Venus Retrograde. Loving like you used to

I’m convinced that a large part of functioning in this adult world has a lot to do with re-learning how to be child. Safely explore the innocence while maintaining the wisdom you’ve gleaned thus far. Be brave, be strong enough to be vulnerable and love…unabashedly and freely just as you are.

Sometimes it may feel like huge blocks of a hardened shell are cracking and falling away..bit by bit. And as each piece falls and the dust is washed away it reveals a small hidden piece of you that was forgotten..cemented in…or walled up.

It has to be a metamorphosis of some type. I'm sure it eventually becomes uncomfortable for a caterpillar as it sloughs away it's entire existence before emerging as the marvelous creature it was meant to be. I wonder if it knows what is happening?

Metamorphosis of Narcissus—Dali

The following was written during the last time Venus was retrograde. This was May/June 2012 and occurred during the “Transit of Venus”

I’m realizing how much I’ve allowed the pain I’ve experienced in past relationships to hinder how I function in current relationships. I guess you could say, once bitten twice shy? Maybe?

In my early dating life, my actions were colored by hurts that I didn’t fully recognize. Sadly, the hurts had little to do with my view of romantic relationships but more to do with my apprehension about men all together. I do recognize that now. And seeing as that original line of thinking hindered me from being my full self within relationships, I’ve decided to cut it away. It was a protective mechanism that guarded anyone from seeing the real me. And, I have to tell you, the more I reveal the real me to myself, the more I like it.

Even beyond this self-imposed restriction, at heart I’ve still always been the true romantic. I want to uplift the people I adore, love and care for. And, I would actively do that. Little romantic gestures. Nice things to let them know they were special. Even though I was scared, I gave away little pieces of my heart in every relationship. It was as if I was putting it out there saying, “please, hold this. Feel what I’m feeling...let me show it how wonderful it can be.” And, like the kid who consistently puts her hand in the cookie jar and continually gets smacked for it---I stopped.

It’s not that I didn’t still want to do these things. It’s not that I didn’t have thoughts of sharing this wonderful warm uplifting feeling with others. It’s just that I found that most people were really not interested. They weren’t with that romantic child that I kept locked deep, deep inside myself. They were with the outer shell that I created. The strong, resilient, masked person who could turn on a dime and walk away without a second thought. Why they would even want to be with a person like that, I have no idea. But, they did.

Of course, I had also learned that I could nearly flip a switch and turn on this energy that would mesmerize just about any man. I’m sorry, but it’s true. I learned enough about myself and the way bodies interact and how hormones kinda take over at a certain age for a length of time and I used it whenever I wanted to. Protective instinct again. If I’m seducing you, I’m in control. And, it doesn’t give you a chance to victimize me. I’ll be heading you off at the pass. Again, this was not me.

So, my habits changed over time. I quit being romantic all together. It just became another part of me which I allowed to be pushed deep deep down. I never really connected with anyone. How could I? I wasn’t there. I am. Learned. Ready. Forgiven of myself and toward those that were involved in the experiences that prompted me to react by running to start with. And, there is someone who really would enjoy and be elated by the things I have stopped myself from doing. The person it was meant to be directed toward is here. And, it never occurred to me that he had nothing to do with me hiding it in the first place. I have an opportunity to put it all out there. To be exactly who it is I am. There is opportunity for that to be appreciated. He isn’t the cookie cutter man I’ve always chosen. He isn’t the burly stereotypical aggressor who has no empathy for anything and uses me to fill an empty spot in his trophy case or to use as a decoration on his arm like a nice wrist watch. Most of the time, he’s looking at me..nearly past me..wondering “Where’s Josi? I know she is in there somewhere.” He saw me when I didn’t see me. I still haven’t figured that one out.

But, it occurs to me that it isn’t his fault (or anyone else's for that matter) how I got here. It occurs to me that if I want to be loved and appreciated and known for who I really am, then first, I must be who I really am. As scary as it sounds to me right now, that means returning to what I was and how I felt before I became so scarred and battered by life’s experiences that I became afraid.

