Morning Star: Daily Astrology for Monday, April 20, 2015

This morning we wake up to the Sun entering Taurus (5:42 AM). It is now time to officially re-connect with the Earth. Get outside and enjoy the bounty of Spring. Touch the dirt. Smell the fresh air. Allow the Sun to touch your skin. Realize we are of the Earth. Even if we may not like the way some folks act here and even if we feel disconnected from some of the global mentalities, we are all of this Earth... even the outliers who question whether they were dropped off by aliens (ahem, I'm looking at you Uranian). We came from the elements of this Earth (fire, water, earth, air) and one day our physical bodies will return to it. So, if you are truly feeling disconnected, try getting out and touching something real and alive. I'll give you a hint, you won't find it through your keyboard or technical device. This may require unplugging and disconnecting with cyber space for a bit. Of course, there is some airy energy in our sky today as the Moon enters Gemini at 7:29 A

This morning we wake up to a Void Moon for just a few hours until she enters Aquarius at 9:52 AM. From here, the day looks a lot like a consistent battle between the Water Bearer and the Scorpion. By 10:49, the Moon is in square to the Sun. Then, overnight (1:34 AM), she squares off with Venus in Scorpio. First Quarter Moons are usually a bit challenging. They mark the midway point to the Full Moon. Folks who work with me in learning how to follow the Moon, know that I compare the passages of the Moon to a flower growing. At the New Moon, the flower seed is planted. At the First Quarter Moon, that seed has germinated and is now pushing to break through the Earth. Think about that. If you have ever seen a new flower sprout, then you know the green shoots are tender. At the same time, it would call for tremendous strength and effort from the little seedling to break it's encasement (shell) and then push its way through the thick Earth. Collective Symbolism--Horse

With my natal Mercury in Scorpio, I'm very interested in studying the history of collective symbolism. I also notice trends in current symbolism. This year, in Chinese Astrology, is the year of the Green Wood Horse . I immediately connected horses with Uranus in Aries. But, after further study of their meaning and reference, I was actually more inclined to link them to the whole of the current sky. At first, when I saw the horse, I thought of the fire element and their relation to war. This is what brought me to Uranus in Aries. The wild unbridled spirit and connotations of freedom that accompany the horse also refer to rebellious Uranus (first reference to air) in the sign of the Warrior.
