will land on Earth. The other will land in Water. One will be steady and dependable (albeit a bit stubborn). The other will be hard to pin down. Information/communication will change from fickle and chatty to watery and colored with intuition. AND WONKY—we are approaching a Mercury retrograde. The first part of which will be quite nostalgic (in Cancer) and the second part of which we will have an opportunity to re-wire some of those memories or adjust the way we think about them.

Venus enters Taurus on May 28th and Mercury enters Cancer on May 29th.

In the meantime, if you set intentions for the New Moon, you are going to want to ground beforehand. The square to Neptune demands that. Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to pay homage to the Great Sea King by bringing in water or ocean elements to your altar. You can go all out and even have the whistles of Orcas and Dolphins singing in the background.

It's so easy to disregard Neptune. He is often forgotten. But, that doesn't mean that he isn't out there doing his job which very often means making things nebulous and confusing. Grounding and specifically inviting Neptune into your intention setting ritual may keep some of the confusion at bay. Head slowly into the fog. Let the mist shape and form around you. Allow yourself to be a bit lost in the ethers. But, bring some grounding activities with you-- a trail of breadcrumbs if you will. This way, you can find your way back out. Nevermind. You'll forget the breadcrumbs. I already know.

Sun and Moon also find Mars in Libra via trine during the New Moon. Black Moon Lilith in Leo hits a sextile between each. Mars and BML together create a yod with Neptune at the apex. BML is wild and unihibited. In Leo, she gets center stage.

Mars in Libra has finished his retrograde and is still hovering over his stationary degree. He will leave this degree soon and he will leave the inconjunct to Neptune behind him as well. This, for Mars, is a time of integration and sorting through the chaos that occurred while he was retrograde. Neptune tells us that confusion seeps into an area of your life because that area needs definition or re-definition. Motives, energy and drives are befuddled right now as we sort through all we encountered during the retrograde. This New Moon marks the ending of that befuddlement, too. Neptune stations retrograde on June 9.

Every new beginning is some beginning's end. In this instance, we have at least 4 endings marking the opportunity to set intentions for 4 new beginnings. Where are Mars, Venus and Mercury transiting your chart? You can set intentions at this New Moon stating how you would best like to work with these planets moving forward.

How would you like to work with Venus in Taurus? How will it impact your chart? How would you like to work with Mercury in Cancer and the upcoming retrograde? How will that impact your chart? How would you like to handle this third and final direct passage of Mars in Libra?

How can you work with Neptune Retrograde? Fish while standing backward? Or, BE the fish and cast out of the water trying to catch a land dweller.

For Mars in Libra, look to what became prominent in the retrograde. You were surely shown modes of operation that are no longer effective. Now is the time to change how you operate in relationships for both the betterment of your own life and to improve your interactions with others.

The New Moon is in Gemini. Gemini rules the 3rd house—thinking, socializing, communicating, siblings---The Twins. Writing. With Neptune involved and deliberate intention, it could be magical writing or a work of fiction. If you are an author, this would be an excellent Moon to begin writing a fiction novel.

If you are NOT an author, you can still dream up (Neptune) how you would like the rest of your life to go. You can write (Mercury/3rd house) the story of your “life-to be.” What does that future self that you want to be look like? Write it out. Describe it. Give yourself a mutable template (changeable according to your whim) of who you want to be and how you want to live your life. Begin at the beginning—which would be NOW.

Chances are there have been some areas of your life that have been obliterated or changed completely after April. Decide how you would like to fill those now empty pages.

With BML involved, the Universe is encouraging you to go all out with this. Let your imagination run wild write or speak of the life you dream of. If you are already living that life, rejoice and keep dictating how the future will look like. Aim for the Moon, land in the stars. I dare you to dream. Start a conversation (New Moon in Gemini) with your soul (Neptune).

The pen is truly mightier than the sword

The Sabian for 8 Gemini is “An industrial strike”

Blain Bovee says the theme is “Enough.” And, indeed, you may very well find yourself at that point of “enough is enough” these days. Call a halt to the things in your life you have had enough of and write in your own storyline.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for May 26, 2014

Today is all about grit, tenacity and momentum.