Interestingly, it was all brought together and fell into place this morning (as Mercury trined my Venus) and a song I hadn’t heard in a very long time began replaying in my head. Yes, music wakes up my Pisces moon which is often very much protected by my hardcore 8th house sun. It’s a gentle fish that swims happily in deep waters transcending a lot of what happens in daily life. What you see is an aloof, powerful, sometimes intimidating Amazon who would just as soon slit your throat as to pounce on you with all the sexual ferocity of a hungry succubus. But, every now and then, that swimmy Neptune Moon will bubble up and whisper things to me that I’d rather not hear. Today, it said "You can love like you used to." And the realization of that brought some pretty mighty healing followed quickly by tears of relief. Neptune is, you know, the higher octave of Venus.

(on a side note, I mentioned somewhere jokingly if your love life had been like a bad country song, then Venus Rx might not be such a bad thing…we all know what happens when you play a country song backward. You get your dog back..your house back..the girl comes home and brings your money with her..)

Was there a time when you were not afraid to love? Do you remember what that was like before you were hurt in the process? Are you brave enough to love like you used to? Or do you still have some healing to do?

Mars in Libra Vs Uranus in Aries-How to use it

Electrical current can greatly enhance our lives but can also destroy us at the same time. I see Mars/Uranus energy much like I do electrical energy. We have an opportunity to be pioneers of this energy.
Tesla: Modern Day Cowboy

When electrical energy is contained in conduit, an insulator and transmitted through a conductive metal and subsequently grounded, it brings us many of today's modern conveniences. The harnessing of electricity was a pretty big deal. And, that is quite an understatement. If you've never studied anything related to the rights over harnessing electrical current (Edison VS Tesla), I highly recommend it. There is quite a story there. And, chances are you were not introduced to what really went on while you studied it in elementary school.

At any rate, electrical current can be greatly beneficial when harnessed. However, when it is NOT harnessed and allowed to run about rampantly, it becomes scattered and, very often, destructive. The same is true of Mars in aspect to Uranus.

Mars in aspect to Uranus can be an itchy and nervous energy. We've been dealing with this (Mars/Uranus) since Uranus moved into Aries. However, Mars in Libra is coming along to make things start twitching even more. Plus, Uranus in Aries is stationed to go direct on the day before the full moon in Gemini. So, what we have is a stationary and powerful Uranus and a build up of emotions (even if the full moon is in an air sign) as we approach the full moon. In my eyes, what that boils down to is the possibility that we are swimming in the lake and lightning is coming.

What happens when you are on a lake and an electrical storm is coming? Smart move would be to get out of the lake. Same here. Get a grip on the emotional side of this. Respond. Do not react. (You are going to want to remember those last 4 words.)

On my mother's side of the family, there runs a very distinct Mars/Uranus pattern. As a matter of fact, the impulsiveness and rebellious expressions of this energy caused the untimely deaths of two of my uncles. I have Mars conjunct Uranus in my natal chart. The conjunction is located in the 8th house and also has Mars conjunct Pluto. I've been in quite a few deadly situations myself. Most of these were perpetrated by me reacting (often rebelliously and spontaneously) instead of responding.

The patriarch of my mother's family had what I call a “catch phrase.” He was a quadruple Aries (Sun and Moon conjunct in the latter degrees with Mercury and Venus conjunct in the early degrees). By the way, he also had Mars in Scorpio trining Uranus in Pisces and Pluto in Cancer with Saturn in Virgo forming a kite with all 4 planets—he knew what he was talking about. He would say, “The main thing is not to get excited.” It took me three decades of life to even care what it was he meant by that. And, it took another decade of life for me to admit that this was true. And, it is true. My grandfather was also an amazing man.

So, while in this Cardinal t-square of a mess there does exist the possibility of spontaneous combustion to a point that it can and will hurt you. But, there is also a wonderful opportunity in it when harnessed and directed appropriately—just like electricity.

Healthy emotional boundaries are of a great importance while dealing with these energies. A healthy emotional body, in general, is also key. In that, know that Mars/Uranus can exacerbate nervous disorders such as anxiety and OCD. Take proper care of these and don't let them go on unchecked. They are true disorders.

One of Libra's shadow traits, procrastination and indecision, can exacerbate that “I've waited until the last minute and now I have to DO or DECIDE right now!” Don't put yourself in that self-perpetrated dramatic situation.