We wake up to Moon in Taurus waxing into trine with Pluto in Capricorn which perfects around 5:30 PM. Whatever you need to get done, you CAN get it done if you can talk yourself into taking that first step. That will be the hardest—switching momentum from being stationary to being mobile. But, once you get your cow hooves moving, you can tackle about anything.

At the end of the day, the Moon waxes into sextile with Chiron in Pisces (1:28 AM on the 27th) and an opposition with Saturn in Scorpio (3:54 AM on the 27th). You'll be whipping up on yourself if you don't put the Earth trine to good use especially if you have a Saturn heavy chart to begin with.

For a large portion of the US, today is a holiday. Meaning, lots of people have a long weekend. Where are those projects you wanted to catch up on? Or are you planning a cookout with family and friends?

Either way you are headed (even if it is straight to the couch), the tools are out there to help you make your venture successful.

Venus in Aries currently rules our Taurus Moon and Libra Mars. You can go after what you want (Venus in Aries), no matter what that is. You can call in help from the other (Libra Mars) to make it happen (which is COOL as long as you plan on doing YOUR part of the work!) Mind that Mars in Libra is still in that funky inconjunt with Neptune. Ground! Standard cautions apply.

So whatever you want to do, head down and go straight for it. It's entirely up to you to find the motivation to take that first step...or not. We could just have cake (but then again, SOMEONE has to bake it!)

Art Sunday: Paul Gauguin and Mars square Pluto

In my research about Gauguin, I found one sentence that summed up his work/chart/life rather succinctly. The quote was found here and states, “Paul Gauguin was a self-pitying (Moon/Neptune) pedarest (Mars/Pluto), wife beater (Mars/Pluto) who also was a great artist.”

Yep. That pretty much sums it up.

Te Faruru-Gauguin

Gauguin's life definitely shows us just exactly what the shadow of Mars/Pluto can look like. It also shows us how catalytic symbolism (Uranus conjunct Pluto in Aries) can be particularly when it involves the shadow side of religion (Jupiter in Cancer square Uranus/Pluto in Aries).
The Yellow Christ-Gaughin

Gauguin died of syphilis before being able to serve a prison sentence that was enforced by a Polynesian church after they were outraged by a series of memoirs he had written about his life in Tahiti. Jupiter in Cancer = the religious doctrines of the homeland vs Mars in Leo (active artistry) square Pluto/Uranus in Aries = one man's (Aries) creation that evokes catalyzing (Uranus) symbolism (Pluto).

Symbolism was of great importance to Gauguin. He even became severely depressed and attempted to commit suicide in his later life due to the fact that he felt current European art trends lacked symbolic depth.

“Where do we come from” is one of Gauguin's more well known Tahitian paintings. It (as well as his other works) have been described as “quasi-religious symbolism" and "an exoticized view of the inhabitants of Polynesia."
Where do we come from?-Gauguin

Gauguin also had a mashup of Neptune/Moon/Venus locked in a mutable t-square. Moon in Virgo was opposite Neptune in Pisces. Venus squared both these points from Gemini. He was often disappointed that the world didn't live up to his ideals. His finances were always elusive and he disappeared from his first wife and five children leaving them poor and destitute (Venus/Neptune). Some accounts attest that his first wife asked him to leave after he raised the hackles of the religious in that area.

Also from the above cited article, the author describes that Gauguin's display of Metamorphoses “hones in on his expressively carved lines. Gaughin treated the girl like an abstraction. She resonated as a symbol of primitive beliefs, the power that superstition holds over the simple psyche.” Again, this is very reflective of Mars/Pluto/Uranus in play with Jupiter in Cancer.
Manoa tupapau-Gauguin. The subject of his painting is his 13 year old Polynesian wife

“Sex and violence permeate the work of a savage and predatory man” and “the drama of erotic dreams and visions in which the orgasmic and spiritual intertwine” are also descriptions that accurately depict Gauguin's art and astrology.

Soyez amoureuses vous serez heureuses

Correlations with Gauguin's chart and our current astrology:
Sun in Gemini
Gauguin has Moon square Neptune, we have this coming in with the New Moon in Gemini
Mars will perfect in square to Pluto for the 3rd time on June 14
Venus will square Neptune on June 29th
Neptune in Pisces
Uranus in Aries
Conflict between Jupiter in Cancer and Pluto (Aries for Gauguin/Capricorn for our current times)

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for May 25 2014

Are you ready to slow down and relax into this day?