One thing that I cannot preach enough about with this energy in the air is to cut down on stimulants, including caffeine, sugar and nicotine, and increase your dietary intake of water. These stimulants will increase in potency with Mars/Uranus and make the nervous disorders worse or cause the emergence of them. They will work to further scatter the Mars/Uranus energy. Mars/Uranus when scattered is accident prone at it's best. Explosive at its worst.

Think of your emotional body as the conduit. Your emotional boundaries act as insulators. You don't want any breaks in this material and you want to work on regular maintenance of these bodies to ensure they remain intact. This includes practices like meditation, grounding exercises, good dietary intake (decrease stimulants, increase water and work to maintain a healthy diet). Take regular breaks from electronics (cell phones, computers, TV's) and over-stimulating activities.

In taking care of the conduit and insulators, grounding also becomes a factor. The better shape your emotional body (the conduit), emotional boundaries (insulator) and your grounding routines are, the better you will be able to effectively use this energy. When you effectively use this energy, it can fall in the realm of genius. Just remember, there is a very fine line between genius and madness. The care you take toward your emotional body, boundaries and grounding activities could very well prove to be what draws that line.

You, your physical self, are the conductive wire in this electrical analogy. What you are going to want to do is direct this electrical current with the help of your conduit, insulators and ground. It's important to know which direction that is. With Pluto looming within orb, you are going to want to be careful where you point this stuff!

What projects are you working on? Which ones need your attention and which ones do you want to put your energy into? Decide that right now. An endpoint is important to keep the energy from being wasted and scattered. Cut out the distractions. Let go of the things you really don't want to focus on so that you can aim this energy like a laser beam toward where you want it. And, yes, visualizations of this laser beam like energy going where you want it to go are extremely helpful and can be used during your grounding activities such as mediation. Again, be careful where you point this stuff because it is potent. Know your intention for this energy. The progress and level of innovation that you CAN reach is amazing.

Find a physical outlet. The best physical outlets are going to be the ones that, of course, discharge your Marsy energy but also allow you to practice their direction. I'm thinking in terms of karate, Tai-Chi, Yoga, Pilates and any exercise where you take energy and consciously direct it in a certain way. These types of things will teach you to control and direct. They will also teach you to respond vs react. They also help with your emotional body. Dancing is also a good one especially with Mars in Libra—just make sure there is nothing to fall off of or trip over while your shaking your booty (not that I speak from experience, or anything).

Breathing. Very important. In our first Woo-Woo Wonderful Show , Dixie mentions Combat Breathing. This is also known as the fourfold breath (that link describes many different breathing techniques as well as fourfold breath). A little conscious effort in this realm goes a long way.

When you combine Mars, Uranus, Pluto and Jupiter energy you could very well feel 10 foot tall and bullet proof. Remember, you are not. Jupiter can come into play in two ways. It can give you the foresight and wisdom you need to act appropriately and in your best long-term interests. OR, it can inflate you to the point that you do start believing you are 10 foot tall and bulletproof and that your rebellious and destructive actions are, indeed, justified.

Mars/Pluto is a tremendous amount of energy that can be focused on rebuilding but can also be destructive. You do have the ability to choose. It is a replenishing energy in that whatever you put in energywise will be returned to you. However, bear in mind that this aspect doesn't last forever. You know your limits. Pace yourself. Also pay heed to the lessons of Saturn in Scorpio which speak of energy exchange. You cannot fill a bottomless pit no matter how long you keep at it.

Given those two statements, I bring you the “antidotes” for the negative expression of Mars/Uranus and Mars/Pluto.

The principles of these two cards are excellent fall back lessons when dealing with this energy. Temperance represents the Sagittarian and Jupiter qualities I discussed earlier. Wisdom. Intentional mixing of energies in an alchemical process and foresight are gifts of this card. When out of whack (inverted) it has the potential to be explosive. Patience and diligence are key. Careful mixing of volatile elements to bring forth a common and beneficial third element is the goal.