This morning, we wake up to Moon still in Aries. But, she is working toward a conjunction with Venus that perfects at 10:07 AM EDT.

Moon/Venus (even with Venus in detriment) is like a soothing balm. Ahhhhh...

Venus is still within orb of sextiling Mercury in Gemini. So, as the Moon approaches Venus, she also encounters Mercury. Minds and emotions are at ease for the moment. (looks right, looks left, whispers “AND IT IS ABOUT FREAKING TIME!”)

And, that moment of “aaaaaaaaah” lasts all day, basically.

After the sextile with Mercury (11:58 AM), the Moon goes Void until entering Taurus at 5:28 PM. At that time, she also begins waxing into sextile with Neptune in Pisces which perfects tomorrow morning.

An unwinding Aries Moon leading up to an unwound Taurus Moon?

Yes, this has the potential to be a blissful and relaxing Sunday, if you give it half a chance.

Eat well. Rest well. Relax and enjoy!

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for May 24, 2014

It's a busy day. I hope you slept well last night. I don't mean busy as in “bad.” Busy can be social butterfly busy, or manual labor but productive busy...either way...BUSY. I'm fairly sure the majority of us will be up for a good day of movement anyway. Problem will reside in not knowing which direction we should run.

At 4:07 AM EDT, Moon made an ambiguous opposition to Mars in Libra. Moon wants to GO! Mars is stuck on “Which way should we go? What do you think? What would they like us to do? What can I do (Mars) to piss (Mars) off someone else (Libra/Other) today?” Dude. You aren't running backward anymore. Get your stuff straight. The detriment of Mars still makes Aries rather grumpy.

Libra doesn't initiate at the shot of the starting gun. There's a pause prior to engagement. This can be good if it isn't an emergent situation. But, so many people have a tendency to get stuck there. “On one hand, I could do x. But, on the other hand, maybe I should do y.” It's frustrating. And, it makes me want to rip my Libra parts out and smack them all.

Let me give you a possible scenario. This aspect was waxing in late last night. So, maybe you were lying in bed with your partner under this Aries Moon. And, one of you says, “You know, tomorrow is Saturday, I'd like to do something really fun.” The other person says, “OH! ME TOO! What would you like to do?” That leads to, “I don't know, what would you like to do.” And you could pass that sentence back and forth for an eternity trying to come to a decision (which, deciding to do something FUN should be FUN, right? But, in this instance..GAH!) until you both get ridiculously frustrated and finally say, “FUCK IT! WE AIN'T DOIN NOTHIN!”

Ahhh, fun times. Here's the thing, though. The opposition of the Aries Moon to Mars occurs at 9 degrees Cardinal. Mars is STILL inconjunct Neptune, so it could be that motivations with both parties are elusive anyway. Or, you may want to have fun but energy levels are not exactly dependable right now. Either way, Aries Moon wants to go. Libra Mars wants to go WITH YOU! But, looming ever so close in the background is Pluto...squaring them both. As frustration rises, so can the taste of blood in your mouth.

WHOA! This isn't worth killing anyone over! RELAX! Look for something active. If the weather is nice, get outside. I wouldn't go for anything that calls for refined skill (like shooting practice or knife throwing) or that is overly strenuous (might not be so bad for a friendly competition—Libra Mars loves that. But, risk of injury is HIGH with Mars/Neptune and with Mars/Moon in square to Pluto, things could get vicious and bloody rather quickly). GENTLE fun. And, if the decision making gets too heavy, you can always default to just having sex. Makes Moon happy, makes Mars happy and it's about the only thing that makes Pluto crack a smile..so..yeah, there's that.

The key will be doing something that SAFELY discharges that Mars energy and engages other people since Libra doesn't like to play alone. The square from Moon to Pluto occurs at 11:20 PM. Yep, sounds like a “nooner” to me.