Strength has nothing to do with physical prowess. It is more of the conscious control of your own inner vicious beast. He or she can be destructive. However, when properly harnessed it becomes a force to be reckoned with in a good way. Channeled. Purposely directed. Laser beam. Problem with this is realizing that YOU are in control of this instead of constantly being at odds with someone else you may believe is in control. That tiger may want to come off the chain but you have to remember the consequences of allowing someone to push that trigger for you. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it feels darn good to turn that beast loose on someone you think deserves it—but in the long term it rarely proves worth it, especially to you. So, harness it and use it for your best good and not for the destruction of others.

Can you control this energy? The bigger question is, can you control yourself, your drives, your motives? Can you acknowledge your shadow and embrace it as part of yourself while choosing to express the highest vibration instead? Are you going to react? Or will you respond.

Mars/Uranus/Pluto is excellent energy to have in emergency situations. The surgical and precise movements know exactly what needs to be done and does it lightning quick. (Save the baby, stop the bleeding, put out the fire) However, it's key to realize that not everything is an emergency. Allow me to repeat that, NOT EVERYTHING IS AN EMERGENCY. Remaining grounded and working to keep an intact and healthy emotional body will be key assets through this time period. You can do amazing things with this. You can also get quite a high off the adrenaline rush and ferocity of the speed associated with this energy. Either potential is out there for you to choose.

Dates for exact interactions of Mars/Uranus:

December 25th at 3:33 AM EST at 8 degrees 37 minutes. The Moon in Libra hits a conjunction with Mars in Libra/Uranus in Aries at about 6 PM EST this same night. The last quarter moon (Moon in Libra square Sun in Capricorn) occurs at 8:49 AM EST.

April 23rd. Mars Rx opposing Uranus direct in Aries. This meetup happens at 13 degrees and 38 seconds with Pluto at 13 degrees Capricorn and so is Jupiter in Cancer. So, yeah. Be mindful of your actions with the first pass because all the big players are involved with the RX pass.

June 25th. Mars is direct and opposes Uranus in Aries at 16 degrees 13 minutes right before a new moon in Cancer. Did you catch that? First pass occurs on the last quarter moon leading up to a New Moon in Capricorn. Last pass occurs only a few days prior to a New Moon in Cancer. The polarities of Capricorn and Cancer are in play with the polarities of Libra and Aries.

*On a personal note, from me:
One thing that I struggle with is that I will be consciously working to direct all this energy while it seems everyone around me is popping off and exploding and not even trying in the least bit to be mindful or even be responsible for what they are doing. I'm controlling myself and they are just letting it fly. The bloodlust that accompanies Mars/Pluto can be lured to just go nuts on something that can only be equated to a Vampire feeding frenzy. Sigh. And, I reach a point where I think, “Gosh Durn It! It's just not fair that all these motherfuckers (excuse me, I have Mercury in Scorpio) are just freely giving into impulse and consequences be damned!” At that point I'm tempted to give in and blow up right along with them. Don't fall for it, sweet pea. Life ain't fair and it's not about what THEY are doing it's about owning and what YOU are doing. THEY are not the boss of you, remember? You are the boss of you and each of you will meet the consequences of your actions one way or another. Don't allow Mars/Uranus to push to one of those moments you may regret. Or, at least, that's what I tell myself.*

Mars in Libra, Uranus in Aries, Pluto in Capricorn_The Ugly

I'm currently writing a blog about the beneficial use of Mars/Uranus and the possibilities of harnessing and using the energy that will be apparent when Mars enters into aspect with Uranus/Pluto and Jupiter. However, I've got these things (global possibilities) lingering in the back of mind that need to be purged first before I can move forward. So, here they are.

Don't freak out. I'm not a conspiracy theorist. Though there are plenty of people out there that will build up your excitement and then try to subsequently profit from it. Just know these (and many other) possibilities exist. Engage your higher mind and read on. And, remember, there is a good, bad and ugly side to every transit. I'd let the following fall in the bad and ugly categories.

On a global scale (and basically out of our control from preventing) I suspect we may see headlines and hear stories about:

Deadly extremist actions taken in the name of justice and possibly involving personal philosophies and/or religion. We've seen this already, have we not? Uranus in Aries is a Mars/Uranus contact to begin with and it's been in orb with Pluto in Cap for sometime. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of this and terms of fairness, equality and justice will come into play.