Also looming in the background, Jupiter perfects in trine to Saturn in Scorpio. This Water Trine has been building for awhile. Hopefully, you are using it to its full potential. It brings a sense of, “I don't know how, and I don't know why, but I feel as if everything is going to be ok...somehow..some way.” And, that's a pretty nice feeling to have in the backdrop.

I know better than to tell Mars/Uranus not to push the big red button.
Because they will see it as a dare and push it EVERY time
You seriously are going to want to discharge that Mars stuff before Noon. This is because there is another aspect waxing in. Uranus is at 15 degrees Aries. Pretty safe away from an opposition with Mars (though, it IS coming). But as the Moon passes from 9 degrees, (which will be PAST Mars but still in orb enough to feel it) it begins waxing into conjunction with Uranus AND acts as a bridge between that rather largely separated Mars/Uranus opposition. If YOU don't discharge that Mars energy, the Universe is going to hit your release valve and its going to spew out in all kinds of unexpected directions. Premature Ejaculation---metaphorically, of course.

We know Mars/Mercury to be accident prone. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury. Mars/Uranus is the Mars/Mercury clumsiness on crack. Thing is, Mars/Mercury goes for your hands. Mars/Uranus heads straight for your ankles (and your nervous system). So, you could be in the throes of a highly competitive game of basketball and end up breaking your leg. Don't believe me? Go ask Kevin Ware (and WARNING the linked video there is pretty graphic) who played for the Louisville Cardinals during March Madness in 2013 and ended up with a double fracture of his lower leg with Mars in Aries right on top of Uranus in Aries. Check the ephemeris for 3/31/13 and see for yourself.

Or, you could be partying it up on a party barge with your friends and get seriously injured because you don't realize how drunk you are (Mars inconjunct Neptune). LOL, I'm really not trying to scare you. Just be careful out there. Any ER worker will tell you that trauma due to accident rises dramatically in the warmer months—lawn mowers, boats, ATV's, motorcycles, theme parks, jet skis...this is the PERFECT set up for stuff like that. Not to mention that when the temperature rises, so do the statistics surrounding domestic violence, brutal/violent crime..and all that. Throw in some Neptune (Drugs/Alcohol) to that mix (Moon/Mars/Pluto/Uranus) and you've got yourself a potential real big (and possibly prosecutable) mess.

Plus, Mercury enters his shadow period so your thinking/judgment is pretty jacked too. And, it ALL happens before 3 PM!

Do aim for fun. Just make it safe fun. Then, whatever you are feeling gets amped up when the Moon ends the day with a square to Jupiter in Cancer. If it was an overall fun day that made you feel good, then by bedtime you are going to be feeling REALLY good. If you let this stuff take you over...well, yeah. Let's not do that. Ok?

Use today well. Tomorrow looks to be much less exciting. It would serve you well to stop off at the grocery store for treats to prepare for tomorrow after your adventures of today.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for May 23, 2014

This morning we wake up to a Void Pisces Moon. The last aspect she made was a square to Mercury in Gemini. This can give an overtone to the morning of longing for silence in a room full of Chatty Kathy's. Personally, this Pisces Moon has rid herself of the Chatty Kathy's. I find I work and function much more effectively in solitude. My Libra parts want to be a team player. But, my Pisces parts would rather just be left alone. There's a balance to find there.

It's an odd thing for a Libra, but when I was practicing gymnastics, the balance beam was my WORST area. I excelled at the uneven bars though. Go figure.

Either way, we may wake up feeling like something does not compute. Maybe it was information contained in a dream—what was THAT about? Maybe it was something someone said and you aren't sure if they meant it and you aren't sure if you understood it. Maybe it was a random thought that surprised you and left you perplexed..where did THAT come from?

Moon remains Void until she crosses into Aries just afternoon. At that point, we get really tired of sulking really quickly. Time to move onward and upward!

The Aries Moon's ruler, Mars is NOW DIRECT. He is moving out of his elusive energy sucking inconjunct with Neptune and headed straight toward a square with Pluto. Are you ready for that kind of power? You have a little while to prepare. But, I surely suggest you do because THAT kind of Mars without any type of philosophy or end goal can be outright dangerous.

Bloodlust. That's what Mars/Pluto equals for me. Ferociousness. Haphazardly, someone could get hurt. Deliberately directed...HOLY SHIT. There is some POWER there that we've not known for quite some time.

If you are early Pluto in Libra, you are going to be feeling your Pluto and all his aspects today as the Moon opposes. Be careful not to project your shadow. Own it. Power forward with that monster under control. The Sun supports you via trine to your Pluto. Power. Use it wisely.

And, while the Sun makes a supportive aspect for our Pluto in Libra generation, it also sextiles the Moon in early Aries (4:39 PM EDT).

Of course there is still the matter of the Sun waxing into square with Neptune. But, do you realize you can use that? Oh yeah. There are times that call for the throwing up of a deliberate smokescreen and it isn't always merely to deceive or cheat. My favorite illustration of that is if you have to make a public speech. This scares the bejeezus out of some people. But, with Sun/Neptune, you can be whomever you want to be. I'm not regular Jo-X giving this speech. Today, I'm Martin Luther King. Today I'm JFK. Today, I'm the cult of personality.

That's right. You can use it to your benefit. Just be sure to ground first and do not leave the stage actually still thinking you are these phenomenal speakers. But, you can certainly throw that smokescreen up if you need to.

Another possible good use? Disappearing. Sun/Neptune can poof in and out of the reality sphere with a snap of the finger. Need a break? Run away for an hour or two. Do it while the Moon is Void—nothing will come of it Void Moon = a relaxing get-a-way with no repercussions. The cloak of invisibility is VERY useful at times.

Why, yes. If there is something you want to do, there is usually a tool in the sky or in your personal chart that you can engage to do it. Believe it or not, Astrology is not here to dictate how we live our day -to-day lives. It is here to guide us in maturity (Saturn), wisdom (Jupiter) and many other tasks. But, at the same time, it provides us with the tools we need to navigate life successfully. It's here to use. Not to dictate or suppress. That's my theory. And, it seems to be working. Though you will find different stories and perspectives elsewhere. This one works for me.

Tomorrow starts with us running before our feet even touch the ground. Get ready for THAT today. As a side note, here are some common "cautions" with Moon in Aries. Headaches..possibly sinus headaches coming off of a Pisces Moon where our immune systems are much more sensitive to allergens. Don't run over people! NN is in LIBRA! Draw the initiating GOLD from the SN in Aries but don't forget to play nice! NO CHEATING TO WIN! Prepare yourself for the big bang of the starting gun. If you aren't ready, it can make you stumble right out of the starting gate. Get ready to wake up! Be ready to MOVE..Aries DOES NOT sit still! Burn something--safely. Today would be great for burning garden debris and brain garbage. Waning Fire Moon...purge via fire.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for May 22, 2014

Our wiggly squiggly Fish Moon wallows in the mud and muck today. This morning we wake up to a Pisces Moon in sextile to Pluto in Capricorn.

Yesterday, a friend drew an animal symbolism card for me. It was Whale. Today, we ALL get a Whale!
Whale and Mermaid by GuadiBuendia

When I have a Whale day, I spend a lot of time below the conscious surface exploring the depths. I'm quiet. Noise is subdued as if you are hearing it from under water. And, things go deep. REALLY deep. It's not for the faint of heart or for anyone who is afraid of their own shadow.

The bubble down and bubble up are sloooooow processes. It takes a lot of emotional energy and you don't want to pop up or down too quickly or you will get the bends!! NO FUN!

The depth persists as the Moon makes a conjunction with Chiron at 2:05 PM. Then, everything comes to a head, all this knowledge we have drug up from the depths of our psyche and pain have the potential to erupt as the Moon trines Jupiter in Cancer at 4:15 PM but don't forget to be discreet and grounded in your new findings as Moon also trines Saturn in Scorpio at 5:05 PM.

This Grand Trine in water going on between Saturn, Jupiter and Chiron is subtle. It is not a forceful “in your face” aspect. It is one that helps us get in touch with our wisdom and perspective (Jupiter), our boundaries and the depth of our shadows (Saturn) and acknowledge our path away from pain and toward healing (Chiron). There is great potential in this trine and it can be more easily accessed when the Moon gets involved from one of the water signs—such as the opportunity we have today.