Increase in sexually transmitted diseases that attack the kidneys. Yes. I know that's a bit out there. But, I do have this inkling. Saturn is in Scorpio. The last time Saturn was in Scorpio AIDS emerged. Libra rules kidneys and while I do believe we will see an increased instance of urinary tract infections and problems with the kidneys in general, having Saturn in Scorpio involved and the lessons of this placement AND given that Libra is partnership I do believe we will see an uptick or at least something new emerge on this front. I also see Uranus involved in Lab Work and Medicine. Efforts taken against such possible diseases should be proactive. Particularly on my mind is antibiotic resistant gonorrhea. But, you know, there could be stuff out there that we've not even heard about. I do expect the “status quo” to change again (Pluto in Cap) in regard to sex even beyond Mars' passage through Libra and be carried with the transit through Scorpio. Not so coincidentally, when I was researching to give you a link to antibiotic resistant gonorrhea, I ran across this article released by the CDC on Nov. 18 of this year

Unusual and eccentric partnerships possibly formed in the named of common philosophies that will wield great power. This can be good or bad! You know? It is really dependent on what those foundational philosophies are. And, again, it's not something that hasn't already been occurring with the interplay of Uranus in Aries, Pluto in Cap and Jupiter in Cancer. Those formed prior to Mars into Libra will likely be giving the green “Go” light as far as their plans/efforts. In other words, we will see the emergence and revelation of these groups. On a side note, this graphic cracks me up!!

People are going to become increasingly pissed off over the data collection methods used by governments AND consumer groups. I've really been surprised that there are some people that had not considered this as a possibility prior to it officially hitting the news. Some people were blindsided by it. Some people could not care less (ie: I have nothing to hide). However, I do see agitation around these collections of data increasing. I also see the possibility of aggressive measures being taken by the people who collect this data in order to further their own agendas. Again..surprise? I don't think it is. But, some might. Further possibilities, Internet restrictions. Loss of Internet connections. Electronic Communication restrictions. Increased frustration and enforcement of travel restrictions.

Disputes over nuclear arms. Again, has been an issue for a long time. Will remain an increasing issue.

I don't think there is any reason to retreat to your bunker or become a complete hermit from society just yet. No matter how you tunnel yourself away, all these external energies still have the ability to affect you. Mars/Uranus/Pluto is a WONDERFUL asset to have in an emergent situation. People with these aspects in their natal charts are the very ones you want around if the “shit hits the fan” because they react quickly, surgically and can almost have a superhuman ability in terms of rescuing and prioritizing in emergency situations. However, the KEY here is realizing 1) not everything is an emergency 2) when it is not an emergency make sure you are responding to the energies you encounter and not just reacting.

Love killings. Murder in relationships. Domestic violence. Yes. An uptick in this is a possibility too. Itchy trigger finger like reactions. And, I don't see it as something that is carried out with much forethought either. It COULD be a long slow process. But, under these skies I see it more as a whiplash reaction type thing whose consequences and realness has not been thought through. Please don't blow up or gun down your lover (or your lover's lover) in a moment of passion. Just leave. Quickly. Rebuild. Respond. Don't react.

Point and Counterpoint: Mars in Libra

Point and counterpoint

From Wikipedia, “In its most general aspect, counterpoint involves the writing of musical lines that sound very different and move independently from each other but sound harmonious when played simultaneously”

It is hard to write a beautiful song. It is harder to write several individually beautiful songs that, when sung simultaneously, sound as a more beautiful polyphonic whole. The internal structures that create each of the voices separately must contribute to the emergent structure of the polyphony, which in turn must reinforce and comment on the structures of the individual voices. The way that is accomplished in detail is...'counterpoint'”

There is a word that describes the type of harmonic interaction between sounds that are independent and different. That word is interdependent.

The beauty of interdependence is that each element can exist and thrive on its own. However, when these individual factions are combined, they create something beautiful and of value while each still remain unique and independent of the other.
Interdependence is what we strive for in healthy relationships and effective teams. Relationships and collaborative effort are a personification of Mars in Libra at its finest.
We don’t often talk about Mars in Libra being in its finest though, do we? We hear more about the fact that Mars finds himself in detriment in Libra. And, when first experiencing or learning about transiting Mars in Libra it’s often easier to express the simpler, less refined, more passive elements of the placements.

I’ve described Mars in Libra as being the person who will smile to your face while stabbing you in the back. This is a possible manifestation. Mars in Libra is often accused of keeping up appearances in lieu of expressing anger or fighting. I will argue that point. Sometimes, Mars in Libra puts up the appearance in order to get them further down the road toward what they want. It’s not so much that Mars in Libra gives a crap about what you think---that’s Mercury in Libra’s job. Mars in Libra does; however, worry about what actions you may take that could thwart them from getting what they want because what is “wanted” is exactly what motivates Mars in Libra to start with.
Mars in Libra is militant and strategic. He doesn’t have to do much, because he’s going to leave the actions mostly to you. In a way, it looks as if Mars in Libra is a reactive and/or passive placement—and it can be. However, usually what is happening is he is leading your actions through his own and will then respond to you in kind. Most of the time, he has already weighed out your possible reactions and will base his future actions on the choice you make. But, he’s going to make darned sure to put you in a situation where you make the choice that is conducive to his own best interests. Do you understand what I’m saying? Mars in Libra will set you up without you even realizing it. He will spark you to act, provoke you in a way that you do something that either justifies his next action or leads to the action he wants to take.
That, in and of itself, is Mars’ downfall in Libra. Actions should be based and driven from your core, not dependent upon what someone else chooses to do. But, in a militant and strategic realm, anticipating your opponents move and planning your counterpoint is exactly the way to go. As you can probably tell, this can be good or bad depending on your position.
An Officer and Gentleman was my favorite movie as a child. That’s right. It wasn’t ET, it wasn’t some cartoon. It was this. I have Mars in Libra.
Pay attention to what the Drill Instructor (Foley) says in the clip, “I will use any means, fair or unfair, to trip you up.” Also, listen to what he says about the “local girls” who only have one thing in mind, “To marry themselves a naval aviator.” Mars in Libra. Every. Bit. Of. It.
Mars in aspect to Venus is motivated (Mars) by what it wants (Venus). This is true of Mars in Taurus, as well. However, Mars in Taurus is more inclined to just not budge until he gets what he wants. Or, to keep trudging forward in that becomes all about the person’s momentum with the fuel behind that drive (or the stubborn absence of it) being the shiny Venus object (money, love, something of tangible or intangible value).
Mars in Libra will throw out concepts like “compromise” when in a dispute. It will also throw out words like “fair” and “justice” and pin them as reasons for their chosen actions. The thing that gets lost in that translation is the true meaning of compromise.
Compromise is “an agreement or settlement of a dispute that is reached by EACH SIDE making concessions. That “each side making concessions” part is usually what is lost. Whenever someone says to me, “You need to compromise,” I laugh. Compromise is not something you can reach on your own. However, if you talking about compromise as a verb and not a noun, it then becomes, “the ability to listen to two sides in a dispute and construct a compromise (back to the noun’s meaning) acceptable to both.” Still with the action of compromise there exists the original meaning of the word that implies ALL parties are going to be called to give something up in order to get what they want.
Keep that in mind when Mars in Libra throws compromise in your face. Turn and ask all parties involved what they are also willing to surrender in order to achieve whatever goal it is. Do not just seek what you are going to have to give up.
In terms of “fairness” and “justice,” what is usually lost in those matters is the fact that what I deem as fair may be different from what you deem as fair. What I think is “just” may not align with what you think is “just.” Someone with a heavy Pluto influence in their chart may believe that it’s fair to burn your house down and kill your entire family because you cut them off on the freeway. Is that fair? Probably not if you are the person that cut the Pluto person off. But, to the Pluto person, yeah…that seems fair. The terms of what is “fair” and what is “just” are both subjective (based or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions) which brings me to my next point about Mars in Libra.