One possibility is creating a new routine for the future. Lots of people, including myself, are experiencing overall life changes. Some of these changes were planned and expected. Some, not so much.

But, either way, when the proverbial apple cart is upset, you are forced to put things back together in a new routine. Jupiter/Saturn is there for you in that. With Chiron involved, you can incorporate boundaries and perspective around your triggers.

On a side note, you can't handle your triggers effectively (and we all have them) if you don't know where they are. Saturn and Jupiter are there to help you learn about that too. It's an emotional process occurring in water. Take meticulous care of your emotional body and treat your evolving/changing self with gentleness.

These overhauls take time, patience and diligence.

As for today, it's a watery and flowy day. Emotions are deep but supported by Jupiter (perspective) and Saturn (boundaries). Use these two tools to help you to confront whatever Moon/Chiron may dredge up from the depths.

Take a few minutes out of the day to dream. Nap. Slooow down a bit. Get lost in music. Get lost in your soul.

Morning Star: Daily Astrology for May 21, 2014

This morning we wake up to Moon in elusive Pisces. The emotional tides have risen. The first aspect she makes is a square to the Sun newly in Gemini bringing forth our Last Quarter Moon. This happens at just past zero degrees mutable. If you have planets in early Virgo or Sagittarius, you will be experiencing a nice unpredictable t-square. Be ready to bend, flex and move.

The Sabian Symbol for 1 degree Pisces is “A Public Market Place.” Blain Bovee calls out the theme as being “Kaleidoscope Collective.” And this point of view from the First Decan of Pisces can move and shift just like a kaleidoscope. Our personal diversities meld together in the seas of Pisces to create an ever changing scene.

The Sabian for one degree Gemini is “A glass bottomed boat on still waters.” Can you comfortably look below the surface and accept that there is life below as well as above. Can you extend the view from the marketplace of Pisces and use it to explore and enjoy the depths? Do you realize the kaleidoscope colors both our internal world as well as our external one?

This is the shifting type of tension we will experience today. If you are uncomfortable with change and inconsistency (I'm talking to my predominately fixed folks here), look to ground and move forward slowly. Surround yourself with mutables (Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini, Virgo). Watch how they naturally navigate change and uncertainty. Observe the Cardinals who view shifting circumstances as an opportunity that can be capitalized upon. Don't simply default to immobility. Move. Even if its only to dance.

The problem between Pisces and Gemini is that the air side of this equation (Gemini) likes to be social and surrounded by friends. Pisces, however, is absorbent. So a vast collection of people can bring forth a lot of emotional ambiguity and confusion. It can be a bit much for the fish. Eventually he has to swim away on his own...away from the schooled and corralled fish...to figure out what he is about versus constantly swimming in the collective emotions.

The morning tension does dissipate due to the increasing confusion of Moon moving into conjunction with Neptune that overlays the entirety of the day. It doesn't perfect until 9 PM.

There are few rules of thumb for me when dealing with Moon in Pisces in aspect to Neptune. And, I know these rules well since my Moon is at 5 degrees Pisces, in square to my natal Neptune in Sagittarius and has been drowning in transiting Neptune for the past few years.

First, drink more water. During my lunar return, I limit the amount of caffeine I take in and increase my intake of water overall. I spend time in nature to ground. I wear hematite to help deflect the emotions of others that I'm so prone to absorb. I wear tiger's eye to, again, assist with grounding and to keep myself from floating away. Amethyst is also great for a Pisces Moon. If you are going to feel the emotions of others, you might as well turn up the volume on loving and healing energy—which is Amethyst's forte.

You can set your mood to music. Make an upbeat playlist and keep it available to you throughout the day.

Today is excellent for a Spiritual or Ritual cleansing. And, finally, Pisces is all about surrender, releasing and rising compassion. Tender? Yes. But, also imaginative and dreamy if you can avoid the morose wallowing that sometimes creeps up on you when Neptune is around.

You have to be tough to be this soft.

Shape the day you want out of the ethers. Be gentle with your emotional body and steer yourself toward a quiet retreat either in nature or with water even if you only have a few moments to spend. Sometimes that is all it takes.

The tension of the Last Quarter Moon will fade quickly. But, the Neptunian energy will hang with us for awhile. Grab your floaties!