What happens when subjective information interferes with objective decision making? Well, we call that projection, my friend, and that is Libra’s forte’. Any planet in Libra has the power to project. Now, we have the psychological definition of projection and that applies too. But, what I’m mainly talking about is the assumption that everyone carries the same subjective data as you do and therefore also assuming that other people are basing their decisions on the same thing you base them on. This is not only immature (as it is often observed in children) but is also faulty. I doubt very seriously that you could find one person whose life experience has led them to the same collection of subjective data as you.
You may find people with similar experiences. You may find people who have one or two similar subjective values. But, a carbon copy? No. I don’t see that happening.
An immature expression of Mars in Libra will base his evaluation of what should be done solely on how he thinks the “other” feels (subjective) about something. Mars in Libra may actually try to be above board and be fair but doesn’t realize that everyone doesn’t see “fair” or “just” the same way he does.

Ah, but the skilled Mars in Libra will know a little bit more about your subjective data. Mars in Libra has not obtained the detective like capacity of Mars in Scorpio yet. However, he has an inkling of what drives you even if he can’t put the psychologically motivated “why’s” behind it just yet. Mars in Libra can charm (another Venus/Mars trait) his way right into you giving that away to him by asking the simple and predictable questions of, “What do you think?” “What would you do?” “How do you feel about it?”
Did you think Mars in Libra was really that indecisive and unsure about his own actions that he was relying solely on the importance of your opinion in the matter? *shrugs* Maybe during the initial interaction, he was. But, don’t think for a minute that your response was forgotten or discarded. No. Libra is an Air sign. It is the realm of the mind, memory, data storing, ideas, concepts, information, and thinking. Whatever response you gave (whether Mars in Libra’s intentions were true to form initially or not) was stored for later use. You have just given a part of yourself away with your answer and Mars in Libra may pull that back up at a later date in order to further manipulate the situation in an effort to get what he wants. How do you think he knows what exists “on the other hand”? How do you think he is able to walk around in the shoes of the “other” so easily?

Strategy. Check and mate.

The other form of psychological projection also exists with Libra (and Mars in Libra) in that the inner desire is denied and therefore projected onto something else. That can be dangerous at times. It can also lead to paranoia. Everyone is not out to get you. It is you that is competing here but you just don’t want to admit that to yourself. Just because you are not willing to admit it doesn’t mean it is not there. It just means you are allowing it to exist on the face of someone or something else.

Be careful when sizing up that someone is “out to get you” and make sure you don’t have some suppressed anger yourself with Mars in Libra. Is your own anger too ugly for you to look at? Are your own motives so shady that you aren’t willing to admit them to yourself but can see them on everyone else? Just a few thoughts to consider. And, good ones, I think since Saturn is also in Scorpio and we are to be learning about our shadows. You know? We discovered the projection issues with Saturn in Libra, right? So, with Saturn in Scorpio we are figuring out the psychological root causes of these which is very often found in our shadow selves.

It's also possible to attract (Venus) through your actions (Mars). Realize that the efforts you put out there will often bring similar actions toward you sometimes wrapped in a different package of circumstance. This can be beneficial! If you push out loving actions then you could very well receive loving actions in return. If you help others, you too may receive help.
These are just a few of my initial thoughts on Mars in Libra. There is more to come.

Woo Woo Wonderful LIVE SHOW!

I've embarked upon a brand new project with my pal Dixie Vogel of A Fool's Journey. On Saturday, December 7th, at 3PM Central/4 PM EST, we will be hosting our very first live show!

For our premiere event, we will be discussing Psychic Protection during a live Google Hangout. Future shows will cover various topics from Stones (different types, their uses, how to care for them), Chakras, Connecting with Spirit and basically tips and techniques we have picked up in order to empower you to bring Spiritual matters into your own hands in a way that is simple enough to use everyday.

I'd love to see all my readers there! But, if you cannot make it, we will also be posting recorded versions of the show for you.

The video below has all the details. But to see the first live airing, just pop on over to Dixie's place on Saturday or check out the live Hangout! Hope to see you there!

I'm also going to be offering several new readings before the end of the year to help you prepare for 2014. Watch for the announcements!

New Moon in Sagittarius December 2, 2013

Sunday, December 1 began on a sober tone with Moon conjunct Saturn in the early morning hours (EST). But, it seemed to improve as the day processed with a trine from Moon in Scorpio to Jupiter in Cancer at 8:16 AM EST followed by a sextile to both Venus (around noon) and Mars (about 8:30 PM EST). As I write this (5:30 PM EST) the Scorpio Moon is conjunct Mercury which seems to have stirred my brain after pondering a long period of Sun in Sagittarius squaring Chiron in Pisces via application and perfecting a little after midnight (Dec. 1st).

Moon in Scorpio is a watery and intuitive sign. I doubt that many people actually spoke of the inherent pain they may have experienced due the Sun/Chiron square. For me, it wasn't something that can be boiled down into words. It was not just one thing that bubbled to the surface. But, it was more like many tiny needles that pricked away reminding me of that deep wound emanating from Pisces. That, taken with an introspective and enduring Moon in Scorpio, this day (and the days leading to this including the U.S. Holiday of Thanksgiving) has been quiet for me.

There seemed to be a desire to keep appearances pleasing and smoothed over with the Moon in Libra during Thanksgiving. However, beneath the veneer, there was a lot going on. My Father even made the comment “Well. I learned a lot today.” And, since I was there and I know my Father, I know these weren't necessarily pleasant discoveries. They were more like cues into his own psyche given from outside interaction that he found...displeasing. I can't say my personal experience through all of this was any different. Again, tiny multiple needle pricks hidden deep under the surface leaving no visible marks.

Tomorrow, however, the Moon leaves the depths of Scorpio waters and enters into a new light. She retraces the Sun's square with Chiron and meets up with him at just before 11 degrees Sagittarius at 7:23 PM EST marking the beginning of a new season--- Bringing with it a type of new knowledge or new truth. Scorpio season is concluding. And, as Mercury passes from Scorpio to Sagittarius on December 4th people will emerge from their watery graves to discuss what they have discovered in the depths and begin integrating this into their personal stories. This moon marks the beginning of that journey or passage.

Perhaps we have gleaned a new empathy for the suffering of others as we have ourselves suffered. Perhaps, even though we have been trudging for what seems like an eternity, we have met with what we have that is solid and can now celebrate that as well as be generous with it. Generosity and benevolence is a solid marking of Sagittarius.

It's odd. But, at this time of year I see a golden aura emerge even though the days are marching toward their shortest and night seems to be taking over. This aura is generous and something that brings a type of comfort to it amidst the commercialized gunk that tries it's best to prevail. Our generosity is preyed upon by this commercialism. Or, at least, that's how I feel about it. Yet, within our deepest cores, I also feel that we do realize that true generosity doesn't come in a bag or tightly wrapped in shiny paper.

At any rate, New Moons mark a time for intentions that will carry us through the next phases of the Moon. From December 2nd, she will begin waxing and building, becoming fuller and fuller much a like a young Christian child becomes more and more enthusiastic as we mark the days toward Christmas and Santa. As adults, we can carry with us some of this wonder from childhood with a bit of nostalgia. There is a bit of us that considers (or should) what type of legacy we are passing on to the children of today so that they can look back on these times with fondness and a desire to pass a part of that on to their future generations.

Venus in Capricorn is concerned with tradition. And, it's ok to begin new traditions while remembering the old. And as we create, mark and remember these we carry with us this new truth that emerges during the new moon.

As much as Sagittarius is about truth, generosity and storytelling, it is also about perspective. Jupiter is known for expansion. It can have us overflowing with emotion. Luckily we can be the masters of both our emotions and our perspective of the truth. Whatever tiny pricks you encountered with the squares to Chiron, whatever sludge you drug with you out of Scorpio season, remember both of these things are in the past. There is the future to be minded here and there is a way that we can dictate that these truths assist us in living in a more authentic way rather than allowing the increasing darkness to overwhelm us.

I would suggest setting your intention upon that. Be the master of your new truth and the master of the pen that will write your own story. Open yourself to being compassionate and generous to others as well as yourself. Allow the healing to begin as we march to the end of another year and turn another page in our holiday season scrapbook.

The Sabian Symbol for this new moon is “The lamp of physical enlightenment from the left temple.” Blain Bovee describes it here :

We become physically illuminated by this new truth. Feed that spark as per your own choosing while continuing to write your own story. Share that light with others. Where will this new journey take you? You do have the power to choose.
